Someone comments on my channel saying they heard from me here. So I check out your channel and then see a HEAVENLY pour... I'm like whaaaat? I find it VERY cool that you filmed your take on my latest discovery. You really did everything pretty much the same and it was so fun for me to watch. The only difference was the artist loft colors and the fact that I did not wait and let it set after pouring, I moved it right away. You still got the exact cloud effect caused by the satin enamel by DecoArt. The liquitex pouring medium has nothing to do with the way the paint reacted (I heard you say that in your video). It's just real pouring medium. It's the ingredients in the enamel paint combined with the others and poured in such a way that it creates heaven :) Your painting is beautiful and thank you so much for sharing :)
I watched this. I watched Mely D's and I watched this again. Brava on achieving the effect. It's lovely, and you sold it already. Was there ever any doubt?! You are a marketable lady.
I really loved the first poor and I was sad when you poured the other one in the middle but that was until I saw it open up in the end and it was so much more beautiful I think! I love the clog pores haven't done one in a long time. Haha I'm doing this voice to text and I'm leaving what it says there about the cloud pours because I got a big laugh out of it!!
This video popped up on the side bar while I was watching another video, so I thought I would watch it again. It was really cool to sit here and watch you do this while I held my painting-seeing it develop and follow the progression to my finished product. It was like watching it develop cell by cell and line by line and to know where the paint was going to move before it happened. It was a great video and it is a GREAT painting. I love every square inch of it!!!
Thank you SOO much! I really thought that one turned out so lovely... I have a 20X20 I did with metallic gold and black... and of course most of the black was hidden... but it is so beautiful just like yours as well!
Hey Sandra! I have been trying MelyD style pours as well not using floetrol. You did a great job! Its crazy the world that opens up when using more water and no floetrol! I may be hooked. Maybe we should do something together sometime. I have been doing puddle pours as well. I LOVE your outcome!
The first pour was stunning. I like the way more blue showed up in the second pour. And the bronze. Tree ring pours often end up looking like some form of deep tunnel. Awesome effect.
Oh what a beautiful result! Love the metallic and the white and the blue. I must try this. I am sooooo new at this, have ideas, but am almost 'afraid' to mess up. Crazy, I know.
I had also watched Mely D do this and you did a spectacular job of emulating what she did. I’m also going to give it a try and can’t wait to see what happens. I bought my satin enamel paint this past Sunday so I have what I need now to get started. Thank you again for being so generous to show us novices all your wonderful styles and attempts that we would know nothing about without you. Love your videos!
Very similar. You and MelyD are my favorites. I’ve learned pouring mostly from you. Thanks so much. I really loved the first layer, I wouldn’t have poured the second, but left it for a new pour.
I greatly appreciate that you’ve taken the time to share what steps you took to mix the paint as well as what you are doing and why. This gives the rest of us the opportunity to try this technique with a higher chance of achieving a similar result without having to waste our precious paint. I’ve just subscribed!
Then you need to find the DEcoArt Americana Satin Enamel in the 8 oz tubs.. to mix half and half with another white... it is the key to the cloudy effect... no silicone either!
I think Melly D only actually did 2 pours because with the first one the white ended up really taking over; so she did a second one on top of the first but the second time around she added a bit more green, and maybe even a little less white. Conclusion-2 pours are not a requirement to get the desired effect. 😊Happy pouring!
Gorgeous! I’ve found that the secret to ethereal looks-and many other amazing results!-is the addition of enamel paints. When I first started out I enthusiastically grabbed whatever paints I’d collected over the years for my first pours. Those pours were some of my favorites and I believe it’s due to the paints I used.....I had small bottles of”air-dry”enamel paints by “Delta”(for painting on glass/porcelain surfaces)that I used and if they weren’t so expensive, I’d use them in every one of my pours. I’ve combined them with acrylics like Mely has, and used them on their own-all with amazing end results. Enamels dry looking the same as when wet & when they do dry(we’re talking days here;)the air dry enamels are as smooth, shiny and hard as a shellacked acrylic painting(almost but not quite as shiny as resin). How heavy it is when dry is a potential issue, depending on substrate used but the potential is intriguing to say the least😉
It’s BEAUTIFUL!!!! I think the colors are so pretty. I will be trying this soon. I love you art!!! You are so talented. Thanks for all the instructions which are so helpful.
Thank you Shelly... Its because I used Liquitex Pouring Medium instead of my usual Floetrol and the 1/2 and 1/2 mixture of Artist Loft white and DecoArt White satin enamel
I love this pour. I would have kept the first one. Anyway, I attempted this, and I invented a new look, the Cloudless Effect or Clear Skies! hahaha Going to give it another try today. Both times you poured on this were gorgeous, Sandra. Bye.

