Tip of the Hat to your father for instilling a work ethic in you as a kid and a young man. Thank you for sharing your story. You and your crew do an excellent job on your builds. Keep up the good work!

No its not. Americans are working and producing more than at anytime in the last 70 years. Work ethic, is just what you call overworking yourself when the stakes less dire than homelessness or death.

I like your dad's not accepting excuses. As a supervisor I would tell the people working for me that for every problem they brought me I wanted them to offer their solution to it. It did two things 1) It turned then into problem solvers 2) It made it less easy for them to just drop problems on my desk.

@Barry Cheshier You got that right. Most college educated people do not know how to think outside the box and get it done. It seems like Eric here knows how to "make it happen" as his dad said.

I see many comments on having a college degree doesn’t mean shit. I don’t think that’s true. It’s not all across the board. At my job many technicians hate and try to bring me down because I have a college degree. Because of my education in engineering and technical construction experience, our company can have work aka money coming in for city jobs. I wave my degree and in back it up with actions.

Extreme for some, but of course growing up in the country in TX, that’s just what we call living. Kudos to you sir, your success should not be a surprise to anyone who knows you, you earned it.

Hard to find honest hard working people like you now a days. I studied construction management at UTSA but ended becoming a firefighter after graduation. Funny how life takes its turns. Still love construction though.

  • @JohnGoingAndDoingThings

Thank you for your story. I had a similar life story. I started to work at a computer store right our of high school - I needed medical insurance and pay for my room to rent (both parents were retired early, so I looked to become less of a financial burden), and go to college full time for Nursing. Fast forward, I received multiple job offers for IT positions while working in the computer store, and the pay was more than 50% of my pay at the store. I did the math, and saw that I potentially would make more in the next 4 years than anyone graduating from college with a degree. Balancing full time work and school full time for Nursing was not doable with how much lab and course work there was. I withdrew myself from college and took the job offer that I liked. I was debt free in 2 years after starting work, and was in a good financial position while all of my age-level friends were still piling on student loan debt and still in school.
You're inspiring and I'm glad I found your information packed channel, from Matt's Off the Ranch, Demolitia Ranch.

I found you about a year ago!
I'm a realtor here in Nashville Tennessee. Barndominiums are popping up every where especially in a hundred miles raduis around Nashville.
I have told thousands about your channel!!!
You are amazing, your work ethic is one of a kind, I can tell you genuinely care for your clients.
Let me help you, be extremely careful fliming and driving.
Its illegal plus if you accidentally kill someone and they prove you were filming while driving then all your barndominiums will be gone!!
If your gonna do it get a go pro and put it on the windshield facing you so your eyes are on the road.
I love everything about you anf don't want to see you loose it all plus it's very dangerous!!!
Also if your insurance company sees this they will cancel you!
Don't trade for what you want now for what you want most!!

How do you pay your employees/subs for 2020. Is it by the hour? Or by contract? Here in Ohio we have the same issues. Usually subs tend to do bad work in the area of cleaning up after themselves, as well as people working hourly. Have to be after them all the time. Do you still use hourly workers or subcontractors? One company asked me if I wanted to do pole barns for them in Ohio because they don't have many in this area, I'm still thinking about it. I currently remodel houses and flip them. I would be open. Whatever ad ise you have, I would appreciate.

Just note Wyze cameras don't have built in wifi yet so the barndo will need to have wifi
I use a jetpack from Verizon and I have seven cameras running.
      Good luck

Admire his creativity. Surprised he didn't go into the computer science field. At his age computing was just beginning to bloom. If he was into it. Good chance he would the on the billionaire's list.

I really enjoyed this. My boys still give me hell because when they were young I'd asked them why they did something. Then when they tried to tell me why I'd interrupt them and tell (yell lol) them that's an excuse, I don't want no damn excuse lol Sounds like you were raised like me and a lot of other people.

Great talk and great lessons. I’m a teacher and I’ll use your wisdom with my students. I’m thinking the quote should be, “Don’t trade what you want most for what you want now”, not, “Don’t trade what you want now for what you want most.”
