Here we are its 2024, this came out 9 years ago and I still come back to listen on the regular and send it to everyone. This is one of my absolute favourite like a versions and I wish it was on Spotify so it could be in my regular play list instead of just on you tube. Fantastic work guys.
This is the best cover I have ever heard. Year after year I keep coming back to TH-cam just to listen to it. Should be released as a single or something. Please Karnivool/LondonGrammar
Easily one of the most underrated Like A Versions out there. This is exactly what the essence of a cover should be - staying true to the original while being undeniably Karnivool. I've voted for this in the Hottest 100 of the decade in 2020.
@@جلال-ه9ع The format on triple J (Australian radio network) is such that you're supposed to cover a song yet make it your own. Some artists do this better than others.
Lizard King yes, I agree. However, there are no restrictions or rules which a cover must conform to - contrary to what the original comment suggests. Though, this is completely based on subjectivity.
@@جلال-ه9ع I answered your question on the notion being due to the format. "Oh, fair enough" would've been fine but you keep going lol. There are better things to do than starting fights on the net you know?
Who cares if Karnivool is popular or not. There are a few hundred thousand people all across the world who have mad respect and love for this Band. Thats"s more than enough fo these guys to keep making Music as they like.
After four years, I'm still listening to this cover, and it's still as brilliant and haunting as the first time I heard it. Kudos, Karnivool. You guys nailed it.
Karnivool are one of the greatest musical talents this country has ever produced..... change my mind. The look the guy on the acoustic gave to (I assume) the lead guitarist... NAILED IT!
They still haven't blown up here in the US and I find it ridiculous. but I have been listening to them for 10 years. My son and my nephew and I discovered them one day, they've been in my top two or three favorite bands of all time ever since. Magical band. Seem like a bunch of great guys too. I had not heard this cover until today. Don't know how I missed it. It's beautiful. Kenny hits that falsetto so perfectly, even though it's right on the edge of his range. Awesome! But you can't really say that KARNIVOOL is not popular, they are huge in places all around the world. And of course, particularly in Australia.
Probably the greatest band to come out of Australia just ahead of Dead Can Dance. Sound Awake is one of the greatest modern rock albums of the past 20 years.
Karnivool has been one of my favorite bands since I discovered them in 2013. I literally just discovered London Grammar and this song last night. Just so happened to look up vocal covers of it a minute ago and this was the first video. Incredible. Both versions are absolutely haunting.
This song is such a beautiful and powerful song by London Grammer. I remember actually saying to my wife one day "this song would be so perfect for Karnivool to cover". I then later found out that Karnviool did this cover of it to which I was shocked that I guessed a song so suited to them. The first few times I heard it I didn't think it was quite as good as the original but now, after hearing it over 50 times, it is incredible. London Grammer have created something brilliant here but for me, this song belongs to Karnivool.
well,I discovered this cover as it released and thought it's good but not reaching the original. Now some years later I picked it up again and tried to find out if it's just my love for the band or if it's objectivley just like I think. And objectivley said I love this version by far more than the original! This is an excellent cover!
2023 and still hits the same as it did the first time the emotions the musical placement and the non over powering instruments letting the story be sung and listened to❤❤❤❤❤❤.
Gotta say though, Karnivool at their most vulnerable is beautiful. Will be interesting if they experiment on that sound on their next album. It worked perfectly with Change Pt1, Medicine Wears Off and Float
Hey now, Letters burning by my bed for you Hey now, I can feel my instincts here for you Hey now By my bed for you, hey now, Hey now Ooh ooh, you know it is frightening Ooh ooh, you know it's like lightning Hey now, now Hey now, Letters burning by my bed for you Hey now, Leave it to the wayside like you do, For you Imagination calling mirrors for you Hey now, Hey now Ooh ooh, you know it is frightening Ooh ooh, you know it's like lightning No no no no Hey now, now Hey now, now Hey now, now Hey now, now Ooh ooh ooh ooh
I can't stop listening to this!!!!! I didn't know who London Grammar was until I heard this and started looking them up. Amazingly mellow and a perfect Vool rendition!
one of the best "Like A Versions" of last year. Totally voted for this in the hottest 100. Looking forward to tomorrow to hear how high she places!!! Good luck Vool you deserve it!!!
Oh my God, what the heck have I listened to? That's so damn good that you would destroy it, if you would try to describe it in words! Amazing musicians for real! Thanks for sharing! 😎👍
Ians voice is so clear and crisp, in Karnivools own right there version is just as good if not better, but London Grammars too is beautiful. Well done Vool, such amazing work creating a perfect mixture of music.
Jesus christ, as soon as I heard that they were covering this song on my radio on my morning drive, I did like a silent scream and double fist to the air, it did not disappoint, absolutely mesmerising, so so so damn good
Flawless cover. Hannah Reid is an amazing, incredible vocalists. Kenny took it on and nailed it. Props to Karnivool. Massive step out of their comfort zone, but nevertheless genius. Just shows how talented the band is
13dirty666 didn’t you know? This band doesn’t have a comfort zone lol. I had the pleasure of speaking to Johno and Drew at a party one night. My boys know NO boundaries. Fucking kill it every time.
Tool and Karnivool actually helped me to understand WHO OUR CREATOR IS and WHAT LIFE IS...❤️ God bless these 2 naturaly, harmonic and amazing beings...Thank you LORD FOR INSTRUMENTS ❤️
Rilkey Brond I love Sleeping Satellite because it sounds so Karnivool, and yet it isn't even Kenny singing. Come to think of it, it wasn't even the current drummer on the drums. Plus it is just awesome.
Fuck yeah dude, its actually Hoss on vocals and he absolutely slays it! The drums were probably Drew because he did all the drums for Themata and thats when it was recorded and you can tell, all the insturments have that Themata era sound.
Couldn't agree more! Ian's other band Birds of Tokyo did an amazing cover of I Heard it Through the Grapevine...and they did it exactly how that song should have been written. :)
It's like this song was made for Karnivool to play. The original version is really good enough, but this one is . You can appreciate the real work these guys made there, masterpiece... I can't say more, I can't stop re-playing it! Can't think of another word other than "Perfect" for this. Thank you so much!
I think these guys brought the experience to the table to refine London Grammars epic original sound you can tell Karnivool takes their work seriously, the outcome is amazing
Amazing retake of an amazing song... Am a karny and cant stop listening to this.. Please Kenny. Keep Karny together for life. !!!!!!!!!!! Fav band forever..
Where I work we make the pre-amp in the acoustic guitar used in this clip. Sounds great! As does the rest. Triple J do such a good job with the mix for these like a Versions.

