I think people don't quite realize just how much BTS did first that is now taken for granted in Kpop. Groups now have their own TH-cam variety shows because BTS started one. They weren't invited on most so they had to do something different. Now almost all groups do it. They documented themselves travelling together. A lot of groups do it now. They go live and film behind the scenes clips that show what they are really like. Before this, idols were immaculate and stuck exclusively to the "personalities" their labels assigned them. They were meant to be perfect and mysterious. BTS were open with their fans.

Even the fact that places like Target and whatnot carry kpop albums now is because of ARMY.

This is so true. Like they see that BTS made their own variety show and there's the thought maybe that "every idol group has their own variety show." But they didn't used to. BTS started that. BTS started themed dance practices. BTS showed their humanity and sincerity and their goofy side. Now every group out there has a "hyung who acts like a maknae," or "seem cold but is really warm" or "the more feminine member," and "chaotic" has become a concept. Before BTS, groups didn't show candid moments behind the screen and, without much variation, they were all just perfect idol-worthy specimens. So BTS really shook things up and made kpop so much better for the artists who get to have a little more freedom and personality and also for the fans who get more intimate content. People just don't know how much of what's normal now was BTS first. OH! Big stages, too. BTS were the first to really have a stage full of dancers and really elaborate productions at award shows.

Just as a point of clarification and a little bit of important kpop/BTS history...the term "Big 3" only incidentally referred to the 3 biggest companies at the time. They were actually called the Big 3 (JYP, SM, YG) because of the POWER they had (and still have) over the idol industry. They owned the music shows, the radio programs, the award networks, the variety circuit, the media and had the contacts to make whatever they wanted to happen in the industry happen. That's why until BTS came along, only their artists won the big prizes and got the best slots on shows and the most invitations and opportunities. They blackballed artists they didn't like, squashed every group that tried to compete, set industry standards that were abusive to artists, and used their considerable power and leverage to give every group they deputed the best odds in the industry. They had the whole kpop world under their thumb until BTS and BigHit evened the playing field. BTS came from a small, nearly bankrupt company and had very little power or opportunity. In fact, when they started to compete with Big 3 groups, they were repeatedly harassed and sabotaged from every corner of the industry. BTS made their way to the top with the help of ARMY and BigHit alone and, in doing so, dismantled that power structure that made it impossible for artists from small labels to thrive. Now we see plenty of groups from smaller labels do great in the industry. So ARMYs really don't like the term "Big 4" because it implies that HYBE is part of this oppressive power structure when the people who built HYBE are largely responsible for breaking it down. Plus, HYBE still does not have the industry power that SM, JYP, and YG have. They have money, they have ratings, they have leverage, but the kpop infrastructure is still largely financially and politically tied to the Big 3.
Anyway, yeah, just wanted to raise it because it is historically inaccurate and kind of icky to call some of the biggest victims of the Big 3, part of a "Big 4."

