Not only have many people who have worked here commented on many separate instances in which they were discriminated against. Nobody is scrutinizing his character off of one instance, it's the many detailed accounts given by many different employees. Even if it was one thing that came to light, we should be "smarter" than that and know that if hes done it once hes probably done it multiple times, which he has. Discrimination takes many forms, I'm glad people are taking it upon themselves to try and recognize it.

I'm from a country where kvas is not only mass-produced (in a variety of ways and flavours), but is being often made at home, especially in summers -- but I've never seen or heard of beets-based kvas :) Here it's often made with rye bread and/or grains, sweetened with honey, dried fruit and sugar. Its taste can vary a lot, but most common kinds that you can buy in a store would be carbonated, dark-colored beverages, close in look and taste to dark fragrant beer (but with almost no alcohol in it and noticeably sweeter). Very refreshing, and loved by adults and children alike.

I am Polish and have been growing up with kvass :) As you've noticed - less salt. Also, add fresh, crushed garlic (depending on taste, I love garlic and I add ~5-8 cloves), 3-4 bay leaves, 5-10 allspice berries, a handful of peppercorns, and you can toss some marjoram, but it can be a pain to scoop later on. These are for ~5 litres of water.

One and a half tablespoons of salt and one and a half pound of beets, preferably golden, to a 1 gallon jar... ....although that might have been an Imperial gallon, which is about 750 ml larger than a US gallon... with cubed ginger, whole peppercorns, and (if she could swing it) either lemon, pineapple, or orange. (These were fairly pricy imports and not always available in beet season on the Canadian prairies. Even now lemons can be stupid expensive here; back then they weren’t even available most of the year.)

All of the extra flavors he added were not even close to traditional . He might have been making like a wierd spin off on borscht but we don’t add any sumac or stuff like that. You see on other BA shows brad being a distraction in the back and they have to tell him they’re filming, but I love how on It’s Alive they allow the rest of the team to continue making a distraction in the back when they don’t realize it because of brads personality and how he will roll with the distractions and make the show more entertaining

Hey Brad, in Poland (eastern Europe) we used to put couple of bay leaves, whole black peppercorns, some allspice and hefty amount of crushed garlic. I also put one or two mild chilies and couple of cloves.

Make kvass from rye bread. It carbonates and can turn alcoholic. It's a great drink. Ready made kvass can be bought in European stores.

Most store sold kvas is not that good and is artificially carbonated, look for the ones that are stored at low temperature like milk.

You see on other BA shows brad being a distraction in the back and they have to tell him they’re filming, but I love how on It’s Alive they allow the rest of the team to continue making a distraction in the back when they don’t realize it because of brads personality and how he will roll with the distractions and make the show more entertaining
I notice the higher up keep trying to camera bang (ie. get some video time). I can imagine, in a future video, the CEO of Bon Appetit is going to casually walk into the kitchen, I vision them wearing an equestrian outfit, walking around making socially awkward small talk. Enjoyed the video.
