When I was little my parents bought me a metal toy model of the Mach 5. The illustration on the box looked just like the cartoon version. Inside was a conventional round-nosed toy car painted to look like the Mach 5. This car operates on the same principle. It isn't actually shaped like the original, it's a sad approximation, but the makers are depending on all of us not being able to tell the difference.
It genuinely looks incredible. I wonder if they actually built a fully functional one, considering the movie was made entirely of green screen wizardry.
