I don't understand how people constantly complain about autofocus, tracking etc. This camera is intended for cinematographers specially and people who use manual focus with cine lenses not vloggers or youtubers. For comparison, the Z-Cam 8K camera records in 8K, has a 4K in 120 FPS, 12 and 14 bit RAW internal, for a same price you get as the Panasonic S1H, that doesn't come even close to that.
At least I'm not complaining about AF, I simply can't just skip it as a review. I don't expect AF to be good, if it was good it would be a pleasant surprise!
@@TheLokCheung Absolutely! Your review is completely honest and depicts the reality and what one should expect from the camera. In any case, keep up the good work with the superb reviews 👍
Finally a real world review for this camera! Thank you, the price is really huge deal and that's great for upgrading from shooting videos on old dslrs.
Why, it's the middle of London. As long as you keep your wits about you there isn't an issue. It's it because he has dark skin? Are you a racist? 🤣 I suspect he was just wanting to get on the internet with Lok.
What a reach lmao. The guy isn't even that dark, I really doubt the commenter is being racist. He could have just been thinking about talking to him, but its not a good look to look at the gear and then around at other people. Reads as checking to see if anyone is looking. Also, people get stabbed in the middle of london lmao.
At around 5:55 the video incorrectly claims that the Remote port facilitates control of aperture, shutter speed, etc. It does not; it's just a Sony LANC port for start/stop.
CAF is definitely not super usable on the Z Cam cameras (I have some videos up where I test it with similar results to what you got). For vlogging, what I've been experimenting with lately, and it seems to work really well, is to plug a decent antenna into the camera and use the mobile app with single AF (and then not move around too much). With the mobile app in single AF mode, you can tap to focus and it seems to work really well... and since a decent antenna gives the camera good wifi range, I can usually make it work from around 5m away which is enough for most of what I do. :)
I had been trying to use USB-C cable as much as I can, but you're right a lot of time the wifi from it is good enough and it would be so much more convenient!
The terrible AF isn't really a breaking point for me, I don't know one cinema camera that I've used in the past where I left it to the cameras built in AF to do the work. Most of the time, when shooting film I rack focus manually with a focus puller. Still a great camera for this price point especially if you've got M4/3 glass or an adapter already.
What was going on with the wobbling in some of the tripod shots? Was the OIS left on? Maybe a bad interaction with the rolling shutter. Can you do a remote focus pull focus with the phone app? How well does that work?
Thanks for this...this is very informative. I wish i got this sooner. which cable did you use to connect the camera to the phone and can it connect wireless?
Thanks for the review, do u have any suggestion if i wanna buy a budget professional cam? This one is good, but looks a bit too small, plus difficult to control ..
It is great that you can get cameras like this at this price point. Great idea with the network port and storage options. Auto focus is not a problem, I wonder would you selfie lot get good focus if you just set aperture to f4-8 and set your focus distance to the length of your arm and then you would have some breathing room with a higher f stop. That's if you have good light or ISO I guess.
I thought your handheld footage looked OK, at least in terms of the Rolling Shutter. It was not too jello-ish. When you demonstrated it with the whip-pans, later in the video, it seemed truly awful. Were the whip-pans played back at the recorded speed - or did you slow it down?
Can anybody tell, how is it in comparison to GH5 in picture quality? Those two are close in the price range, and I'm hardly looking for a piece of advice.
It really comes down to stabilization. If you plan to ever film handheld, the GH5 is the only one that can do it. If you need to shoot raw, the Zcam is the only one that can do it.
"It's got a Canon battery which many people have got" Maybe they have, but Canon users don't usually have micro four thirds lenses. Or am I missing something
It would be a great Camera, if the price was under $500. But at $800, there are so many better options on the market. 11 Stop of Dynamic Range is not really good, 2.3x crop is bad, no dual native iso 640 and 2500 is other bad point in the price range. It's an expensive vídeo Camera, because at this price what is offer is not good enough for video and at the other hand it doesn't have any photo capability like the other Hybride Camera in this price range as good or Even better for video. It's would be a Nice or great Camera, if at this price range they would offer the best on the market Level for the price. But is not really the case. Maybe an upgrade Z-Cam E2C M2 at the same price, but with better boby, sensor, processor, specs and with More Mount Opción like Fuji X or Sony E, would a Beast!! Best saler! With full sensor 4k up to 60p. Better Rollins shuter. Dual native ISO 640 & 2500. 13 stop dynamic range. 16 stop HDR video more. Full HD 120 or 2.5k 120p full Sensor. SD and SSD recording. A Sony battery and a better one. The Option to Choose between MFT ou X-Mount Fuji or Sony. Everyboby would buy one, for the price and posibility it would offer compare to the price range competitors Hybride Camera.
if i look at the image quality, i would still prefer the original BMPCC/BMMCC instead and am even cheaper, better DR (13 Stop), CinemaDNG/RAW (12Bit), ProRes (10Bit)... There is still a few €/$ left, for external microphone, screen (or Accsoon CineEye for Smartphone), battery... i think that the top-mounted iPhone on the E2C, with the front camera makes better shooting and that without the filmicpro app... then you don't need the Z-Cam underneath anymore. Sorry Z-Cam, but you're gonna have to do better than that. And maybe CinemaDNG, instead of Australian BRAW in Chinese ZRAW. Maybe choose a Fairchild sensor instead of Sony. Sony is built into almost every smartphone and can make even more beautiful recordings than what is built into E2C. The idea with smartphone as controller and screen is good, but then the E2C worst Sony sensor must make better recording than the smartphone itself.

