- This was the first day of the rest of my life. Sounds dramatic but when you live 25 years battling a chronic illness as painful as Sickle Cell Anemia you'd understand. I've dreamt of this day for as long as I long as I can remember. November 9, 2017 was the day God answered my prayers.
Come along with me, this is only the beginning!

This is truly amazing. Thank you for giving me a more in-site of what happens during the process. In January of this year (2019) I have received the call that I have been praying for for years. I will also be receiving a bone marrow transplant and I am SOOOOO EXCITED!!!! I don't have my surgery date yet. Congrats on being cured from sickle cell.
I'm so happy to hear that my videos are helpful :) We thank God for this amazing opportunity He has given you. I pray that He keeps you and guides you throughout. Wishing you the best! Feel free to reach out, if you need someone to talk to!
My Sickled Cells, first off, it is so sweet and kind of you to want to take time and chat with me. Thank you for doing that for me. I will most definitely reach out to you. I know my husband will be thankful as well especially since moving to Atlanta I had no one to talk to about my insecurities about this. Waiting really puts your mind through so much wondering. Like, is it really going to happen or why haven’t they find a match yet, even though I know it takes time and that God will never take something that is for me away, but I am human.
I am writing a school project on sickle cell disease and its treatments.
And i must say, i am absolutely thankful that you've decided to documents this because it is just so fascinating to see from the patient perspective!
Thank you so much, i hope your treatment goes well & i love the positive attitude and outlook that you show!
Thank you so much :) that is so nice of you to say! My day is made!
I received the transplant and I'm doing better the chemo really messed my skin up but it's healing
I am happy to hear your skin is doing better! I found mine was really bad for a few months but then cleared up and was nicer than before!
Happy for u sis. I called u sis because I also have sickle cell DISEASE so. Which hospital is this?
Thank you, hope you are doing well! It was done at the Tom Baker Cancer Centre.
India mey scikal cell ka testament hai keya sir
In tears as I watch your video. My 3 week old just received an SS diagnosis and I don’t want her in any pain. Can You share tips on how to get on the transplant list? Was your donor a sibling and can share your experience on the after-effects of the transplant? God Bless you
Awe thank you :) I think for everyone the process is a bit different. For me I was only considered after I exhausted all other options. Red cell exchange and hydroxyurea were no longer helping. After my sisters persistence, my hematologist eventually considered me and did HLA testing (which is the matching process for myself and my donor) then sent in a referral to the BMT physician. Yes my older sister was a 10/10 match thankfully. I posted a few videos outlining my post transplant experience, take a look at those :) there is just a lot of side effects to list. Wishing you and your baby the best on this journey to health! Please let me know if there is anything else you need!
My sister did it and someone actually reached out to us and let her know but speak to her Hematologist (sickle cell ) doctor ask them how you can get it started but I’m also going through it pretty soon so I’ll tell you what you need to expect: from someone who has it 13 years and my mom dealt with it for 19 almost 20 years and it will be hard to see her in pain but you’ll have to find ways to help her for me I was taking pills at 5 had to take several medicines to keep the pain down but but since she’s to young theyll be other ways I also did transfusions to keep it down they’ll be times out of no where waking up in the middle of the night in pain I hope this helped you but it’s so emotional for me I had to reply sorry for keeping you so long if you read this

Thank you very much :) I had it done at Tom Baker Cancer Centre in Calgary Alberta
May I ask what was the cost?
@lifeasmya I'm also getting ready for transplant this month on the 27th and I am all over the place. Lol. Starting chemo Thursday. When are you doing yours?
Heyy I had my stem cell transplant on Nov 9th 2017! Wishing you the best of luck
How are you doing? Blessings upon you!
I am doing well thank you, getting better slowly but surely! Hope you are doing well @@berniecole5757
congratulations. There is the information that the treatment affects fertility...can you say if this is the case?
Diaspora Afrikan Renaissance Channel Thank you! Yes the chemotherapy and radiation definitely can affect fertility. At this point I'm not too sure what effects I will experience but I froze some eggs prior to transplant just in case. Egg preservation was definitely a long, hard and expensive process but worth the peace of mind now.
Can we get an update?
Yes definitely, I'll work on an update video soon :)
Ok thanks. Was your sister a haplo match or exact match? Same mother and father?
We were a full 10/10 match, same mom and dad
Does this cure sickle cell and how many days you stayed in hospital
Yeah it has the potential to cure sickle cell! I was fortunate and am officially sickle cell free!! I was an inpatient for about 2 weeks! Then was discharged but had hospital appointments every 2-3 days for about 100 days.
how much is ?
I'm not too sure of the price, in Canada it is covered under our health insurance.
Just tryin to get prepared to do this I’m so scared 😟 has me in tears already but also exited sickle cells is no joke
Hey when are you having your stem cell transplant?
