I did this drive a few months ago. The coastal highway is beautiful. Passing Camp Pendleton there were helicopters flying around over the highway. It felt like I could reach through the sun roof and grab the landing gear
A more scenic route if you have the time is the Pacific Coast Highway (Highway 1) from perhaps starting at Long Beach to the end, Dana Point. From that point on, you’ll need to continue on I-5 near the coast to reach San Diego.
Thank goodness for the rest areas! It always amazes me that we can drive so far in such a short period of time and it would have taken the covered wagons probably two weeks to do what you did today! Thanks again AK.
Love these drives. As a transport for my job i take this drive here and there and always love it. Even though i have to go and come back pretty much right away its still nice 🥲

San Diego and LA are around the same temperature in winter usually about 16-19 in the day, though between LA and San Francisco, it is about 5-7 °C colder in SF. I hope this answers your question.

Hope you're having a pleasant Sunday evening AK. Just finished watching this amazing drive from LA to San Diego I always like your driving videos see and learn so much. I never realized how mountainous California was Even all the way into San Diego The houses on top look really cool not too cool if a mudslide happens though. I think of all the places I've seen you drive the worst traffic has to be New York City that video you had going from Brooklyn back to Queens dead stop did not go anywhere cars everywhere worst traffic jam I think I've seen even here in Orlando or Miami not to mention LA and San Diego I think New York tops them all. I watched your video last night from Fort Lauderdale You were not having a good night I felt bad for you I know you're probably burnt out after this cross country trip That's a lot you've done and still have to do I have a suspicion every time I see you do a bunch of live streams in a row especially when you're outside of Miami like you did at Disney every time you just do a bunch of videos then the next thing you know you're back in New York City I have a feeling you're getting ready to catch a plane might be good for you I would not say this because I love having you here but I can tell you're tired from this endeavor you took on. For your health you probably need a break your true fans will be here for you when you return. The other two things about the LA to San Diego drive that's stuck out for me right when you hit San Diego county I hit it right on the head I said that's a nuclear power plant and it was but it has been shut down since 2013 in the process of decommission and then when you got into city limits of San Diego the elevated train system it was electric ran right alongside the interstate looks like they've had a pretty good transportation system there also I saw the SeaWorld sign I forgot that was the original SeaWorld I guess it's still there lol I could talk your head off but I said what I wanted to say take care of yourself Ken get some rest man.

When you were up here in Orlando last year looking at the bright line station You were out by Lake Nona they have one there have about five of them in the Orlando metro area
1:24:10 now that's some dangerous driving by the white pickup. Would help if everyone would follow the rules of the road : slower cars and the right, faster cars on the left. Quite simple and would avoid potential accidents.
This was an awesome drive (at 2x speed on replay!) ...except, the idiots that think last second lane changes are a good idea can be a bit unnerving! LOL
