Thank You! I was searching for ideas on how to add vibrant colors to match my color theme of burnt orange, yellow and sage green for a bunch of cutting boards a friend made me from my left over butcher block counters, and your video was great, also Thank you for the wax tips, I have oiled my counters 3 times now and still feeling they need something more and I am sure the wax will be the missing link. I am going to try to make my own plant based colored water.
The orange is Tumeric. What's the green? Grass maybe? I wouldn't mind a green cutting board. And if it comes in a powdered form it can be mixed with the mineral oil.

Funny, I'm just starting to make cutting boards and wonder if some food coloring would work. Might test it out.
Thank you for the video.
Did you test? I’m thinking the same thing.
I appreciate the effort in your experiment. I may try using beets fresh from the garden for my own experiment!

Thanks for trying this.
I've often wondered if other products could be used for staining cutting boards.
Hi Paul,
Yeah, there doesn't seem to be a lot of info on this topic. I will have to experiment more. Thanks for watching and commenting.

Tried and True Wood Stain- 100% solvent free, zero VOC, and safe for food and skin contact (Pint, Dark Walnut)
Interesting idea, I like it. Thank you.
I wouldn't use tumeric based coloring because that color will depends of Ph level of the desk, so cutting certain goods can change color of desk
.
Thanks, this is a more cost effective solution verses using exotic woods, Cheers
I'm thinking about dying oil with coffee grounds or something red. Any ideas?

I’m gonna try a coffee (for colour) and tea (for tannins) mix.
☕️🤠
Let me know how it goes.

An American Artisan - I wussed out on the kitchen table. Lol. Went natural.
One day I’ll try it on something smaller.
Great channel. 😎
I have used both tea and coffee and they work very well
@@sharlvw - Thank you. Good to know. 👍
Me sitting here after I stained my cutting board -.-
Can you use a stain on your board? Is it good safe? Then would you use the oil for the final coat?
What about food coloring mixed with mineral oil
Hi Michael,
That's actually a really good idea. I will have to experiment with this more.

Did you ever try this? Does food coloring plus mineral oil do better? I’m looking for ways to add green
this same question ran through my head...
Less water and you will get a more intense color
Hi Dennis,
I think you are right.-Andrew
I detect a Mass. accent... am I right?
