this to me is so so much better than the original which I already loved. The poppy tune of the song in contrast with the grim lyrics creates a powerful juxtaposition of appearing happy on the outside while silently in pain and the voice gives so much emotion.

I used a rack-mount Digitech Vocalist MV-5! It's an early 2000s (maybe 90s?) pitch correction piece of hardware. The original version of the song by Stegosaurus Rex definitely used something very similar!
