    Love the videos! I’m pretty new to free diving and only been doing it for about 6 months. I’ve just been using cheap generic fins this whole time and wanted to upgrade. Thank you for this review, I think I am going to try these out. Can’t wait! 🤙🏽

      Thanks for watching! I borrowed a pair of these fins from my buddy the other day and they rock.

    Hi, what are your views on the Cressi Gara Turbo impulse ? Would you say they were much and much the same as the standard Modular impulse? Also looking at the Seac Booster fins. Better, worse? Softer fins for colder waters. Thank you.

    Thanks for the review! Would you recommend these for a decently experience freediver 185-190 lbs? ...I was going to pickup a pair of 2000 HF, since I'm getting back into freediving, but looks like there's been quite a few advancements in fins since I was diving last.

    • @DivingSports
      @DivingSports  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      These are pretty different than the 2000 HF fins. The HFs are more of a medium-hard stiffness blade, whereas the impulse fins are soft. I think it depends on your preference for stiffness! There are freedivers who prefer softer blades and some stiffer blades, really depends on you and your style. Depending on your experience level, it could be worth going to a pair of carbons unless you're wanting plastics for their durability. Based on your weight though, I think most people would recommend something a bit stiffer than the Impulses, maybe a more medium-stiff fin. The HFs are too stiff for freediving in my opinion though.

    Hi thanks for the video. Do they have "memory" like any other plastic fins?

    Is it heavy and what his weight ?
    Is it good for people who have problem in the kneezz ?

    • @DivingSports
      @DivingSports  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Standard weight for plastic fins, but actual weight will depend on your foot pocket size. If you have knee problems I'd go with a soft pair like these or go with a short pair. Talk to your freediving instructor though.

    Cressi messed up big time the garas with the new foot pocket. I have used gara 3000 lds for many years, a 42-43 that I can use with or without socks, tried one of this new model on every size at the store and none of them fit well. It is a pitty because the fins are lighter and softer than the garas 3000 for really long runs, but sadly cressi fcked up the foot pocket.

    • @DivingSports
      @DivingSports  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's unfortunate. Depends on the person's foot for sure, to my knowledge Cressi has made these foot pockets a bit bigger to accommodate for neoprene socks. You could always source the impulse blades and put them into some other foot pockets if you're able to find ones that fit you well. Salvimar turn 151 blades are very soft, softer than the impulse blades, however I don't like how salvimar makes their foot pockets. They're designed so you can only use salvimar blades with their foot pockets, unless you're willing to cut a slot into your blades. You may be able to put salvimar blades into a different foot pocket but I haven't tried that.

      Cressi wants you to buy neoprene socks too.

    How does the impulse fin compared to Cressi Gara Modular green LD fin?

    • @DivingSports
      @DivingSports  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Those fins don't have water rails going down the length of the blades, whereas the Impulse fins do. The water rails help to prevent the blades from hitting each other while kicking, and help to guide the water straight down the blade. I believe they're both soft stiffness blades.

    Excuse me, any other blades can fit these foot pocket by cressi? Im thinking getting these for my start at free diving, thanks.

    • @DivingSports
      @DivingSports  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      General answer is yes, but better to contact the maker of the blade you're looking to buy and confirm with them, or contact the shop you're wanting to purchase from. Some carbon blades like c4 will come with a single hole drilled into the blade, and cressi takes double hole blades, so you would have to figure out an adapter or glue those blades in. If you want to glue the blades then it won't matter. But if you want to screw the blades in better to find a blade without any holes and drill them yourself, or make sure they two holes for the cressi footpocket.

    Quick question! I have just got a new pair of these fins and noticed the white water rails starting to peel (most likely from friction of hitting and rubbing on the ground) is there any way you suggest repairing them (if required) or should I just snip the peeling parts off to prevent it from tugging on the rest of the rail? Also can I swap this foot pocket onto any other blade or just the cressi line? Thanks!

    • @DivingSports
      @DivingSports  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I would contact the shop you bought them from and see if they can repair them for you, if not, and you feel comfortable doing it, I would try to glue the rail back if you can. Otherwise, I would cut off the peeling parts to prevent further damage. Other cressi blades will work fine, but when it comes to other brands blades, depends on if you want to screw in the blades or glue them into the foot pockets. If you want to screw them in, just make sure the blade either has double holes or no holes and you'll have to drill them yourself. If you want to glue them in it won't matter. Generally if you're buying new blades from a shop they should be able to install them for you as well.

    Hey there, if I were to upgrade cressi impulse to carbon fins, what is the name of the carbon fin? Also is the carbon fin soft stiffness as well? Thx

    How does the impulse fins compare to the salvimar turn 151 fins (plastic version) ?

    • @DivingSports
      @DivingSports  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I don't have the Turn 151s in store but those were my first pair of long fins. The turns don't have water rails going down the sides of the blades as impulse fins do. I would say that they're both soft fins however the impulse fins have more snap and reactivity. Can't compare them side by side but if memory serves me right, the turns are pretty floppy and don't have a ton of reactivity but they're great if you have ankle issues as they're really soft. Personally I don't recommend the turns though, as Salvimar makes their foot pockets so you can only use Salvimar blades with them because of how they're constructed. Salvimar fiberglass and carbon blades aren't super easy to come by either so I would go with a different brand unless you're able to get the Turns at a super cheap price.

    Which brands of carbon fins fit well with these footpockets?

    • @DivingSports
      @DivingSports  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Depends on if you want to mount them with screws or glue. Cressi footpockets use two holes to mount the blades, or you could glue the blades in. So just make sure that whichever blade you're looking at either has two holes, or no holes so you can either drill them yourself or glue them in. Personally, unless you really love Cressi foot pockets and they're the only ones that work for you, I would buy foot pockets around the carbon blades and not the other way around.

    • @mudkip9083
      @mudkip9083 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@DivingSports thanks for the reply. They fit me really well but I’m worried about finding fins that fit them well or if they are a good option for putting carbons on in the first place.

    • @DivingSports
      @DivingSports  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@mudkip9083 Cressi actually makes the impulse blade in carbon fiber, you could always swap directly to that. Otherwise, you shouldn't have any issues putting carbon blades into these, it'll be just like using any other standard foot pocket.

    • @DivingSports
      @DivingSports  ปีที่แล้ว

      Most likely no, I believe they may have changed their design so some of them say Gara Modular, and some just say Impulse. As long as you ordered from somewhere you trust than there shouldn't be any reason to suspect a fake!

    Thanks for the quick video I'm thinking about getting these fins. I am not a beginner though I'm a top tear intercollegiate swimmer and can dive up to around 75feet' with shitty rental fens. I've never actually had nice long fins even even though I can dive deep. I think this would be great just because of the price but is there another fin that might be better for someone with a very strong kick that's experienced in the water? These will obviously be 10 times better than the fins that I've always used. And if I can change the blades later... is it worth to just buy now and change the blades later or should I just go for a better, stiffer, fin? My diving will mostly be in warmer, bahamas water. 185lbs Thanks