Mema in Oklahoma, Hi, thanks for generosity in sharing you lovely art and tips with us❣️ I've heard you mention a chart that you refer to in determining how much paint you will need for a particular canvas. Could you direct me towards finding that chart for myself? 😯💙
This is a beautiful pour. Congratulations. I’ve been pouring for a year now, and recently bought Mely D’s original cloud effects painting. I have been unsuccessfully trying to recreate the cloud pour. You do it so easily! I’m starting to work on a theory of effects. Would you mind sharing how many feet above sea level you live? I live only 120 feet above sea level. I’m starting to wonder if altitude is having an affect on the effects. It would have to be significant, though, I think. Hope you aren’t offended by this off the wall question!
In North Carolina. Had to look it up.. about 500 ft above sea level. I think it is everything to do with half Artists Loft FlowAcrylic and half DecoArt Satin or eggshell white paint.. then it and every color has a small amount of Liquitex pouring medium and the rest is water added until it is a melted ice cream consistency. No silicone. Works like a charm
Yes! thank you! I have the chart on my Facebook group... if you are on facebook, come join the group! It is listed in the files. If you aren't on Facebook, you can email me sandra@sandralett.com and I will send it to you there! facebook.com/groups/662775557398434/
I'm having trouble getting hold of the satin enamel would satin varnish work the same I wonder? And I have also seen one where Americana gloss enamel was added?? Help Please?!!
I keep all my drips, for the most part, and save them in a big Tupperware storage container. I use the acrylic paint skins to make jewelry with... if you search Sandra Lett jewelry here in TH-cam it will pull up a few videos
It’s absolutely beautiful, but it seems like a lot of wasted paint by doing two layers, I wish I knew what the significance is. But yours turned out absolutely stunning Sandra!
Always 1:1 with Floetrol. Then add water. For the cloud effect. It is 1 part Artist Loft white to 1 part DecoArt White Satin enamel. Mix that up. Then add a squirt of Liquitex pouring medium. Then use Liquitex pouring medium in the colors. This is a MelyD recipe. Then you add water. Don't have ratios. You just have to watch the video
No. I used just maybe a spoon full of Liquitex pouring medium to the colors.. a lot more to the full cup of white, then added water to a good consistency. No silicone
Replaces silicone..less oily residue. I add a drop per cup of color mixture except white or black. Very little stirring. Ogx Serum Coconut Milk Size 4z www.amazon.com/dp/B00JKQH9JA/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_tz1CCbCEMXX6M
So you said you used about "one or two tablespoons of Liquitex Pouring Medium" and a bunch of water... but how much paint did you put in approximately do you think? And how much artists loft and how much of the enamel did you use?
I put maybe 2 oz of all other colors, but ended up with at least 6 oz by the time I added the bit of Liquitex PM... it stayed so thick. Kept adding water. The white I probably mixed at least 5 oz each of both brands and ended up with at least 12 oz by the time I was done.. used more pm on it.
So Sandra 2 Oz paint to 6 Oz pouring medium to Artists Loft white and satin enamel and bother colors or 2 Oz of Artists loft white and satin enamel combined with 1 T PM then water to equal 6 Oz. I am so confused.
@@michelel1852 I believe it is OGX coconut milk serum which some people use as their silicone, but, in the written description, she states she didn't use silicone in this pour. She is duplicating MelyD's pour (Simple Is Best - 10 (Cloud Effect)) and MelyD never uses silicone. She did, however, add OXG to a separate pour on the side during this video.
The reason Mely D poured on top is because she made the mistake of pouring white in the bottom of the cup! You do not have to pour twice, but put your main/favorite color in the bottom followed by the white and then layer the other colors with a bit of white now and then.
@@SandraLett maybe if the end of the ring pour is dominated by white you can quickly add a bit of you favorite color to the cup before pouring out the very bottom white, that may have sunk. You will have to halt the pouring process for a few seconds and then continue, but I do not think it will be evident if you have not moved the canvas yet and just hit the middle again. Hope that makes sense.

What do you mix the artists loft white with? My artist loft white in the 32 Oz container is super thick.

No silicone
What was the sense of doing the first poor when you just poured it all off?
.
Beautiful, can you please explain OGX.
What is OGX?
@@michelel1852 I believe it is OGX coconut milk serum which some people use as their silicone, but, in the written description, she states she didn't use silicone in this pour. I added Liquitex Pouring medium to it

@@SandraLett might have to do with the thickness - whether it drops to the bottom. In case you want to experiment more....
Thank you! I will remember that for the next time... I appreciate the advice!
Ho quel dommage .... la fin ! il était sublime et en final .. je suis un peu déçue .... merci pour le partage :-)
Donc, désolé pour ça ... C'est très doux en couleur ... mais quand même très charmant
does't look like Melyd but it sure is lovely
Thank you!
Why not just coat canvas in plain white then do the rig pour? It seems like the first ring pour was totally lost.
It is done with the intent of the white taking over to give it that ethereal and cloudy look
