Greetings Michele, love butterflies on flowers and on children's noses. Lately I'm drawing wings...I need practice.
Unfortunately I've never seen that butterfly specie, they're so illusive. Maybe Vancouver is too cold.
Watercolor pencil art is growing.
🦋 take care.
Hurray! Butterflies!
I love them too!
What a beautiful watercolor pencil butterfly Michele. I think I’ll finally give my watercolor pencils a try. Thx as always. 🥰💕🐶💕🥰
Thanks Alicia!
Oh wow a Blue Pansy Butterfly from Singapore!!! I am loving this. This will be great for my college classmate who is from Singapore. I will definitely be trying this one soon. Thanks for sharing this wonderful video with us.
Thank you for telling us what the name the butterfly is it really is quite lovely...🎨✍

Yes check out Michele's videos! She's a fabulous teacher.
Absolutely amazes me how easy the drawing skills come across from your teaching. Drawing is always my hardest part and you truly make it easier for me. Thank you, Thank you!!!!

💙I love this! Thank you so much . . . I just visited my daughter in Baltimore and we went to the museum. She loved the preserved butterfly collection, so I just ordered my first watercolor pencil set - did I even know they exist? Noooo! - and given my okayish drawing ability I'm going to give this a go for her birthday card. 🦋 💙
Oh, wonderful, good luck!
Thank you Michele. Great tutorial as always & a beautiful butterfly 😊

Exquisite butterfly! And how you detail the drawing process by breaking shapes into measurements is excellent! 🤗

My phone is being taken over by gremlins my daughter is being gracious and lettingvme use her tablet so i can catch up on favirite artist watercolor videos.. the techinque of leaving a space between the lines intrigued me and itcwas a great technique im deftly going to be able to use alot thank you for teaching this video i picked up a few techniques i can deftly incorporate also...glad i seen this one as i enjoyed your pior videos of incorporating wc pencils with water coloring painting..mikelle art mom🎨✍👩🎨
Gremlins, ah, don't get them wet after midnight ;-)
Very nice. There’s something always appealing about the blues.
I foresee my impatience making an unholy, muddy mess with that vibrant set of colours if I should try it though.
Ah, be positive :-) The blues are beautiful, I think it's because there are so few blue animals and flowers.
PS: Might you consider doing a Monarch butterfly? 🦋
Great idea!
It is a moth , but beautiful nun the less, but thank you so very much for your brilliant tutorial and demonstration . I am enjoying your instruction as-well. I am new to your instructions and learning a lot . Thank you so much for sharing❣️
Butterfly
You’re welcome 😊

I love butterflies! Love your tutorial!! Are you using inktense watercolor pencils or regular watercolor pencils? I can’t wait to start using them!!
These are regular as far as I can recall without watching again, but you could certainly use inktense.
One heads up about watercolor pencil and use of Dorland's wax: I've found that Dorland's Wax smears any watercolor pencil marks that haven't been activated with water. I now use a "fine art spray" to fix the pencil for unframed pieces.
Great tip!
It’s a butterfly - butterflies have knobs at the ends of their antennae rather than furry antenna.
Well I didn't know that before - thanks!
I tried (not too much effort) doing this butterfly. Someone had given me Artist’s Loft watercolor pencils, so I tried the butterfly. The drawing was fine, but the colors just did not blend. Its a blotchy mess. With that said, I am going to go over it with more color and try to improve it. It was my first go at these pencils. I may try it again with better pencils at some point.
Yes it's usually the pencils if they won't blend. You can buy singles in order to try different brands!
I drew and painted along this time (which means that I might need to watch it again in one piece 😂). I think I worked too small for most of the details but overall happy with the result. I learned a good deal so I might give a go to my favourite butterfly next time, which is a peacock.
I saw it on Twitter! Thanks for tagging me, such a good result!
@@IntheStudiowithMicheleWebber I always tag people I take inspiration from (using their photos as reference, following their tutorials, participating in their challenges). Giving feedback is important to me and that's the easiest way. I'm happy you liked it ☺️
Measuring proportions was a pain when I was learning to draw in Art class. As we were not allowed to use rulers, I also had to learn to measure with my pencil(s). Thank you for the detailed explanation on how to draw this beautiful butterfly. Blue is my favorite color.
Edit. Had a thought about the white parts. Since you are using watercolors, could you use white gouache on those parts?
You are very welcome May :-)
I love your butterfly! I think you're right that its a butterfly. Isn't the way to tell a butterfly from a moth by the antennae? Butterflies have a single thin antenna and moths have those feathery ones?
Interesting, maybe!
Is it an option to wet small areas one at time, spreading the color over the damp paper, rather than coloring it first and wetting it afterwards?
Yes, that is done sometimes. Do a search for watercolor pencil techniques and give them a try on a scrap of paper or in your sketchbook. You can even wet your pencil first then draw, but look at a tutorial to find out the best ways to use water with pencils.
Whatever works best for you Caitlin :-)
I’m not sure, but it looks like a moth not a butterfly, but it’s still beautiful
