Innovative builds. That hinge shelf you could have made it into a "music box." You know when it opens it plays something. I was thinking "Bleed" by Meshuggah you know something everyone can enjoy.
The editing from 3:08 to 3:12 tho. 😊 The synchronization of sound to background music didn’t go unnoticed It’s these intricacies and attention to detail that makes this one of my favorite drum channels.
David, I love and hate this video simultaneously. I hate that it's a drum being cut up, but your skill and creativity and use of the coolest thing on the planet is awesome. Thing looks sweet!
Awesome stuff! Thx for the inspiration. Just finished mine today. Actually made 4 shelves out of 22 and an 18 inch bass drums i had. Next up: A Bass Drum Coffee Table
man david, that looks so fun to do. i wish i had your woodworking skills but i really do enjoy watching you do stuff like these so im fine with that lol
Made one out of an unused 12" tom right after watching. Looks awesome! Cut up spacers out of ball point pen to make rim flush with hoop. Looking for a cheap tom to make 2 more!
Sweet. I was thinking about whether I can build shelves out of a contrabass. Way beyond my skill level or tool kit, but I think the answer is "someday". Thanks for posting.
Hey those really turned out great! It reminds me of this cool little coffee shop in Solvang, CA that was called "Rhythms." They had a bunch of drums cut at weird angles and mounted to the walls, a snare drum that had dividers in it for straws, spoons, sugar packs, etc... a couple of 18" floor toms made into little tables, a crash cymbal clock and a bass drum lamp hanging from the ceiling.
In college, I had to take a 3D modeling class (non-computer) and one of my assignments was to create a piece of furniture (a very small replica as this was NOT a shop class) that could function as something else. I've always had a strange sense of humor and this is what I came up with: A cylinder that was a cubbyhole for small cats to sleep in. It had a top that was a table for playing cards with your human friends and still have the small cats hang out with everybody as they played cards. Also, the underside of the table had a detachable dart board that was smaller than the round tabletop. So, some folks could play cards or backgammon or chess or just sit around, yakking. Other people could set up the dartboard in another room, away from the cats, or put the cats in another room and keep the dart board in the room with the card players. I got an A+ for my design. 😂😀
Ok, this was pretty fn cool 😎. Never would’ve thought making a shelf from a bass drum shell would even be a thing. I suppose you could make shelves from any size drum then…🤘
can you do a hybrid snare, just to see how it sounds, like body made of one layer metal, wood, and acrylic etc... or idk, something crazy but also usable with a snare. Love the creativity!!
Real nice. Now I can get the cheapest used Chinese knock-off drum set on ebay and if it turns out too trashy, I can always turn it into a set of rock'n roll shelves! Plus maybe a lamp. 1:16 Tool tip (though I'm probably the hundredth tool nerd to write that:) there are purpose-made flush cut saws whose teeth have either no "set" or are even bent slightly upwards, specifically for cut dowels flush whithout scratching the surface. My favorite one is the Japanese version, also called a "Kugihiki". Costs next to nothing and you can even use it for all kinds of other woodwork besides cutting dowels. Very thin, flexible and disposable blade.
2:04 It is said a good rule of (saving your) thumb using a table saw is "if you can touch the blade and rip fence at the same time with one hand, use a push stick". I don't want to be all preachy or anything, but as a fellow drummer I know all too well how much it'd hurt to lose a finger, and there have been a good number of long-running woodworkers who used table saws for 40 years before chopping off a finger the first time. Please use a push stick!
extremely cool and excellent craftsmanship. only thing I would imagine is that replicating it may be done cheaper if they will be painted/ cut. some super cheap kits out there on marketplace/ craigslist.
I have 22" Yamaha YD bass (which I bought because it came with a 16" FT hat that matched my YD kit. I was either going to make a Gong Drum or use it for a shelf
This is just a guess but I wanna say most if not all current manufacturing is done using polyvinyl glue like titebond. Maybe in the past hide glue was used but that probably went out around the same time as calfskin heads.
As long as my fingers are more than a like 2-3" away from the blade I honestly feel like I have more control. Of course for smaller stuff I use one, you can see it sitting on the other side of the fence
Shelves! Out of Drums!
Compliments the floor Tom bin…
If you put a mirror in the one with the hinge it’d be a perfect vanity!
💯🥁
They look really sick
It's like an episode of this old drum..
What color does dw call that white pearl kit you have???
Waiting for the DIY drum bed and drum toilet. Cheers!
Listen to my drumming if ya want the toilet!😉
Like a drum dog bed lol
one day 😂
Might have a flubby low end for the toilet.

