So no one argues wave after wave of basically the same ironman suits, but they argue this Thor. I agree this was a pass for me because I have the dark world light armored version, however, I can see it being a must get for those completists who are getting everything AoU or may have missed the Dark World Thor. There are major differences between the two figures (such as silver/gold accents and head sculpt) so I feel it is better than some of the recent ironman releases which may as well be the same figure only palette swapped. HT was not going to "pass" on producing this Thor because they must represent the whole Avengers team from the 2nd movie as also this was an easy figure for them to produce.
As many others already said, if you're not happy about Hot Toys then stop buying their products, simple as that. Plus, why would you buy figures related to a disapointing movie, which is the case with aou ? I'm 34 and personaly I buy figures only when I feel connected to the related movie : Terminator, Robocop, Back to the Future, Heat, Enter the Dragon, 300, etc ... All these guys are linked to an emotion or a memory, something that touched or marked me, mainly as a kid. To me, the point of collecting is to create a bound with cheerfull souvenirs.
Can't say I agree with everything you said, but still a great video and valid points. Like the light-up looked awesome to me. Those rubber arms look terrifyingly fragile though.

A lot of these issues stem from the movie industry more than Hot Toys. The quality looks really good. Marvel makes movies to meet market demand and Hot Toys is following suit. Nothing more to it. I'm not a big marvel fan, partly because of the overproduction of films but that doesn't make it Hot Toys' issue. Nice avengers figures btw.
Great video. But why do you need to buy the entire team? If you don't like a character why would you spend the money on that particular figure. Keep up the good work.
I have stopped collecting Hot Toys figures since last year. The Iron Man Mark 42 is the last figure I purchased. Currently I own about 45 Hot Toys figures. The new figures are not worth the price they are asking for. These are still dressed up 12 inch dolls, come on people. Prices from 3 to 4 years were reasonable, but not what they are asking for these toys today. I am taking a stand and I am not buying anymore Hot Toys untill they lower their prices. As long as we are buying, Hot Toys will never lower their prices. They are starting to ask 1/4 scale prices. This ends now!!!

On the industrial estate where I worked there was a burger van. Their cooked breakfast in a tray was legendary. Quality ingredients, generous portions, great value. People came from miles around to eat this great food. Then they changed the bacon, it was a bit stringier. The sausages became thinner, less tasty. The black pudding turned into something nasty. Then the portions shrunk in size at the same time as the prices went up. Walking home one evening I passed the van only to see the owner turn up in a brand new Porsche Caymen. People stopped going to the van. They started using the cafe a half mile up the road. I persevered with it, hoping that they would try to win the custom back, but it was too late. The trust was broken and the people had moved on. The van deteriorated even further until one day, it was gone.

