there was a bbc found footage/mockumentary type movie called ghostwatch that was also based on the same original story that i absolutely love and would recommend. when it premiered it had people legitimately terrified, as it's premise split back and forth between the film maker characters and a 'live' studio anchor, so the viewers didn't know that it was a movie
The crooked man scared the heck out of me.. the uncanny valley looking aspect of him like his limbs and face and movements do not belong in this universe.. gives me that uneasy icky feeling inside like a nightmare.
I saw this in theaters, and it was legitimately unsettling. My favorite aspect of the film is the sound editing. The ambient sounds and decibels change when there’s an entity in the room. It made things a little less scary as a viewer, but I also appreciated the attention to detail.

The case was one of the most documented paranormal investigations, with police actually witnessing stuff happening in the house and neighbours testimonies. There are a bunch of documentaries and tv series about these events and it’s widely known as The Enfield Haunting or The Enfield Poltergeist.

I actually like this conjuring movie more than the others because they do show you some originality or designs like the crooked man, even if he does not look as scary in his first appearance, I like the movie not always focusing on cheap screamers (which it does have) but also other ways to show us what the characters are going through, it feels like it has some more personality at least compared to the next movies in the series
the way I watched this multiple times (Reactors watch this movie and other scary ones) then one random night where I hadn't seen anything scary, I saw a severed head of a nun with glossy eyes, smeared makeup and black flowing down from its eyes in my closet, I thought I was seeing stuff but as I got up to turn on the light literally shitting bricks, whenever I see things and move it changes, but it didn't change when I moved, as if it was actually right there in the slightly opened door of my closet. I had a lot of trouble sleeping that night after I told my mom and even slept with my dog. I've seen ghostly apparitions as a child but they were never as scary as that nun, and funnily enough I would get the weirdest lucid dreams when my bed was positioned so I was closest to the closet.

I feel like that Valek actually possessed the crooked man and bill. But she forgot there were clues in the ed and loraine warren scenes, there are words in the movie that says Valek. You have to look closely. (I spelled loraine wrong).
I live close to the house where this took place in Enfield. New people live in the house and a lot of drunk strangers like to go there for fun and they are always having to yell at them to leave or they will call the police.
Might be controversial but this is one of the few sequels I think is better than the original. Story is excellent and it's scarier than the first one. For sure an underrated horror movie