Although RM suggested in an interview that ‘Real Me’ might better describe him, he never actually adopted that… so he’s just RM, or Namjoon. Poet, artist, intellectual and social commentator might also be good ways to describe him. He is the core of Bangtan and the main lyricist, without him they wouldn’t be the creative force they have been as a group and probably wouldn’t have held together this long.
Agust is pronounced like August. I won’t start on how important Yoongi and his music is to me and many people or I’ll end up writing a book.
J-hope’s idol was/is J-Cole, with whom he has recently collaborated. In 2018 he named his first mixtape ‘Hope World’ after ‘Cole World’. Very early on, BTS wrote their own unofficial version of J-Cole’s ‘Born Sinner’, recasting it as ‘Born Singer’, a telling of their personal journey and updating it and performing it live every few years. The most recent version was finally officially included in their anthology album ‘Proof’, with J-Cole’s blessing.
Jin is only 3 months older than Yoongi and about 14 months older than Hobi. It’s important to emphasise that he treats the whole WWH (Worldwide Handsome) thing as a joke. I think this guide dwells too long on that and misses a bit of his artistry and true character. He started doing the ‘Eat Jin’ mukbang lives partly as a way of addressing eating disorders particularly among young ARMYs, and is hugely but quietly philanthropic.
Jungkook was only 13 in international age when he auditioned, barely 14 when he moved into the dorm to start training (at the opposite end of the country from his family) and 15 when BTS debuted, with him as Main singer and Centre, a huge responsibility. That sublime pure tone is the glue that binds all the distinctive voices of BTS. Suga had to stop using Jungkook to sing the vocal guides for songs he was producing for external clients because some of them found it intimidating.
What to say about Tae… yes, he’s beautiful. Also kind, charming, complicated and intriguing. There’s a depth and mystery which manifests in the songs he chooses, especially in the ones he writes himself, and a vulnerability which sometimes makes it seem as though he has to hold himself still. His voice is so rare in k-pop and it’s been wonderful to hear a more jazz influenced delivery in his solo work. I think it’s telling that Suga said at one point that he felt Taehyung might be the most musically ambitious of them all.
Talking of rare voices, Jimin is extraordinary. His training period was so short (well under a year) and he hadn’t previously sung, so he struggled initially to find his voice and build confidence in it. I’m so glad that he decided to use this solo chapter to return to singing lessons to help him further develop and maintain that amazing instrument.

I love this guide but it's true that it just touches the surface of each of them. Jin's true depth of kindness is harder to see at a glance, but once you get to know him a bit, it's so much a part of him. The humor is just easier to see. But the Jin who sings his heart out on Epiphany is just as real as WWH 💜
I definitely like using the guide as a starting point - because once you get below the surface, every one of them is a whole, layered, lovely person.

The Big 4 term is debatable. Yes, Hybe (formerly BigHit) is now a big company, but the Big 3 wasn't necessarily called that just because of how big the companies were, but because of their power, influence and connections in the industry. In Korea, these connections are very important and generally based on status quo. Which means that a newer company, even if it's big and has a lot of influence outside of Korea, still has very hard time to breach these connections. Especially a company the Big 3 have considered to be a threat.
On top of that, the "Big 4" label is often used by people who claim that BTS come from the same privilidge as artists who signed with the Big 3 (meaning they had the same opportunities and were treated as equals by the industry, which is simply false). Which is why a lot of ARMYs tend to flinch at the "Big 4" term. From the outside, it does seem accurate and I understand that most of the time it's not used with any bad intent, it's just that considering BTS' history, it can feel like they are now bulked up with the same part of the industry that did everything to stop them from succeeding.

    • @RS-oy6bz
      @RS-oy6bz หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Exactly.
Hybe is the richest but without clout or power especially over media. That's why even today in spite of being #1in the world they get the most vile articles written about them still as earlier days. Gets worse the more famous they get.

I know you can't stomach RM standing for Rap Monster but he didnt give himself that nickname, it was given to him by his peers in the rap community. During a rap battle someone (can't remember the guys name) referenced Namjoon's skill by calling him a rap monster, even though they weren't even battling together. He began going by this because it was a HUGE compliment for these adults to call this kid Namjoon something so impressive. Once the group concept changed to an idol group he was suddenly ridiculed for the name but wasnt going to let anyone take it from him just because he became an idol. As he and his style matured, yes he outgrew the name but there's no shame in calling him RM because its a reminder that he's always been a BAM.
This information can be found by doing a Google search for BTS pre-debut years and you'll find these little talked about details on a website (I know website but i dont know website name 😂)

The Army is so protective of our boys and just asks that they be respected, and you have an open mind, you don't have to like everything, we all have different tastes. They have and continue to inspire people to be better and the world needs that so much. You mentioned you were happy their company allows them some freedom, Big Hit's mission from the beginning was Artist & Music for Healing. His main ask of them was to share their authentic stories and selves in their music. They faced hatred not only overseas but at home too, even for their name. Their purpose was to block out stereotypes, criticisms, and expectations that aim on adolescents like bullets. They genuinely love Army and many of the romantic songs you think are about relationships are more about the brothers and Army. They stated at one concert that they just hoped one day their fans could be proud to be an Army. When you start on this journey they really make it hard not to fall in love with them as people and artists. I can't wait to continue watching your journey. Jungkook was especially active with his lives before he enlisted, livestreaming for hours to just chat, sing to ARMY... or sleep 😂. It really depends on the members. Some do lives more than others and they all have different formats and lengths. Some, like Jimin, seem to be more comfortable with more official livestreams, where he has a clear plan of what he's gonna do. • @jhopeur7219
    @jhopeur7219 หลายเดือนก่อน +27