It has been hard to find info about the e2c. Thank you! I learned a lot.

@8:55 yo was about to get jacked.
8:55 watch out for thieves Lok
No worries, all my stuffs were in front of me

Thank God finally someone Reviewed this!! been looking everywhere for Z-cam E2C review!!! Thanks Lok
2:25 *Your face is out of focus*
This review is the best of all the reviews i have come across
Thanks for this! I wonder why there aren't more people talking about this camera?
Please do a video on the difference between the Z cam and the Sigma FP
Plus you don't need a gimbal if you have lok's hands 👐
It's Lok from Drev TV! I use to watch those vids all the time! Hey Lok how Alambi and Kai doing these days?
Does auto focus work with manual lense?
Desqueeze anamorphic?
what about wired connectivity with android phones?

human tracking AF is terrible (unless you've set it up wrong)
Dammit, I thought your profile pic was a hair on my screen.
Does the, camera can also charge the iphone at same time when connected?
Portkeys monitor is said to control all functions on this camera as well as the other E2 series of cameras.
how suitable is this camera for youtube content creator? i am looking to buy one for my youtube channel.
Though it might not be a very necessary question, Can this Cine Camera take still photos? And how does it perform. Lok :=)
Great video. I wonder why they switched the battery from the Sony to Canon?

Love this review. Thanks! Nice colors and location.

Simply a USB-C to Lightning cable from Apple. Yes it works with wifi, it comes with a wifi antenna!
Thanks for the review, do u have any suggestion if i wanna buy a budget professional cam? This one is good, but looks a bit too small, plus difficult to control ..
Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera 4k. $1300 for insane features and comes with DaVinci Resolve Studio, which is worth $300 alone.

No photo, can I do screenshots from the video though? This is a need to know
You can always grab a still from your footage, whatever your camera is.

Great review, thanks!
where can I find this for $800? from a junky in an alley?
I’m think of getting the E2-C for my TH-cam videos and a A cam for interviews to go with my LUMIX S5.
Probably more of a B cam to the S5
@@sittingnowtrue.
I have the E2 + BMPCC4K. I have to say the BMPCC4K is easier and quicker to use. I think the FPGA method makes it more flexible than ASIC on the E2.
what lens can i use on E2C?
can i even use sony zoom lens on it?
I believe there’s an adapter for Sony lenses now yes.
The mount is native to MFT on the model shown in the video, but now they do EF, E, PL and some others. It really depends on the model you get.
That color corrected shots of the ducks looked beautiful. Interesting cheap cinema camera.
Thanks, really great video! What phone mount are you using here ? Cant find any good with male 1/4 screw and also 360 rotatable.
its magic arm
11:52 Welcome to Trafalgar Square 🏴🍺😆

I didn’t know Lok Was back !
How is the video latency when using your phone as a monitor??
I have a 5d MK IV and the Canon app has EXTREME latency issues.
I don't know if you know that you're focus is off or not
06:27 I could get this for this feature alone. Solid and innovative little camera. Great review Lok!!!
6:07 hahahha!
*4/3 sensor not MFT
this is just like gh5 with AF or maybe worst actually lol
I love you ! New sub!!
nice review
AF, who needs it?
jesus...
Very nice kit for the money...
not even 4K 60P, I'd just add couple of hundred to get BMPCC 4K 60P , 2.7K 90P you'd be much happier
"Just use your phone" who shot video better than this cub???))))
All the time it’s focused on background.
The autofocus is off....
I love this guy ..just a pitty i cant hear 1 third of what he says 😂
GREAT DESIGN, SHIT CAMERA.
I'm waiting for a BMPCC with ZCAM design!
I don't see how it's actually worth $800... Squirrel footage... Take my money! 🤣
cool, way better than the fs 100 that took all my money
Yes Lok is a FE
welcome to the truth 🗺
Make it full frame!
There's a full frame one
u r not in focus tho
oh men that black yellow red is my Country flag.

Overpowering magenta and blue.
Hmm
I thought this channel died!
2650$ here in Canada.... Better of with a c200
You're probably talking about the E2 that shoot 4K/120p. This is E2C, just US$800 around CA$1065
And isn't the c200 over $6,000 Canadian?