To me it’s only a fail if you have to the dark world or ragnarok versions. I have this Age of Ultron version and honestly I’m happy with it. You say it’s not special and it’s an exact duplicate from the light asgardian armor version. Well I see your point there so I can’t argue that. Something you may not know about me is that I’m an Avengers only collector. So that’s why I waited and got this one. But I agree with you Danoby2. It’s not the best but I personally like this figure because it’s Age of Ultron. Anyway hope we can talk about this man. I like your videos.
I agree with your points. Thor doesn't have the same appeal as the Iron Man line. I understand Iron Man collectors, each suit is numbered. Hot Toys needed to have another head sculpt like the new Captain America AOU. For crying out loud put a wire in his cape. Plus they need to fix his outfit, he looks silly when he is posed. No waist articulation really hurts the Thor line. I appreciate Hot Toys on fixing the articulation issues with captain America, but their not even trying with Thor. Additionally I will never buy a Hot toys figure with rubber arms, plus the elbow bend looks weird. I'll pass on this one for sure. Great video! Good editing!
I agree with your comment on the glowing gimmick of the hammer. before I knew about Thors hammer, I noticed that the upcoming hot toys ant man is going to have light up eyes which makes no sense , his eyes of his helmet never glowed in the movie , it's simply a gimmick to give the figure another selling point
I agree with most but not number one, as I'm building the avengers but I only bought iron man and Hawkeye from avengers and cap and hulk from AoU. And figures like vision, groot, rocket and hulk are always going to look the same so buy the ones you like and no more
I agree it does not feel that special anymore collecting, point taken for example - I am waiting for the avengers infinity wars to start collecting the avengers team, which I may even wait for part 2 IW before collecting them, so yea there is so many MCU films coming out in the coming years, there is not really any rush to get them. Its sad when only Ultron and quicksilver I will get from the AOU lineup, because these 2 will not appear in future films. Can you imagine with the lineup for civil war is going to be like, another AOU goldmine for HT's
I agree, I feel like this figure is coming out way too soon. I personally think because of the Dark world Thor they could of skipped this figure for a while.
Picked up this figure and sold the DW Thor away and haven't looked back since. I prefer this figure over the open mouthed/dumb founded look of the DW Thor as well as the Goldmember polished armor.
As a new hot toy collector (just got the Falcon) and captain America stealth, I realise not all hot toys are created equal. This review has now helped confirm I will be ok with getting a fixed pose Crazy Toys Dark World which should be around the US$ 35 mark. Tks 4 the candid view, especially the aspect about the arm .. Crazy for a $200+ figure
Danoby2 you have some good points here. But for me this figure is a win because I don’t have the previous Thor figures. So if I pick this one. I just won’t get the other ones then. My Age of Ultron collection will be complete with the big four. I have Captain America, Hulk and Iron Man mark 45. I will be getting the Age of Ultron Thor to complete the collection. I’m not going to pass on this one but I do see your points on this being a fail. Especially if you have the Thor from Dark World light Asgardian armor version. Good video...some valid points...some not as valid...The light up hammer is so that you can recreate scenes where Thor is calling down lightening...throw some lightening effects on the hammer and BOOM....bad assery. I do agree about it being a little overkill with so many Thors so close together...I disagree with HAVING NO CHOICE but to buy Thor...I'll be fine just picking up his display base on the secondary and putting my Dark World Thor on it :)
One important factor you don't mention that would put people's concerns for this figure to rest is if HT had added another Thor figure and made this a package set like the S.T.R.I.K.E suit Cap/Steve Rogers set which I have. If Hot Toys was truly thinking, they would have added a figure of Thor that we seen in civilian clothes when they we're in 'Avengers' tower, just add $80 more dollars and make it a set and that would have owned. Add the table Thor had his hammer sitting on with a 1/6 scale glass of wine he was drinking, if I can come up with an idea like that why in the hell can't Hot Toys do the same.
+delfra70 Because Captain America is in it's own movie, and Winter Soldier was much more popular than Thor:DW, it's too much work for Hot Toys to create that many figures for just one movie, they have several other figures to worry about. There's gotta be at least 10 figures in The Avengers 2 line including big figures like Hulk, Hulkbuster, and Ultron, other movies usually get 1-4, the only other movie I can think of that has near that many figures is Star Wars, TDKR, and IM3. Iron Man 2 & 3 produced standalone Tony Stark figures but you won't see an Avengers 2 Civilian Tony Stark figure and he's arguably the most popular members in the Avengers.

If HT had made a Thor exclusive in civilian clothes with that red velvet coat and outfit and glass of wine and table with the hammer, that would have been an instant seller without a doubt. HT picks characters based off of popularity, example; Star Wars/Iron Man. I agree with you when you say that it would be a nice touch but from Hot Toys' standpoint it wouldn't make any sense, they already (2) Iron Man, Hulk/Bruce, Cap America, Thor, Scarlet, Quicksilver, Ultron Prime, Ultron Mark 1, Iron Legion, Hawkeye, Black Widow, Vision, Hulkbuster, War Machine and on top of all that a 1/4 scale Iron Man. It seems they would rather pump out another Iron Man suit or Stormtrooper. If that happened Hot Toys would have to make a party scene version of every character since they already made an Ultron Mark 1. Hell they haven't sold all their AoU Thor yet and it's been in stock for awhile now.

A Thor figure in his civilian clothes from the 'Age Of Ultron' movie bro, just for that one time would make it very rare and very cool, do you understand where i'm coming from. We always see Steve Rogers, Tony Stark and the other Avengers in civilian clothes all the time, that's nothing rare at all. But seeing Thor in civilian clothes is very rare, do you get what I mean. many recent figures are simply do overs and repaints, I have yet to complete the avengers team becuase I have not been thrilled by certain releases and I keep waiting. Now im in the process of either upgrading/replacing most avengers i do own with new items but the prices keep going up. once I am happy with a version of each member im done (or so i keep telling myself)
I gave HT up until they get their shit together. You can too. Once a large percentage of collectors do this, HT will have no choice but to put the prices back in the "fair" perspective. Also I feel you missed something in the vid, the HS doesn't look much like Hemsworth while the last one (TDW) was pretty bang on.