Okay so I just want to add a few points about j-hope bc as comprehensive as this video is, I think Taylor didn't really cover much about who j-hope is as an artist and I've talked to her about this since and I'm hopeful the next version will dedicate more than just one sentence to his rap and writing.
    - j-hope is from Gwangju and he's said his name comes from a mixture of his name (J(ung)-HO(seok)), and the Pandora's Box myth. He integrated this Pandora's Box lore into his second album Jack In The Box where he talks about the parts of himself that were left behind in the box (fear, doubt, anger) when his j-"Hope" persona answered Pandora's call to assuage the ills of mankind. (GENIUS, right??)
    - j-hope has been writing and rapping for 13 years now and has 146 writing credits to his name. He's known for his narrative-heavy lyrics and concepts, his clever and referential wordplay, and his excellent use of production elements and onomatopoeia in his songs. It's important to note that translations for his work are often bad. The Korean language is really flexible and j-hope uses that flexibility to his advantage for his flows and rhymes so his bars are written more in word clouds than linear phrases. He often omits things like the subject, pronouns, and tense so you're left with a verb (that's wordplay), an adjective (that he contrived), and a noun (that references something obscure like a Japanese good luck custom or a western economic principle). Translators sometimes just take the words at face value and write them down so you end up with disjointed, sometimes non-sensical phrases that sometimes get the gist across but ARMYs try to rely on better sources for his bars (like doolsetbangtan . com). Stylistically, he's known for his old-school vibes, his versatility (in voice and style), and his impeccable musicality (which shows in his god tier flows and his ear for melody).
    - j-hope's role as Dance Captain is more than just helping the members with the dance. He's something of an assistant stage director and the actual stage director has relied on him since he joined in 2010 to lead practices and make sure everyone is ready for the stage. He puts a lot of time into monitoring, teaching, and perfecting everyone's dance and the members rely on him for the strength of their stages.
    - j-hope is a happy, joyful guy who brings a lot of energy to the game. But it may surprise you to know that he's also the "most professional" member (according to the boys). He's so diligent and meticulous and he's the only "J" in the group so he's always tidy, punctual, and prepared. He's also more of a listener and a supporter and a validator than a talker. The boys have called him a Pillar and someone whose presence makes being together comfortable and easy. j-hope say's he's "embracing" because he meets people where they are and pays a lot of attention to their needs. So yes, he is a ball of energy and joy and enthusiasm and endlessly kind--but he's so hard-working and professional and intensely focused on the job and the success of his team and his members.
    - I also just want to mention that he is the greatest performer in kpop and I'd put him up against anyone in the west any day, too. Like Beyonce, Bruno, and j-hope. That's the tea. haha
Thank you for bearing with me through all of this. j-hope is our "Golden Hyung" and is often (along with JK) referred to as "the Ace of Kpop" because he just does it all and at an exceptionally high level, too. So, I get that it can be hard to get everything in an intro vid. But people tend to walk away from these guides with this idea that j-hope is JUST dance and really, he is one of the most talented and multi-faceted artists I've ever seen. So, I'm just trying to add a couple of points that give him a little more dimension than "dancer, sunshine, scaredy-cat who also raps." :)
    Have fun on your journey!!

