His best friend becomes his biggest enemy. His second family (shield) collapses. and then his only friend really outside of all of this turns against him and they fight almost killing each other.
You wanna know what's even more screwed up.When Steve crashed his plane he was on the pilot seat with seatbelt on.But when they defrost him he was laying down with his shield on his chest.Meaning the crash impact didn't knock him out.Meaning he was alive and conscious and walk and took his shield and laid there until he died.MEANING if he was lucky he had one or two days before hypothermia kills him.But If steve is unlucky enough to have crashed his plane his unlucky enough for it to be much worse.The dark side of the super soldier serum.5 times the metabolism and strength he probably was conscious down there for a week or more waiting to die in the cold.Trying to send a signal,remember memories,going in and out of consciousness.If it was a week or more then hypothermia didn't "kill him".It was lost of strength,dehydration and finally hunger.Steve Rogers was laying there getting hungry,thirsty,delirious,nightmares and cold. :D

The window was smashed open, so basically, there was no protection for him at the time of the crash -- unless he reached back and grabbed the shield before he hit. We don't see him right as he hits, after all; the screen's on Peggy. Chances are he was pretty smashed up by the impact, even if he did manage to grab the shield first. Our theory was that he did make it out of the chair (or was thrown out of it), managed to get his shield (or again, had it already) and likely did the 'let me lie down and rest a moment' which hits a lot of hypothermia victims. On the plus side, hypothermia is not a bad way to go. You basically drift off to sleep and you even think you're warm at the end. So *that* part was bad, but maybe not *that* bad. It's the *waking up* that we thought would be traumatic as hell. There's two things that flashback in the Avengers tells us. One, as you, me and my writing partner all noticed, he clearly got out of the chair and laid down with the shield. But two (and far more disturbing) is the *audio* part of the flashback, where Steve hears someone exclaim, "This guy's still alive!" So let's replay this and look at what that comment means. Steve's conscious enough to hear someone exclaim that he's alive. He's still partly frozen at this stage and who knows in how much pain, because while freezing to death is fairly painless, being *thawed* is pretty damn agonizing, as any frostbite victim can tell you. We know a lot of what the MCU uses is a blend between 616 and the Ultimates. This scene and the one at the end of TFA where he breaks loose and runs through NYC are both fairly close to what happens to him in the Ultimates. Based on that, the following's most likely true: 1. They all think at this point that he's dead, so they're not thawing him in the most painless way possible -- they're thawing him in a way that will best preserve his tissue so they can get samples, analyze his body and possibly dissect him (or at least do an autopsy.) 2. We know from the Agent Carter series and from mentions in The Incredible Hulk that the government has long since gone through all the original samples of Steve's blood, so they're panting to get as much from him as they can -- and talking about how great it is that they found his body, and the tests they want to run. They're also discussing how remarkably preserved he is and what procedures they plan to do in order to get samples from his corpse. 3. Meanwhile, Steve can't speak. He can't move. He can hear all these plans for tests, an autopsy or a dissection or god knows what else, and *can't tell anyone he's alive* so they won't carve him up. *Plus*, once he's conscious like that, he wouldn't dare fall asleep again, no matter how much pain he might have been in, just in case he'd get a chance to show them he was alive. At first I thought did fit well with the character. But after seeing the video around a thousand yes, I could not appreciate the video any more than I have. I. FUCKIN. LOVE. IT. The editing and the timing of the beat of the song is perfect and the ending where Steve looks back at his younger pee captain self really hit me in the heart. Almost like a sadness about how the times have changed for Steve and he's the lost man in time. The editing was so in sync with the audio it was orgasmic, honestly. All the strength of your video relied on the very good picking of the scenes and the fluidity with how each sequences followed each other and that was an amazing experience to watch. I have a big fondness for videos that look "simple" (as in, not necessarily a lot of effects involved) but are very well thought out and have a real relationship with the song they are edited with, it makes them the most efficient to me. I've been lurking for ages, dying over your fabulous editing skills but I felt the need to comment on this video in particular because holy shit. Maybe it's me overthinking things, but I feel like this single video makes a better job of showing steve's darker side than CACW itself and that piece of garbage-plot twist in the comics.