agreed! it’s a phenomenal cover! I come back here almost every year and a few times each at that!
I feel you! Listened to it the first time they played it and come back regularly
wish it was on spotify
yup - totally outstanding
So here we are pretty much at the end of 2022 and this was 8 years ago and it still hits the same every time. What a song, what a band!
I keep coming back. So good.
Best cover ever, I can't explain the skill involved...
2024 still the same

Lizard King A cover does not have to stay true to the original. Where’d you get that ridiculous notion from?
Oscar L yes, and the point of my reply is that it doesn’t have to be that way. We can go in circles arguing about this all day, bud.

just saw them at monolith last week, packed out crowd that's for sure :)
Karnivool is one of the best bands ever. They are amazing. I can't believe people don't like them hahaahah
As the saying goes if you’ve nothing nice to say keep it to yourself.Massive fan of them, good post.
Karnivool are sick, did someone say otherwise? Pfftt bye don't need their input really 👋
They do what only special musicians can do. Take you to ecstasy, very spiritual. Even as a cover.

Not going to change your mind or even try, you're 100 percent right. Drew Goddard (guitarist) is an amazing talent.
10 years on, still gives me goosebumps every time I hear it. Still pissed it didn't rate in the hottest 100 LAV
It's a crime they are not more popular. I found them a few weeks ago and they've been blowing my mind since. Incredible band

Such a fantastic cover my wife chose this song to walk down the isle too. Absolutely love it.....
Great choice, this cover is just too good!
Your wife chooses very well!
I would chose this song even for walking away from explosions.
in slomo of course.
so did our good friends! im a gigantic vool fan so was standing as groomsan w a smile on my face the size of the grooms. : )
They took this song from awesome to life changing.
3:20 drummers groove is so sick with the snare ghost notes and hihat accents
Steve Judd is a beast. Speaking of hi hat accents have you come across Baard Kolstad from Leprous yet? Insane drummer.
Came here to see if anyone else pointed this out yet. Judd’s deep pocket and feel really shine here
Hannah's vocals on the original should not be taken head, on such an incredible talent. Yet this version is so great. Easily my favorite one.
My favorite song are singing my favorite band. Thanks for an awesome cover. Love you Karnivool ❤️❤️
Still the best Like a Version there ever was.