+xenom0rph With all the flaws it's still a good figure. The head sculpt is probably the best and most realistic from all the Thor versions released up to date. The outfit might be almost identical like he noted but as he also noted it's just the way the character is always portrayed. As for the perishable foam material on the arms, this stuff can be preserved but requires care. Even in case of damage it is possible to replace the arms or get a new body and the manner in which they made his anatomy on the arms is very nice - looks very realistic. I also disagree with the issue he had about the glowing hammer. I see no problem with it, on the contrary I find it cool. In the over all, just in terms of appearance I think it is the nicest looking Thor from the bunch. I had a choice between few of the previous versions and this upcoming one and I chose to get this one because I felt that it is the best representation of the character up to date. As for the monetary value I can't argue with that, I do feel as well that some of the prices placed on those models are inflated. I know life gets more expensive in general yet still, those things should be kept in check. This is one of the main reason why one might probably want to check out all of those other Asian companies that manufacture similar toys - there appeared to be plenty of them recently and some of the models they put out are quite impressive like DAM TOYS military figures and CRAFTONE toys, ZC TOYS, KUMIK, ART FIGURES and many others. They make very similar toys and the prices are half of those you see on SIDESHOW COLLECTIBLES.

Mashael Al-Mehmadi I don't want to disappoint you but in my opinion the best thing for you to do is to actually go online and search the various versions of those figures, read some reviews by people who own them and decide which one seems to be like the best choice for you based on your own intuition and evaluation. I might suggest things based on my personal views but it does not mean I am 100% right because you might actually like something else better - those things are often very individual. As far as buying the latest Thor or waiting for the upcoming Thor release goes; in my view, if you are impatient about getting the figure just get the one that's out right now - you can also brows the web for the other Thor versions and if some of them are available at the moment for a reasonable price you might be inclined to get one of those. Personally I have the older Thor version from the Movie "Thor 2 Dark World". There were two versions of it released, one with light armour (that has exposed arms like the latest Thor that came out), and one with heavier Asgardian armour (where his hands are covered in scale armour). I own the second version which has the armour covered arms. And I absolutely love it - got no intention of getting another Thor. Now going back to you again; if you are not to impatient and believe it is worth to wait a little for another Thor figure in order to compare and choose then it might be smart to give it the required time and then buy the one you seem to like better. The good things about this approach is that usually the better toy companies improve their figures with each version in terms of the likeness of the head sculpts to the actual characters and other little things. Phicen is improving its stuff with every release and Hot Toys seemed to be doing alright in that department most of the time, along with some other companies. As for Star Wars stuff, I am personally not a big fan of the franchise and don't own any of the Star Wars figures or content. I know that there was a lot of commercial fuss around the Han Solo (hope I spelled his name correctly) Hot toys figure which based on the videos looked very realistic and well made. But again, I would not suggest anything in that department because as I mentioned earlier - I am not very much into it and therefore not as well informed. One thing I do usually before getting a figure of any sort is go on youtube and check the unboxing review vids of the figure in question. Usually you can get a pretty decent idea about the things you want to know regarding the particular figure from such a review just by seeing the figure and the manner in which it is handled on video. I don't always agree with the reviews people give but in some cases even when the review wasn't mazing I liked what I saw in the video, ordered the figure and was not disappointed. These are the things I would suggest. And you can't go wrong when you do your own research and make up your own mind.