Also 3:29.
Alright Dave, you gotta do it. Now you need to find an old maple shelf and make a drum out of it.
You could say these drums now have an improved shelf life 😂 I'll show myself out.
Nice I like drumming and building things I love this!
Now it's time for building a bass drum out of old shelves!
It amazes me how skilled you are… I could only dream of doing this kinda stuff!
This is so creative! Great Job!🥁🧰❤️
Very cool use of drums as furniture. The hinged one with drawers is particularly impressive. Ingenious indeed.
I could watch you craft forever, and the production quality is incredible
appreciate it!
David, I love and hate this video simultaneously. I hate that it's a drum being cut up, but your skill and creativity and use of the coolest thing on the planet is awesome. Thing looks sweet!
The shelf with the door is probably my favorite out of all your builds
Awesome stuff! Thx for the inspiration. Just finished mine today. Actually made 4 shelves out of 22 and an 18 inch bass drums i had. Next up: A Bass Drum Coffee Table
The fact that this man has his own made custom decals for everything, both drum and machinery related, is incredible
Your creativity and work ethic are astounding. Those are gorgeous.
awesome home workshop! and a drum workshop too!
man david, that looks so fun to do. i wish i had your woodworking skills but i really do enjoy watching you do stuff like these so im fine with that lol
Every video is something so creative and interesting. Amazing to see what you can do with old drums!!!!

You're a genius David!
Love the end result...

Dude, you are brilliant! I love it.
Awesome project! Very nicely done as usual
appreciate it man!
Really cool!
Dude you are a HERO
those look incredible! great job on the build. something like that would look great in a music room.
I love how these DeWalt commercials always tie into drumming/music 😂 seriously though, really cool project!
Nice work! Pretty cool!
Wow incredible ideas sir
Awesome Project :D
So rad man. Love the ingenuity. Always love watching these!
OK, you NEED to do a video on how a person your young age has acquired the woodworking tools and skills that you have. This blows my mind.
Hey those really turned out great!

One of my favorite project videos you’ve done. Would love to say I could do that but would need thousands of dollars worth of tools! 😁

Very cool😀
Sick
Lets go! Fantastic content always 💯🥁
This is kid's stuff! My old bass drum is a bong. My old snare is a power-hitter.
You should add LED Lights inside. That would be cool.
Super cool ideas and great videos. Pretty sure you could sell a lot of those
Looks like you had to use your Big Brain 🧠 for all these calculations! Excellent job! Very creative!
hmmmm, I may just have to do this sometime! I've got a cutoff of a bass drum a shortened a few years ago that would be the perfect size for this

U're such a handy kat! geat vid yet again!
I always thought a side table made out of a floor tom would be fun
I want to make one now lol

I just got some beat up shells from a friend and was wondering what I should do with them.
Now I know.
The Norm Abrams of drum modification

Please one day play a double bass kit 🙏

But he doesn't have a double bass drum kit yet and played one yet
I have 22" Yamaha YD bass (which I bought because it came with a 16" FT hat that matched my YD kit. I was either going to make a Gong Drum or use it for a shelf
So when will these be made for sale?! Haha
Can you make another Drum Kit Tour?
And.....how much do you sell these shelves for? I am interested in buying some.
Make some DIY DRUM THRONE videos
Can i remove the pvc veneers from a eastar drum kit and reveal the raw wood underneath?
Where do you get the drumless tracks that you use?
Rdavidr etsy shop when
Probably already exists.
Make a Nesting bass drum!!
It be cool if you made one for me and they both came out great to me
but how does it sound?
Top top bricodrums
Hey rdavidr, do you know if the glue used in drum shells is generally non-animal sourced? Trying to determine if drums are generally vegan or not lol
This is just a guess but I wanna say most if not all current manufacturing is done using polyvinyl glue like titebond. Maybe in the past hide glue was used but that probably went out around the same time as calfskin heads.
@@vajohnaldischarge umm, would love me some calfskin heads !
Where is the kick pedal handle ?
Hm so people give you stuff and you sell it?
