USA invest in renewable energy ... WE THE PEOPLE do not want more oil conflicts
Renewable energy is nice, but its inconvenient, as well as lacking something known as Energy Density.
Energy Density is just a way of measuring just how much power a power source will generate. Most renewable resource energy sources, such as Solar and Wind, are not energy dense enough. They do not effectively replace Coal or Oil power plants, and not nuclear either, which makes it difficult to recommend on a mass scale. I don't like it, but the alternative is not using power.
It'd be difficult to convince people to not waste power on non-essentials, (Like the internet) but being from Canada myself when winter hits you'll need power and a working house heating unit, like a natural gas powered furnace, to heat your home. And theres going to be even more people in our future.
Jimmy Carter started doing that when he was President. Ronald Reagan went right back to oil. Just think what the world could be like if we would have continued that with renewable resources.

Keeping Iraq's oil would be an international war crime. The fact that Trump is advocating this action tells you all you need about him.
Beyond that, wouldn't "keeping the oil" require pumping it out of the ground, first? In other words, he's not just talking about taking natural resources away from a defeated enemy, he's talking about a long-term occupation.
And morally speaking maybe that's not much different from going in, overthrowing a foreign government, and trying to install a new one that will be "friendlier" to US interests. But in practical terms is a much more blunt and transparent way to achieve those ends, and thus a more costly one (in terms of money, political capital, human lives, etc.) as well.
One only has to look at Iran to see what can happen when you install a government against the will of the people. Iran had democratic election and their new President didn't want the UK to continue taking their oil. As a favor to the UK, the US staged a coup and installed the Shah.
Trump is not planning to keep or steal any oil....he is planning to negotiate a $1 USD oil contract,,,,hihi

Karen Vargas: Venezuela has the largest oil reserves in the world and it's heavy crude. There's only one refinery in America that processes that particular crude, Koch industries.
Connect the dots and you'll start to see why the U.S. is suddenly concerned about another nations democracy. Also notice that the Venezuelan people aren't revolting against their government despite the crippling sanctions by the U.S.
The situation is very complex in Venezuela and U.S. intelligence as well as U.S. corporatism have been instrumental in the unrest, much like what's happening in Hong Kong. Never let a good crisis good to waste.

Yeah, I really think they should have actually talked about the situation in venezuela. It costs them credibility when they blatantly cherry pick the facts they want to include. Russia backing Maduro is pretty important. I am whole-heartedly against trump, but shows like this should care a little bit more about the facts, obviously omitting things that doesn't side with their narrative hurts their credibility.
A good fiction writer could come up with all kinds of reasons why the US and Russia are on opposite sides of this one. It makes sense for the US to back Guaido: he's a right winger, and the US never tolerates leftists governing in Central and South America. So, is Russia squaring off against us just for international theater? Are both nations just throwing some cash to their arms industries?

There are very clear reasons why both countries have gone the route they did. Russia has given huge loans to the Venezuelan government, if there is a radical shift like this, and the dictator they are backing gets ousted they could very well lose a lot of their investments. America on the other hand has historically always opposed authoritarian dictators and supported democracy (with exceptions of course, yes the usa has installed some dictators)
Russia and China are the ones who have a very clear vested interest in keeping maduro in power. The usa getting involved isn't quite as straightforward