Meeshosaur You are welcome. The video reviews are the best because you get to actually see the real figure you're going to get and not the perfect prototype which is displayed on the advert' photos on sideshow or any company's official websites. You see the real figure and you hear the detailed evaluation of a costumer/collector who is just like you. I can tell you that seeing it is the best thing because even if the person's review is not very flattering you can still make up your own mind by simply looking at what you see on the screen. I watched two reviews for figures I wanted to get before buying them - The Eric Draven (Crow) figure, and Snake (Escape from New York) which was released not from Hot Toys but by Sideshow themselves. The Crow had mixed reviews, some were negative and some were better while the Sideshow Snake figure had bad reviews by collectors and only one more or less positive review from one channel that does reviews for different figures. I decided to purchase both of those because what I saw on screen looked pretty awesome and let me tell you something; Today the Sideshow Snake figure is one of my favourite models in my collection (not because it is perfect but because on display it simply looks awesome and the head sculpt and body in my view are outstanding despite the negative backlash the head sculpt received in the collectors community. As for the Crow he actually looks just like the movie character and is the best existing version of this character's figure to date (no customiser has produced anything better to show off with yet as far as I know). So it is always best to see for yourself and make up your own mind. As for the Thor, I don't like the expiring foam arms idea either. But it does look awesome and the head is amazing looking. Though let me tell you that the previous versions have great head sculpts as well (a part from the very first Thor which had a lesser quality head). The one I have - from the second - Dark World - film has an amazing head sculpt. It looks exactly like the actor in the first and second film, the realism is mind blowing (my causing couldn't close her mouth from amazement when she first say it. The hair details on that figure are amazing too - among the best sculpted hairs I've seen on a figure. Therefore this latest Thor is not your only option if you are after a good head sculpt, some of the previous ones got very nice heads as well and their arms might be better in the long run because they are not as perishable. As far as getting figures of characters you don't necessarily like goes; personally I don't do that - especially if you are on a budget this sounds silly. But if I got any of the Star Wars figures I'd certainly get me a Han Solo and Luke Sky Walker with Chubaka because those are the central and the classical characters of the franchise. Also I don't think that getting every cool figure out there is a good thing. Those figures take space and you can't collect everything because there are simply to many of them. Which is why the smartest and the most economical thing to do is get some of your favourite characters from your favourite shows or comic books and settle for that. And maybe customise a few of your own versions of those characters just for fun. Then you can move on and in some cases maybe update your collection by buying a newer and better version of what you already have while selling the older more outdated figures. This is my opinion anyway. There will come a time when you realize that those toys are not important anyway and will be inclined to sell most of them. Believe me I've seen it happen to hardcore collectors already and am on that stage myself. You sell most and leave only a few of the very favourite ones or not even that. As far as retailers that allow partial payments go; the only ones I know to be doing that are Sideshow and if you leave in the US ebay lets you brake your purchases to multiple monthly payments of 30$ a month et cetera. PayPal allows it only for US costumers at the moment. Other than that I am not familiar with any other website or retailer who has such accommodations - sorry.

Total fail? I'm not sure.... For myself who has picked up BOTH versions of Dark World Thors, THIS release is competely unnecessary or very unlikely to be picked up also. What i plan to do is snatch up the new head sculpt and the new Light-Up Hammer (Which i for one think is SUPER COOL) and slap em on one of the D.W. Thors. We both know THIS and pretty much every Marvel Based figure HT puts out for the MOST part.... ESPECIALLY Avengers' Merch. will sell, AND will sell at their inflated prices. I agree this MAY be a "slow burner" due to the close release dates of its IDENTICAL predecessors but they too have soldout.... and it IS a great lookin figure. Is it over priced? Probably.. Are we Excited? NOPE! But FAILED?............... No Way!
My biggest problem with the App is that it's an advertised feature on the catalogue page -- like it's an accessory, or is somehow added into the total value of my purchase (which I suppose it is -- someone had to get paid to develop it). +5 points "chest penis thing", achievement unlocked.

I'm in complete agreement with you. This is why I'm selling most of my Hot Toys figures. I'm only buying what I like and not what's thrown out there to complete a team or because it was in the movie. But, people with money, spend how they chose.
All I can say is I will get this Thor . The reason I skipped all the other one's out there. Really I don't want to pay just over three bills for the TDW Sideshow Exclusive version . So for me it works out .
Cant agree with everything you say... I will always opt to get the later release... besides, I didnt get the DarkWorld version... so now, I get the oppurtunity to get the later version... the app is an extra but not necessary,... other figures also didnt have apps so no need to nitpick on it. As a collectible, I like it,.. and that’s all that matter.

Don't agree with your #1 I don't see why anyone can't just use the Thor from dark world because that's what I'm going so I don't see a reason why you would HAVE to get this one if you already have the dark world version.

I had decided from day 1 that I was only going to collect figures that I will keep with me or get handed down. Some I have missed out on such as IM Mk 7 or The Cap Avengers. I really really want the IM MK 45 but what happens when Civil War comes out. A new IM armour again and another's $350 flies out of my wallet. I can't keep up.
Danoby2 No Way, both are now soldout. Peacemaker albeit took several months, but Python soldout in 5-6 HOURS if I'm not mistaken. Silver Centurion JUST Waitlisted and whatever armors that are available will go the way of the Marks that preceded them.