Helpful hint for the guide: Not sure if you know.... Korean people counted age differently to others...
Korean Age vs International Age - difference is 1-2 years depending on if their birthday has been.... In most older videos, including this guide, they are giving Korean ages so you will need to adjust.
The members were only 13-18 years old when they joined BTS and 15-20 yo when they debuted.
In Korea when you are born you are considered 1 year old. Then on lunar newyear every year you add another year to your age, no matter what your birthdate is. ....
Year of birth - International age at Debut on 13June13
    Jin 1992 - 20 yo
Suga 1993- 20 yo Suga started with MIDI at 11
JHope 1994 - 19 yo JHope started dancing at 8
RM 1994 - 18 yo RM started rapping at 11 and was well known in the underground scene at 13
    Jimin 1995 - 17 yo
    V 1995 - 17 yo
JK 1997 - 15 yo he signed with big hit at 13
Rule of thumb - if it's before their birthday - subtract 2 years to get international age. if it's after their birthday - subtract 1 year to get their international age.
The Korean Government has recently (June28 last year) brought in international age as the standard in Korea, but all older videos/ interviews/ shows, will be referencing Korean age.
    💜Have a great day
    Sending Greetings from Australia💜
    52yo ARMY since 2016.

I am glad to know you’re not feeling scared of ARMY anymore…I know we can come across pretty overwhelming at times (and yeah, anyone being hateful, racist, or belittling toward BTS is probably not gonna have a fun experience lol) but the reality is that anyone who approaches BTS with basic respect and an open mind is going to get a huge welcome. I’ve been in many fandoms in my life and I’ve found that of all of them, ARMY is by FAR the most welcoming to new fans. We’ve got nothing but love for anyone who gives BTS a fair chance. Of course every fandom has its share of trolls and bad actors but one of the reasons BTS is so successful and the fandom is so big is that ARMY overall maintains a really strong focus on positive goals like supporting BTS’s music and promoting it to new listeners. So…welcome!!! I hope you have a wonderful time discovering BTS and enjoying what they have to offer 😊💜

It's honestly crazy how much has happened since this video was current, especially since 2022 was when they announced their "hiatus"! I'm a more recent army (within the last year or so) and while the amount of content is definitely overwhelming, it's all SO good and exciting to dive into. Excited for you to hear more from them!
    My recommendations:
    - Run BTS is soooo worth watching to get to know the guys. It's so much fun.
    - For BTS MVs you have not yet reacted to: I Need U, Black Swan, Blood Sweat and Tears, Spring Day, Save Me
    - Live videos: Dimple & Pied Piper (saw someone else say it, but DEFINITELY with lyrics. Pied Piper is wild). The rap line's Cypher 3, Cypher 4, UGH! and Outro: Tear are all incredible. The Run BTS dance practice video is legendary if you want to see some really great choreo from them! (confusing thing: Run BTS is their variety show, but there's also a song called Run BTS, and ANOTHER song called Run. Lol)
    - There are two full concerts available to stream super easily, Permission To Dance LA (on Disney+) and Yet To Come Busan (on Prime). Both are really incredible with a great variety of their discography and have English subtitles for the lyrics!!!
    - Hiiiiiighly recommend Namjoon's two albums (Indigo and Right Place, Wrong Person) since you seem to really connect with his lyricism and voice! RPWP came out this year and is so different from anything I've ever heard from a kpop artist. He's really a special person. The live video for "Nuts" is asjdkflasdjfk unreal ugh
    - Agust D's album D-Day (Haegeum and Amygdala are the singles from it, both with really incredible videos). Yoongi's solo work is SO raw, and D-Day is the culmination of a really beautiful story of healing from trauma.
    - Since you love V's voice so much, definitely check out his album Layover! It's soooo jazzy and smooth, very very him.
Tbh all the members' solo work is incredible and so unique to them! All of them have at least one album out aside from Jin, who just got out of the military last month and is currently working on his! He does have a single he put out before enlisting (called The Astronaut) which he performed with Coldplay (there's a greaaaat live video of that btw).
OKAY I'll stop myself here. There's soooo much to dive into with them! From their early hip hop stuff, to the really complex worldbuilding they did throughout their HYYH series, to the more poppy stuff and their solo work. They're really incredible guys and artists! Always so happy to see someone else appreciate what they do!

