Thanks! I had quite a lot of lost hives this year, but the hives that are still here all look great 😊

I just found agreement to support your statement about pollen and brood. "Bees use pollen for one purpose and one purpose only; . If there is no queen there will be no brood, and therefore no reason to forage for pollen and bring it into the hive." Thank you for sharing that very useful information.

That is so great, thanks for doing some extra research 😊
Many insects don't live long when they are the adult insect. It is their larval stage that needs the proteins, fats and all are goodies. When they puppae into their final stage they run on sugars from then on. Many adult insects can't even eat in their final stage, only have sex and lay eggs is their only job then.
The emerged winterbees do eat a lot of pollen btw to build up fat reserves for winter. Summerbees run purely on sugar, there is no need for a balanced diet as they only live 4 weeks or so in summer.
Thanks for the research and your support, it is nice to hear it confirmed by different sources.
Have a very nice day Joseph and happy buzzing 🐝🐝😊

You made an interesting observation early in the video that if the bees are bringing in pollen that there is fresh brood in the hive. I have never heard anyone make that comment before. If this is a correct assumption, then determining "queen right" just became much easier.

You can at least see a big diffirence in how many pollen is coming in. If all your hives constantly are bringing in pollen and one of your hives has very little if any pollen coming in that surely is a sign there probably is something wrong. That is why having more than one hive is beneficial, even for beginners, you can scan the entrance and notice differences in behaviour.