I already stop collecting action figures. Just want to share my experience. Yeah HOT TOYS used to be always have flaws. Battery location too hard to open, articulation not as much as they claimed. And one more thing , when you get the item from pre order , always very different from the screen shot. Oh yes....Hot Toys product very very very FRAGILE....... These in just my opinion,.... I like your review. I was thinking almost the same. The price not good. no accesories Personally I like the light up hammer. I ordered this fig because I don't have a sleeveless Thor. I only have the Avengers Thor. It should have come with changable arms with sleeves or changable battledamage armour . A special hand for Thor that hold the hammer straight if we want to pose Thor holding straight up up mjolnir not side way. That would be cool and a flight stand would nice as Man of Steel. And extra stand maybe with Ultron sentry something like that. will I collect all the avengers from AUO? the answer is no. I have already Cap, Mark 43. Thor and Mark 45 I will get them. but thats it. Saving my money for Batman V Superman from Hottoys :P

There are major differences between the two figures (such as silver/gold accents and head sculpt) so I feel it is better than some of the recent ironman releases which may as well be the same figure only palette swapped. HT was not going to "pass" on producing this Thor because they must represent the whole Avengers team from the 2nd movie as also this was an easy figure for them to produce.
As many others already said, if you're not happy about Hot Toys then stop buying their products, simple as that. Plus, why would you buy figures related to a disapointing movie, which is the case with aou ? I'm 34 and personaly I buy figures only when I feel connected to the related movie : Terminator, Robocop, Back to the Future, Heat, Enter the Dragon, 300, etc ... All these guys are linked to an emotion or a memory, something that touched or marked me, mainly as a kid. To me, the point of collecting is to create a bound with cheerfull souvenirs.
Can't say I agree with everything you said, but still a great video and valid points. Like the light-up looked awesome to me. Those rubber arms look terrifyingly fragile though.

A lot of these issues stem from the movie industry more than Hot Toys. The quality looks really good. Marvel makes movies to meet market demand and Hot Toys is following suit. Nothing more to it.
I'm not a big marvel fan, partly because of the overproduction of films but that doesn't make it Hot Toys' issue. Nice avengers figures btw.

I have stopped collecting Hot Toys figures since last year. The Iron Man Mark 42 is the last figure I purchased. Currently I own about 45 Hot Toys figures. The new figures are not worth the price they are asking for. These are still dressed up 12 inch dolls, come on people. Prices from 3 to 4 years were reasonable, but not what they are asking for these toys today. I am taking a stand and I am not buying anymore Hot Toys untill they lower their prices. As long as we are buying, Hot Toys will never lower their prices. They are starting to ask 1/4 scale prices. This ends now!!!

On the industrial estate where I worked there was a burger van. Their cooked breakfast in a tray was legendary. Quality ingredients, generous portions, great value. People came from miles around to eat this great food. Then they changed the bacon, it was a bit stringier. The sausages became thinner, less tasty. The black pudding turned into something nasty. Then the portions shrunk in size at the same time as the prices went up. Walking home one evening I passed the van only to see the owner turn up in a brand new Porsche Caymen. People stopped going to the van. They started using the cafe a half mile up the road. I persevered with it, hoping that they would try to win the custom back, but it was too late. The trust was broken and the people had moved on. The van deteriorated even further until one day, it was gone.

To me it’s only a fail if you have to the dark world or ragnarok versions. I have this Age of Ultron version and honestly I’m happy with it. You say it’s not special and it’s an exact duplicate from the light asgardian armor version. Well I see your point there so I can’t argue that. Something you may not know about me is that I’m an Avengers only collector. So that’s why I waited and got this one. But I agree with you Danoby2. It’s not the best but I personally like this figure because it’s Age of Ultron. Anyway hope we can talk about this man. I like your videos.

I agree with your points. Thor doesn't have the same appeal as the Iron Man line. I understand Iron Man collectors, each suit is numbered. Hot Toys needed to have another head sculpt like the new Captain America AOU. For crying out loud put a wire in his cape. Plus they need to fix his outfit, he looks silly when he is posed. No waist articulation really hurts the Thor line. I appreciate Hot Toys on fixing the articulation issues with captain America, but their not even trying with Thor. Additionally I will never buy a Hot toys figure with rubber arms, plus the elbow bend looks weird. I'll pass on this one for sure. Great video! Good editing!
I agree with your comment on the glowing gimmick of the hammer. before I knew about Thors hammer, I noticed that the upcoming hot toys ant man is going to have light up eyes which makes no sense , his eyes of his helmet never glowed in the movie , it's simply a gimmick to give the figure another selling point

