You can now get from Birmingham Moor Street to London Marylebone in as little as 90 minutes. This video shows how we created the Chiltern Mainline and made a large section of our line 100 mph.
The finest tribute to Adrian Shooter is that he made this huge upgrade project happen despite, not because of, railway franchising/ privatisation. Very saddening last year to learn that he has motor neurone disease. Marylebone station now has the Shooter Statue to mark his great achievements; a true railwayman.
I have been on this Chiltern Line version from London to Birmingham once before in 2005 with a support worker before the massive project. I also went to Wrexham in 2008 via the Chiltern Line. London's Marylebone station, I have visited the station many times.
Strange how the successive governments decided we need a new high speed rich persons' passenger only railway costing £60 BILLION of TAX PAYERS' MONEY from London to Birmingham. Just to show the world that Great Britain, mother of the railway, is still capable I suppose. Could have done an awful lot more good with this money though. The people riding the new trains will probably not give a thought for those displaced by its routing.
@@ltv_2005 They're not a bad operator at all in my opinion, although yours may differ. They have been warded the best train operator in the Uk multiple times.

I can’t go there because of my travel pass that means I can’t go to the stations far away from my local station
Great film, thanks. Always good to see how such things are done. And fascinating to see the wagon bodies sinking under the load as it gets put in.
I’ve come here every day at Birmingham Moor street
And all achieved without taxpayer money or government meddling. This is how the privatised railway should be run!
That’s excellent
They forgot 1 thing it's called electrification
All for the Chilteren.
Good show
The lyrics at the end of the song are soooo "Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and (then) back to Monday Tuesday..."
neither actually, it's how the description spells it, Marylebone.
Name of the song at the end of the video
Sad it doesnt stop at olton
the chiltern route is far superior to the west coast,
😊

It's Marleybone, not Marrylebone!
It doesn't matter...
