Model Flying Halton Club - 4th June 2023

Another flight over the Halton club field in Daresbury - this time the mobius camera is mounted on an 8 foot span electric-powered glider. Unfortunately, the air proved to be rather more bumpy than expected, despite the fact there was hardly any wind. You can see the bumps and jerks on the vid!
Initiallly the flight was a bit wobbly, as I had to compensate for the rather forward c of g, as I couldn't mount the camera any further back than the wing leading edge - and as it was so draggy on the lightweight model I call Tango - because it is covered in translucent orange film - and the original name is an untranslatable Chinese pictogram - I had to keep some power on, to stop it flying like a paving slab!
So - although the footage isn't brilliant, it's a lot more stable than the previous offering filmed from my Decathlon that was shown last week!
My apologies for the 'venetian blind' effect - it is caused by the camera 'looking' through the arc of the prop.
The maximum altitude achieved was 400 feet AGL accordng to the telemetry altimeter.

Don't confuse us with RAF Halton, in Buckinghamshire. This Halton is near Daresbury, just a couple of miles outside Warrington, in Cheshire.
We have sole use of a large well-drained open grass field with a landing strip that measures 155 x 37 Metres, oriented East/West.(so no dodging dog-walkers, sheep, or cattle, etc) a hard track leading to a hard-stand and turning circle by the cabin, with heating and cooking facilities, and 7 days a week access - dawn til dusk, set-up tables, and plenty of chairs. (and a proper lavatory - no finding a bush to water!) and the nearest residential house is a good half-mile away.
We fly anything from powered gliders to scale models, aerobats, helicopters and quads.
We even have a control-line circle, if that is your 'thing'.
There is plenty of open farmland on three sides - the fourth has a stand of trees separating us from the Motorway, which is a safe distance away, but can be rather noisy.
Sunday is the best day for casual visitors and potential members, as there is almost always someone there all day. By prior arrangement, weekday visits are possible.