I agree it does not feel that special anymore collecting, point taken for example - I am waiting for the avengers infinity wars to start collecting the avengers team, which I may even wait for part 2 IW before collecting them, so yea there is so many MCU films coming out in the coming years, there is not really any rush to get them. Its sad when only Ultron and quicksilver I will get from the AOU lineup, because these 2 will not appear in future films. Can you imagine with the lineup for civil war is going to be like, another AOU goldmine for HT's

I agree, I feel like this figure is coming out way too soon. I personally think because of the Dark world Thor they could of skipped this figure for a while.
Picked up this figure and sold the DW Thor away and haven't looked back since. I prefer this figure over the open mouthed/dumb founded look of the DW Thor as well as the Goldmember polished armor.
As a new hot toy collector (just got the Falcon) and captain America stealth, I realise not all hot toys are created equal. This review has now helped confirm I will be ok with getting a fixed pose Crazy Toys Dark World which should be around the US$ 35 mark. Tks 4 the candid view, especially the aspect about the arm .. Crazy for a $200+ figure
Danoby2 you have some good points here. But for me this figure is a win because I don’t have the previous Thor figures. So if I pick this one. I just won’t get the other ones then. My Age of Ultron collection will be complete with the big four. I have Captain America, Hulk and Iron Man mark 45. I will be getting the Age of Ultron Thor to complete the collection. I’m not going to pass on this one but I do see your points on this being a fail. Especially if you have the Thor from Dark World light Asgardian armor version. Good video...some valid points...some not as valid...The light up hammer is so that you can recreate scenes where Thor is calling down lightening...throw some lightening effects on the hammer and BOOM....bad assery. I do agree about it being a little overkill with so many Thors so close together...I disagree with HAVING NO CHOICE but to buy Thor...I'll be fine just picking up his display base on the secondary and putting my Dark World Thor on it :)
One important factor you don't mention that would put people's concerns for this figure to rest is if HT had added another Thor figure and made this a package set like the S.T.R.I.K.E suit Cap/Steve Rogers set which I have. If Hot Toys was truly thinking, they would have added a figure of Thor that we seen in civilian clothes when they we're in 'Avengers' tower, just add $80 more dollars and make it a set and that would have owned. Add the table Thor had his hammer sitting on with a 1/6 scale glass of wine he was drinking, if I can come up with an idea like that why in the hell can't Hot Toys do the same.
+delfra70 Because Captain America is in it's own movie, and Winter Soldier was much more popular than Thor:DW, it's too much work for Hot Toys to create that many figures for just one movie, they have several other figures to worry about. There's gotta be at least 10 figures in The Avengers 2 line including big figures like Hulk, Hulkbuster, and Ultron, other movies usually get 1-4, the only other movie I can think of that has near that many figures is Star Wars, TDKR, and IM3. Iron Man 2 & 3 produced standalone Tony Stark figures but you won't see an Avengers 2 Civilian Tony Stark figure and he's arguably the most popular members in the Avengers.

HT picks characters based off of popularity, example; Star Wars/Iron Man. I agree with you when you say that it would be a nice touch but from Hot Toys' standpoint it wouldn't make any sense, they already (2) Iron Man, Hulk/Bruce, Cap America, Thor, Scarlet, Quicksilver, Ultron Prime, Ultron Mark 1, Iron Legion, Hawkeye, Black Widow, Vision, Hulkbuster, War Machine and on top of all that a 1/4 scale Iron Man. It seems they would rather pump out another Iron Man suit or Stormtrooper. If that happened Hot Toys would have to make a party scene version of every character since they already made an Ultron Mark 1. Hell they haven't sold all their AoU Thor yet and it's been in stock for awhile now.

many recent figures are simply do overs and repaints, I have yet to complete the avengers team becuase I have not been thrilled by certain releases and I keep waiting. Now im in the process of either upgrading/replacing most avengers i do own with new items but the prices keep going up. once I am happy with a version of each member im done (or so i keep telling myself)

The hammer glows because of the lightning that comes with it. We see the hammer generate lightning, so it makes sense to me that the hammer glows.

