Sir, you explained the working very well but please try to explain things in more detail like why pinch-off occurs and why velocity is greater than drift velocity. It will help those students too who are willing to make VLSI as their career. I love watching your video. Thanks sir.

sir reduce the ads a little bit, i know you need ads for revenue , but it is becoming a bit inconvinient to skip ads for every 3 min

Professor, you talk of variation of 'thickness of inversion layer' but haven't shown yet how to calculate that. Should I interpret 'thickness of inversion layer' as a mere illustration of density of electrons here, as I guess calculation is difficult as there probably is not much of a vertical field in the inversion layer? Then further you refer to 'no need for high velocity electrons'. Should I relate that to my question (video 24, "Channel length modulation in MOSFET") on channel length modulation in that in the channel there is a drift current, and where the channel has been 'pinched off' there is a current maintained by 'high velocity electrons'? If that is so, then is there analogously also a current due to high velocity electrons when Vgs approaches Vto from below while a (high?) Vds is present? Or am I rascaling here...? :)

Sir isn't there inversion channel because of presence of electrons? If we increase the drain voltage, shouldn't the electron accumulate at drain and thereby increasing the inversion layer at the drain?

hi professor, please help solve this
    (c) A CMOS inverter has matched NMOS and PMOS transistors when the current driving capabilities are equal. Consider a CMOS inverter fabricated in the 65 nm process for which VDD = 1 V, Vtn = Vtp = 0.35 V, µnCox = 2.5µpCox = 470 µA/V2 and (W/L)n = 1.5. What is the width Wp needed to assure a matched PMOS transistor?
