    Now as of May 2024, you will find petrol pumps at following places in Ladakh
    Leh, Karu near Leh,
    Diskit in Nubra ,
    Tangtse near Pangong Lake,
    Nyoma near Hanle and Tso Moriri (Newly operational in 2024)
    Then if you exit on Manali Leh highway from Tso Moriri then next petrol pump will be Keylong.
    So if you are doing Ladakh circuits as above, you will need to manage about 290 km without petrol pump in case returning to Leh or Karu otherwise if you exit from Tso Moriri to Keylong/Manali then you need to manage about 420 km

      Hi Dheeraj, Many thanks to you for the brilliant content on YT and your website. The information was invaluable for our Ladakh trip. We were pleasantly surprised to learn of the new petrol pump in Nyoma enroute to Hanle last week. If possible please do consider updating the information on your website (which we read through extensively). It's a great alternative to YT and a real treasure house of information.

      Hi I’m from Srilanka
      My husband and I are coming to India next month for Swedish Embassy work. We both decided to go for a bike trip from Manali to Leh but the Srilankan passport holder mentioned that we can’t get Ladakh permit online so how can we get that permit?

    One tip if I may add while carrying fuel in plastic containers. Try to avoid direct sunlight on to them. On high passes where atmospheric pressure is low, the bottle tends to inflate because of the air we filled at lower alitude and creates a pressure difference. Add a direct sunlight to the mix and it only heats up the fuel increasing pressure even more because of the traped heat inside the bottle.
    Carrying fuel in plastic container is possible but one needs to be very cautious about it. I hope it helps, cheers :)

    • @ChandranshuDwivedi
      @ChandranshuDwivedi ปีที่แล้ว +1

      thanks for raising this very important point. one correction is that the heat doesn't remains trapped inside the container. the fuel tries to vaporize due to lower outer atm. pressure thus increasing the pressure inside the container. i will remember your point while travelling. the easy solution will be to fill the containers at the leh or other higher places so the near atm. equilibrium is achieved. otherwise, just opening the container's lid slightly on high passes will release the excess pressure.

    How reliable is Tangste and Padum petrol pumps? Mine is a Tata Safari with 2 litre diesel engine.
    My offroutes are:-
    1. Srinagar- Sankoo (night stay) - Padum- Lamayuru- Leh.
    2. Hunder- Shyok- Pangong- Tso Moriri- Manali.
    Kindly suggest.

    • @discoverwithdheeraj
      @discoverwithdheeraj  ปีที่แล้ว

      Bhai, Padum one is totally relaiable, there are two of them and then Tangtse is also fully operational and I do not see any reason why in season time there could be challenges there.. So, for Padum one I think you should be OK but then for second route you are looking at about 570 km without any petrol pump

    Hello Sir,
    I want to follow the following rout plan
    Leh > Lamayuru > Padum > Purne > Serchu > Jispa (To refil petrol) > Tso Moriri > Hanle > Pangyoung > Chusul > Shyok > Leh
    I have two question
    1. Can I do it by Laddakh rented bike as some part is in Himachal Pradesh
    2. Petrol availability?

    • @discoverwithdheeraj
      @discoverwithdheeraj  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Once you leave Jispa (Keylong to be precise for petrol pump as Jispa does not have any), the circuit till Tangtse after Pangong Lake will be like 670 km and you are looking to 170-180 km if you add Umling La. So, you will be covering this much distance without petrol pump. Hence, you may need to carry it or rely on fue in black.
      Regarding question on rented bike, the rented bike will be allowed to travel on Manali Leh highway so Ladakh rented bike should be able to do above trip.

    Hi @discoverwithdheeraj ! Thanks so much for this valuable information which is immensely helpful for fellow travelers. Here is upcoming plan (Mid Sept 2024) to drive to Ladakh from Pune in XUV500. It has a diesel tank of 70 ltrs and I can expect mileage of 10 kmpl beyond leh. I am planning to top up fuel tank (full tank) at below locations. With the latest petrol pump availability at Nyoma and Tso Moriri, I am of the opinion that I need not carry extra fuel (I might carry 20 ltrs to be on safer side though). But thought of checking this with you. Will you please assess and confirm if my understanding is correct, in general? Appreciate your help, as always!! Thank you!
    Day 7: (20-Sep): Leh - Kardungla - Diskit (Petrol Pump - full tank) - Hunder - Turtuk (Around 206 kms - 5.5 hrs) After lunch and roaming around drive back to Hunder (85 kms - 2 hr)
    Day 8: (21-Sep): Hunder / Diskit (Petrol Pump - full tank) - Agham - Shyok village - Durbuk (mobile network) - ChangThang entry point (check-post at Tangste - (Petrol Pump - full tank) / Wari La route - Pangong Tso (Around 223 kms - 5.2 hrs)
    Day 9: (22-Sep): Pangong Tso - Phobrang - Lukung - Durbok - Tangtse (Petrol Pump - full tank) - Erad - Chusul - Sagala (Kaksangla) pass - loma check post (meets Leh to Hanle route), Mahe village - Rhongo - Hanle (311 / 175 kms 7 hrs, loma to Hanle 51 kms)
    Day 10: (23-Sep): Hanle to Umling la pass (93 kms) - Hanle - Photi la pass (18124 feet) - Chisumle Bridge - Umling La pass (73 kms) (Hanle to Chisumle bridge - 40 kms).
    Most recommended route:- Hanle - Loma (after Loma left) - Nyoma (Jio network and (Petrol Pump - full tank) - Mahe (check post entry) - Mahe bridge - Sumdo - Tso Moriri (Karzok village) (Mahe to Karzok village 60 kms) (total 155 kms - 5-6 hrs)
    Day 11 (24-Sep): Tso Moriri (Petrol Pump - full tank) -Tso Kar - Meroo - Moray plains - Pang - Nakeela pass Gata loops Gateway of Himachal - Sarchu - Suraj Tal lake - Upper Zing Zing bar - Deepak Taal - Darcha - Barsi bridge - Jispa - Gemur - Keylong

    Jabardast information Dheeraj Ji ❤🙏 I have already bought a military standard 20 l jerrycan for my upcoming solo trip in MG Hector. Route I am going to opt is Gurgaon- Manali- Leh- Pangong - Hanle - Umling la - Hanle - Tso Moriri - Karu ( just to get my tank filled) - Keylong - Manali - Gurgaon circuit.
    I am considering mileage of Hector as 6KM/l. Tank capacity is 55 l.
    Will a 20l jerrycan be enough?
    Can I come back to Keylong from Tso Moriri directly with this arrangement? Or in that case, I should consider one more 20l jerrycan?

      No, it is not recommended at all to cover both Pangong and Nubra in one day. Well, after reaching Leh by road, you need to do following:
      Leh Rest next day
      Leh to Nubra
      Nubra to Pangong
      Pangong to Leh...
      This is most recommended. But if weather is fine then on Day 3, you can start by 6 AM reach Pangong from Nubra, spend some time and come back to Leh same day to save a day.

      Now as of May 2024, you will find petrol pumps ar following places in Ladakh
      Leh, Karu near Leh,
      Diskit in Nubra ,
      Tangtse near Pangong Lake,
      Nyoma near Hanle and Tso Moriri (Newly operational in 2024)
      Then if you exit on Manali Leh highway from Tso Moriri then next petrol pump will be Keylong.
      So if you are doing Ladakh circuits as above, you will need to manage about 290 km without petrol pump in case returning to Leh or Karu otherwise if you exit from Tso Moriri to Keylong/Manali then you need to manage about 420 km