+xenom0rph With all the flaws it's still a good figure. The head sculpt is probably the best and most realistic from all the Thor versions released up to date. The outfit might be almost identical like he noted but as he also noted it's just the way the character is always portrayed. As for the perishable foam material on the arms, this stuff can be preserved but requires care. Even in case of damage it is possible to replace the arms or get a new body and the manner in which they made his anatomy on the arms is very nice - looks very realistic. I also disagree with the issue he had about the glowing hammer. I see no problem with it, on the contrary I find it cool. In the over all, just in terms of appearance I think it is the nicest looking Thor from the bunch. I had a choice between few of the previous versions and this upcoming one and I chose to get this one because I felt that it is the best representation of the character up to date. As for the monetary value I can't argue with that, I do feel as well that some of the prices placed on those models are inflated. I know life gets more expensive in general yet still, those things should be kept in check. This is one of the main reason why one might probably want to check out all of those other Asian companies that manufacture similar toys - there appeared to be plenty of them recently and some of the models they put out are quite impressive like DAM TOYS military figures and CRAFTONE toys, ZC TOYS, KUMIK, ART FIGURES and many others. They make very similar toys and the prices are half of those you see on SIDESHOW COLLECTIBLES.

I don't want to disappoint you but in my opinion the best thing for you to do is to actually go online and search the various versions of those figures, read some reviews by people who own them and decide which one seems to be like the best choice for you based on your own intuition and evaluation. I might suggest things based on my personal views but it does not mean I am 100% right because you might actually like something else better - those things are often very individual. As far as buying the latest Thor or waiting for the upcoming Thor release goes; in my view, if you are impatient about getting the figure just get the one that's out right now - you can also brows the web for the other Thor versions and if some of them are available at the moment for a reasonable price you might be inclined to get one of those. Personally I have the older Thor version from the Movie "Thor 2 Dark World". There were two versions of it released, one with light armour (that has exposed arms like the latest Thor that came out), and one with heavier Asgardian armour (where his hands are covered in scale armour). I own the second version which has the armour covered arms. And I absolutely love it - got no intention of getting another Thor. Now going back to you again; if you are not to impatient and believe it is worth to wait a little for another Thor figure in order to compare and choose then it might be smart to give it the required time and then buy the one you seem to like better. The good things about this approach is that usually the better toy companies improve their figures with each version in terms of the likeness of the head sculpts to the actual characters and other little things. Phicen is improving its stuff with every release and Hot Toys seemed to be doing alright in that department most of the time, along with some other companies. As for Star Wars stuff, I am personally not a big fan of the franchise and don't own any of the Star Wars figures or content. I know that there was a lot of commercial fuss around the Han Solo (hope I spelled his name correctly) Hot toys figure which based on the videos looked very realistic and well made. But again, I would not suggest anything in that department because as I mentioned earlier - I am not very much into it and therefore not as well informed. One thing I do usually before getting a figure of any sort is go on youtube and check the unboxing review vids of the figure in question. Usually you can get a pretty decent idea about the things you want to know regarding the particular figure from such a review just by seeing the figure and the manner in which it is handled on video. I don't always agree with the reviews people give but in some cases even when the review wasn't mazing I liked what I saw in the video, ordered the figure and was not disappointed. These are the things I would suggest. And you can't go wrong when you do your own research and make up your own mind.

You are welcome. The video reviews are the best because you get to actually see the real figure you're going to get and not the perfect prototype which is displayed on the advert' photos on sideshow or any company's official websites. You see the real figure and you hear the detailed evaluation of a costumer/collector who is just like you. I can tell you that seeing it is the best thing because even if the person's review is not very flattering you can still make up your own mind by simply looking at what you see on the screen. I watched two reviews for figures I wanted to get before buying them - The Eric Draven (Crow) figure, and Snake (Escape from New York) which was released not from Hot Toys but by Sideshow themselves. The Crow had mixed reviews, some were negative and some were better while the Sideshow Snake figure had bad reviews by collectors and only one more or less positive review from one channel that does reviews for different figures. I decided to purchase both of those because what I saw on screen looked pretty awesome and let me tell you something; Today the Sideshow Snake figure is one of my favourite models in my collection (not because it is perfect but because on display it simply looks awesome and the head sculpt and body in my view are outstanding despite the negative backlash the head sculpt received in the collectors community. As for the Crow he actually looks just like the movie character and is the best existing version of this character's figure to date (no customiser has produced anything better to show off with yet as far as I know). So it is always best to see for yourself and make up your own mind. As for the Thor, I don't like the expiring foam arms idea either. But it does look awesome and the head is amazing looking. Though let me tell you that the previous versions have great head sculpts as well (a part from the very first Thor which had a lesser quality head). The one I have - from the second - Dark World - film has an amazing head sculpt. It looks exactly like the actor in the first and second film, the realism is mind blowing (my causing couldn't close her mouth from amazement when she first say it. The hair details on that figure are amazing too - among the best sculpted hairs I've seen on a figure. Therefore this latest Thor is not your only option if you are after a good head sculpt, some of the previous ones got very nice heads as well and their arms might be better in the long run because they are not as perishable. As far as getting figures of characters you don't necessarily like goes; personally I don't do that - especially if you are on a budget this sounds silly. But if I got any of the Star Wars figures I'd certainly get me a Han Solo and Luke Sky Walker with Chubaka because those are the central and the classical characters of the franchise. Also I don't think that getting every cool figure out there is a good thing. Those figures take space and you can't collect everything because there are simply to many of them. Which is why the smartest and the most economical thing to do is get some of your favourite characters from your favourite shows or comic books and settle for that. And maybe customise a few of your own versions of those characters just for fun. Then you can move on and in some cases maybe update your collection by buying a newer and better version of what you already have while selling the older more outdated figures. This is my opinion anyway. There will come a time when you realize that those toys are not important anyway and will be inclined to sell most of them. Believe me I've seen it happen to hardcore collectors already and am on that stage myself. You sell most and leave only a few of the very favourite ones or not even that. As far as retailers that allow partial payments go; the only ones I know to be doing that are Sideshow and if you leave in the US ebay lets you brake your purchases to multiple monthly payments of 30$ a month et cetera. PayPal allows it only for US costumers at the moment. Other than that I am not familiar with any other website or retailer who has such accommodations - sorry.

