    Can you think of any other True Super Compressor that I missed?

    • @GeeMood
      @GeeMood 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I recently read about the Ultradive from Sherpa, a true super compressor but the price is around $6K, utterly ridiculous for a watch containing a base SW200-1.

    RZE is a company that really puts a lot of thought and effort into their watches and it really shows.

    Hi Shane…’relatively’ new subscriber and I am very impressed with the production value of your videos….outstanding shots and angles with great sound as well. I love your attention to detail with the descriptions and I know some have mentioned the length of your videos which doesn’t bother me at all. If you want to cut down on time though, I might suggest just pick a couple of things you don’t like and briefly comment on them as well as when reviewing the video, look for repetitious phrases or points that sometimes come up 2 or 3 times when stating them once will suffice. Excellent job sir!

    That RZE caseback is perfect as it is. No need to exaggerate things.

    Rze in general checks a lot of the boxes for me. I was saving up for the diver but now... Anyway, yes to the sc comparison video!

    I bought a RLG compressor style watch on sale about 18 months ago $111 black & orange .

    Yes please!! More super compressor style watches reviews!! They are my favorite style of watches.
    RZE definitely has a very congruent design language throughout their models, and it is also seen here. I would have liked a bigger hour hand, but nonetheless it is a very good execution for me, specially with the sizing.

    Nice. Hard for lefties to get super compressors though... need to take off watch to set the internal bezel.

    Holy Cow you pulled out the Lum Tec Vortex D5 🤙 I absolutely love that watch, and had no idea it was considered a Super Compressor! Thank you Shane!!

    So mine arrived today - I bought it the day it was released for pre-order, so I paid $100 less. I must say that it's beautifully designed and I actually like that it seems smaller than 40mm - due to the white bezel (I got the blue/white dial) and my everyday watch is a Seiko Turtle, so I was expecting this to feel really small. It doesn't.
    The attention to detail in the design is fantastic. The texture on the dial and the orange highlights are very nice. The bracelet is so well done - both in terms of design and the fact that it's tapered and quite comfortable.
    Travis from RZE was also very communicative during the pre-order period and I really appreciate RZE as a company.
    The one design aspect that jarred me a bit is that where the bracelet meets the lugs is a 'crease' or an 'angle' in the design and while I get how it fits into the motif, I would have preferred that it be smooth all the way down the lug.
    That being said, I'm quite happy with the purchase and this is a great addition to my collection.

    I really do like compressor style watches , previously owned the Boldr expedition but it wore just a little too big on me . The RZE is very cool no doubt but if i was in the market for one it would be the CW C65 super although that's a lot more expensive than the RZE

    Great Review! I would like to own an RZE some day, something just keeps holding me back. It is a good looking watch. For a true super compressor, I would say CW offers the best "value" for me. While it is more expensive, I feel you get more for your money. They are $1295 on bracelet but you they usually have a $125 voucher but you can find deals during their sale held twice a year or go used. My only issue is the CW is only 150m.

    • @RelativeTime
      @RelativeTime  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I really need to get a review done on the CW, but it's great. Best bezel on a compressor I've seen. Lume is the only downside, as it's just ok.
      If your looking at used ones, one thing to watch out for is that there was a series of "defective dials" in the brown dial version. A bunch got made where the CW logo at the top was slightly off center. Like less then a mm... it's only noticable if you really look. That color was eventually discontinued but the sold they rest at a hefty discount (like 50%).
      The one I have is one of those, which I don't really mind because I got such a good deal on it.

    • @RelativeTime
      @RelativeTime  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's a darker brown, and the orange stitching matched the orange highlights. Besides I always have to include at least one leather strap per video. Even if it is a hotter than hell summer right now.

    The difficulty with this watch is that by the time I’d get it to the uk (tax, exchange rate etc) it’s only £200 ish off the CW with their discount voucher…

    • @RelativeTime
      @RelativeTime  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's always the trick when dealing with import fees / taxes. Ironicly for us in the USA, CW is one company we have to watch out for when it comes to that. As a lot of their watches are right on the cusp of us getting charged.

    Super compressors look cool, but I'd rather have a traditional dive/traveler bezel.

  • @osgoodbad
    @osgoodbad 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Great review as usual. Very thorough and objective.
    But it makes me wonder about your new format. The entire thing felt pretty negative about a watch that you seem to genuinely like. And I can't help but wonder if it's because you frontload the beginning with all the things you don't like. But then since you can't discuss any of the features in detail yet, you end up sprinkling other gripes throughout the video too as you bring up the case, face, movement, etc. So I simply wonder if dedicating specific sections to what is good or bad is superfluous and alters the tone more than you might want.
    I also really liked the original Resolute so it's a bit disappointing to see them straying further and further from the original. They have an entire dictionary full of words they could use (or at least the entire R section.) They can't find another one?
    Thanks again!

    • @RelativeTime
      @RelativeTime  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That's a good point, I'll have to think about that. I'm still experimenting and thinking about what I want to do going forward.
      I was trying to figure out a format that was a little quicker and shorter to make but didn't sacrifice quality. Although as this one shows when there is a ton to talk about it still doesn't make it shorter.
      I might do a few more then check out the analytics and put up a poll to see what people prefer. Or I might go back and forth between the formats. Someone suggested doing this as a quicker format on things people may not already know about. Like unkown microbrands or Aliexpress watches. Then save the more detailed format for watches that are more anticipated and more people are looking for.

      @@RelativeTime I'll agree with Osgoodbad (and you...) Shane, you've nitpicked a lot on this one, in fact griped somehow (more like a grandma would do for the - still - unmarried granddaughter).
      Coming from NOT a fan of this brand, as their design language (case shape, dial layout) are not attracting me, take what you want out of my comment here. Cheers mate, be well.
      PS Like shorter vids, know you long, won't happen... 😋 I just accept. 👍

      @@RelativeTime Your videos have never struck me as being too long; that said, I imagine it takes extra time and effort to make longer videos.

    • @RelativeTime
      @RelativeTime  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@bonnland Well about every 1 min of video takes about 1 hour of real work to make. (give or take). This one probably took about 15 hours. At least the way I do it with all the different shots and editing and I try to have my thoughts collected and a script written up beforehand.
      I know Dave is about the same, but the way we do things isn't efficient. I mean If someone just wanted to crank something out they can turn on the camera as soon as they get something and wing it. Then with minimal editing (or no editing), it would be more like 2 hours for a whole video. If that.

      @@RelativeTime I want to chime in and tell you that I enjoy your videos every time. You are informative, your style is soothing and the videography is as good as anything I've seen on TH-cam.
      There will always be people who pick nits but they aren't producing their own videos (in most cases I'd bet the critical comments are not from people who know how much work you put in) so what do they know? I'll keep watching and enjoying. Thank you.
      Also, I do like the RZE.

    Go the extra mile to make a watch that responds to water pressure by saying "that's all you got?!" and then put a 12-hour bezel than a diver's timing bezel... um, what? I mean sure it will work but you're kinda sabotaging yourself it seems.

  • @joebuckmaster1908
    @joebuckmaster1908 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    When will watch makers learn that the overwhelming majority of watch enthusiasts do want exhibition case backs on all watches. 99.99999% of buyers are not diving with dive watches, and do want to see the movement they purchased. A pretty boring dial / bezel design, very ho hum.... Thumbs up for the no date though, a fantastic decision.

      That would be like asking car manufacturers to stop making SUVs. It would make things more interesting, but probably not going happen.
