Good game for the Cubs. I always notice when a team scores a ridiculous amount of runs in a game, they usually don't score much the very next game. We'll see what happens.
Overall your statement may be true. But this Cubs team is an extremely weak minded bunch.
When they break out like this it clears the mental block. Look no further than 17-3 vs Wash and a 9-1 record that followed.
Look at risp starting last Friday. Then Saturday. Then Sunday. Then Monday. Something like 2/24.
When things are bad they don’t fight/grind and turn it around in a 3-2 walk off win.
Instead they lose close game after close game until something like this happens and then go on to win several games by 3+ runs afterwards…until the next downswing occurs to where they go in a shell waiting for something good to happen.
This sir, IS THE TRUTH. AND CHC IS THE MOST WEAK MINDED, FRONT RUNNING, FRAGILE TEAM, IN ALL OF MLB.

My question is why was Lively in so long
Their bullpen was mostly used up as they used 6 relievers in yesterdays' game, so Lively had to be the sacrificial lamb and eat up some innings so they could rest up. That's why position players were pitching later in the game as well instead of relievers.
Can't believe the Cubs didn't add a couple of arms in the bullpen. Let's ride Michael Fullmer to the playoffs. 👎

Ben Lively is the first MLB pitcher to allow 13+ earned runs and 4+ home runs in an outing of 4.0 innings or less (since earned runs became an official stat in 1913). Ben Lively came into the game posting a very good 3.23 ERA in his last 6 starts..

@@BOBMAN-zt9fz agreed. Winning comfortably up on 9 runs is insane, and the way the offense has been playing as of late is arguably the hottest in the league. Pitching needs to get it together. We have a decent bullpen.

We don't see Kay that often. I guess this is why. But I'm glad he got in there when he couldn't hurt us and got some pitches in and saw what can happen at two outs. Cubs had 1 error ... I assume that was Madrigal deflecting to Swanson the fifth. There were two outs and a man on third. He makes that play, Mclaine doesn't drive in that run and they stay at 2. Still like to see solid D all the way. But 3 touchdowns and a missed extra point insulated everyone from any mistakes.