Total fail? I'm not sure.... For myself who has picked up BOTH versions of Dark World Thors, THIS release is competely unnecessary or very unlikely to be picked up also. What i plan to do is snatch up the new head sculpt and the new Light-Up Hammer (Which i for one think is SUPER COOL) and slap em on one of the D.W. Thors.
We both know THIS and pretty much every Marvel Based figure HT puts out for the MOST part.... ESPECIALLY Avengers' Merch. will sell, AND will sell at their inflated prices. I agree this MAY be a "slow burner" due to the close release dates of its IDENTICAL predecessors but they too have soldout.... and it IS a great lookin figure.

I'm in complete agreement with you. This is why I'm selling most of my Hot Toys figures. I'm only buying what I like and not what's thrown out there to complete a team or because it was in the movie. But, people with money, spend how they chose.

All I can say is I will get this Thor . The reason I skipped all the other one's out there. Really I don't want to pay just over three bills for the TDW Sideshow Exclusive version . So for me it works out .
Cant agree with everything you say... I will always opt to get the later release... besides, I didnt get the DarkWorld version... so now, I get the oppurtunity to get the later version... the app is an extra but not necessary,... other figures also didnt have apps so no need to nitpick on it. As a collectible, I like it,.. and that’s all that matter.

Danoby2 it's a lot of money to invest and if you're not 100% happy you should never just give your money. I'm thinking about getting my first and with Thor being my favourite Avenger I was looking for reviews lol. Maybe I'll just wait for the Deadpool toy
I had decided from day 1 that I was only going to collect figures that I will keep with me or get handed down. Some I have missed out on such as IM Mk 7 or The Cap Avengers. I really really want the IM MK 45 but what happens when Civil War comes out. A new IM armour again and another's $350 flies out of my wallet. I can't keep up.
quick questions r the Batteries stored in the light up hammer or r they in a clamshell like the die cast figures

Danoby2 No Way, both are now soldout. Peacemaker albeit took several months, but Python soldout in 5-6 HOURS if I'm not mistaken. Silver Centurion JUST Waitlisted and whatever armors that are available will go the way of the Marks that preceded them.
I got the recent Jango Fett figure very disappointed in that figure. Danoby2 did you get the jango fett figure?

Yeah HOT TOYS used to be always have flaws.
Battery location too hard to open, articulation not as much as they claimed.
And one more thing , when you get the item from pre order , always very different from the screen shot.
Oh yes....Hot Toys product very very very FRAGILE.......

+3dstuffin I have ED 209. I do not have any problem with the rubber thing on the top... Don't put it in the sun spot, it will crack.

I like your review. I was thinking almost the same. The price not good. no accesories Personally I like the light up hammer. I ordered this fig because I don't have a sleeveless Thor. I only have the Avengers Thor. It should have come with changable arms with sleeves or changable battledamage armour . A special hand for Thor that hold the hammer straight if we want to pose Thor holding straight up up mjolnir not side way. That would be cool and a flight stand would nice as Man of Steel. And extra stand maybe with Ultron sentry something like that. will I collect all the avengers from AUO? the answer is no. I have already Cap, Mark 43. Thor and Mark 45 I will get them. but thats it. Saving my money for Batman V Superman from Hottoys :P
