Hi Bryce and Mike. I just want you to know that on multiple occasions, you have been the “messengers” sent from God to answer my prayers and inspire me with what God would have me know and do to overcome the world. I just want to thank you for your efforts.
This is the best definition of hope I've encountered in all my 62 years of living! For years before, I felt invisible, unlovable by God. There were just too many of us to begin with and then too many amazing daughters that I simply couldnt compete to get his attention to merit His love. It wasn't until I read something that helped me to understand we don't stand in a line and have our 30 second moment with the Savior to feel the prints of the nails because he has to get through 2500 souls that day! I understood He is not limited by linear time and can be having infinite NOW moments with everyone of his children. He has time for me!! When I finally understood that concept, my hope sprung eternal! Suddenly I had more than faith, I had hope! He loves ME. He can save ME. I can trust his promises will work for me. Since that discovery, my trajectory on the covenant path has been one of ascension. My thanks to you for clarifying HOPE! Now I KNOW I've got it!
Love this! If faith is grasping onto the Lord's hand, then hope, to me, is not letting go. Charity comes through the continual connection to Christ. When I feel the Holy Ghost strongly, I feel so much love for the people around me. Lay hold. Don't let go. Feel His love for others. Repeat. Repeat. Repeat.
I feel so much more clarity and enlightenment about hope. Elder Uchtdorf taught us that faith, hope and charity are mentioned in the scriptures oftentimes together. They are like a three-legged stool. It’s necessary to have all three. Without even one, the stool will fall. I’m striving to increase my faith and hope and to pray diligently for the gift of charity.
I too am a convert from Roman Catholicism. My 3 oldest children were baptized as infants but once I learned the truth it was not a hard transition to make to have my younger children, born after my baptism into The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, be baptized at 8 yes old. The blessing and naming given to babies is very reassuring.
I must say, fellas you have out done yourself today! That was wonderful and clear and increased my understanding of faith and hope and charity. Thank you!
So good! I've been pondering a parallel between the ancient "faith, hope, and charity" to the 4th article of faith. I appreciate Bro Day's insertion of who the ancient prophets are associated with each virtue (helps more with understanding ancient temple rites too)
I love your explanations of gospel principles. Thank you for helping me learn more about charity today and realize how change my mind and my heart to be more like Christ, at least to make charity more a part of me.
I loved your approach to Moroni 7’s message of hope and I see Moroni 8 as reverberating that message through a teaching or truth that epitomizes hope through the atonement of Christ to life eternal. The prevalent and false supposition that little children who were unbaptized had no means of salvation has historically been the cause of untold sorrow especially when infant mortality rates were much higher. Moroni 8’s message was a balm to grieving parents that drew several of my pioneer ancestors to accept the restoration of the gospel. I’m so grateful Moroni included it!
Could you help me understand why it says “charity beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things.” But then it says “all things must fail”? Are these things charity bears, believes and hopes for included among all the things that must fail?
Everything else will come to an end. Someday we will not need the gift of tongues - we will all speak the same language. Someday we will not need a few to have the gift of knowledge - we will all know all things. But there will never be a day in all eternity when we will not need the gift of charity.
Concerning 1 Nephi 15:9 (you Refer it as lack of hope) see the answer of Nephi to them in the verse 10. where Nephi relates it to not keeping the commandments of God. 😮 As you Say about dispair another scripture relates it to iniquity. I never thought that lack of hope could come from my disobedience to the commandments of God eventhough if I have faith. 🤔 So I should investigate seriously the commandments of God to see if I am obedient enough. (Sorry for my poor english)
Minute 15:00. I Dreamed A Dream In Times Gone By, When Hope Was High And Life Worth Living ... But The Tigers Come At Night And Tear Your Dreams Apart ... I Always Dreamed My Life Would Be So Different From This Hell I'm Living. Hope is terrific fellas, but, in the words of Dallin Oaks "Don't expect (hope) God to solve your problems". And, in the words of Neal Maxwell, "There is a difference between ultimate hope and proximate hope". So, while God may very well Save you - ultimately - right now on Earth - proximately - you are totally on your own. Hope in an intervention by God to fix your problems ain't gunna happen.
I (Mike) think you are right. But not always. I’ve seen this come out on both sides of the argument. And certainly history bears this out. Life is messy, but God does intervene and show signs (miracles).
I won't go into the details but I've been to the bottom, and you want to know who met me there, it was Jesus and angels that saved me from complete and utter hopelessness when it really seemed that all was lost. The situation didn't change, I understood a little better and I was comforted and He has let me know that I am loved and he sees the situation.

"There are no limits to the Atonement; only your [my] limits of repentance." That is a nugget of gold!!! Thank you 💛