I've really enjoyed getting to know you through TXT so watching you fall into the BTS rabbit hole is going to be an absolute delight 😁
Each member is worth spending many hours with, they're all brilliant and hard-working creators. Most of us are very fond of all of them even if we have a bias.
You mentioned Suga's rap tone - I could go on for HOURS about his rap delivery. He uses so many flow switches and polyrhythms and pitch changes and textures and audible breaths and it's just amazing to me 😁
I cry easily too, and actually a lot of ARMY will be the first to tell you to let yourself cry. Jungkook cries! We should all let ourselves show whatever feelings we have.
Do yourself a favor and watch the whole clip from the Wembley concert where the staff worked with the crowd to surprise BTS. It's an English speaking crowd singing their own song to them in Korean, and it hits each member differently. They were told they'd never succeed, no one outside Korea would want to hear them.... And they sold out Wembley.
    It's a special song too.
There are more tearjerker moments. The concert where Suga's parents came has one of the most profound ones. And later - once you really know their early work - the video for We Are Bulletproof: the Eternal will be a beautiful experience. (You can watch it before then, but it won't feel the same.)
Spring Day is a song about grief and loss with a video that makes a lot of references to a specific tragedy. As a song, most of us hold it in a very special place in our hearts.
Mikrokosmos isn't sad, but it makes me cry anyway. Live, I mean - because it's about being together in that moment, and it's so beautiful.
They're always, always worth watching live. The videos are often stunning works of art (Blood Sweat and Tears is really something, you've seen Black Swan), but as performers they just light up in front of a crowd.
And finally... They have a bunch of performances (often from fan meet style concerts) that are silly and delightful. Vocal line performing rap songs, the whole group putting on Suga's solo Daechwita, Jimin and V performing their duet Friends adorably, a stage full of inflatable playground equipment they played on while singing, numerous water fights. Their artistry is impressive, but the goofiness is just delightful.
Seeing a man singing beautifully while sliding down the slide of a bouncy castle is just a special kind of joy 😁

It's crazy how influential and powerful the Big 3 labels are even now. Any rookie group from those labels get insta fans and will get millions of views on their music videos and booked for shows. Meanwhile BTS couldn't crack 30k views on their debut and had to promo online because they couldn't book shows.

  • @coolkizz7211
    @coolkizz7211 หลายเดือนก่อน +10

And the funny part is that what bts used as a form to connect with there fans is now something every kpop idol of group does to promote themselves. Bts did all this to survive in the industry were they basically got no opportunity because it was usually that groups would promote in korean tv shows and than get there fame or even not thats why being from the big3 was so important because they had massiv influence on the industry and thats why mostly groups from the big3 were popular but bts broke this because they promoted themselves more on social media and engaged with there fans. And this is exactly the reason why korean media doesn't like bts because bts did it without them

Y'all do not understand how many firsts BTS has that idols and their fans take for granted today. BTS literally are the first idols that made vlive a thing and now everyone using weverse which is basically vlive integration with weverse. Back in 2018 U.S didn't care less about kpop even places like target and didn't have a single kpop album but army worked hella hard to convince them and other stores that the demand is there and normalize having kpop albums today in all stores. Radio station didn't Care less about kpop but after army started to request BTS songs and Even sending flowers and letters to radio stations djs they started to play BTS songs. U.S record labels didn't see any significant for kpop but only after BTS happened they started signing kpop acts contracts that they never dreamed of. U.S and Europe concert venues and promoters started dealing with kpop acts only after BTS had multiple successful tours with a huge demand. I could go for a day listing every opportunity that wouldn't occur for kpop and kpop fans if not for the crazy effort BTS, army, and bighit put into making things seem easy today and this is one of the reasons I get really mad when I see a kpop group or fan disrespecting and/or discrediting BTS. For Kpop fans in general just be greatfull and move on.

The BIG3 are SM, JYP and YG. Some consider HYBE as one of them and call them Big4 but i personally don't agree as HYBE is relatively very very new. Being one of the Big3 has more to do with power, legacy and connections rather than just money, as SM JYP and YG have existed and made Kpop groups for decades now. Hybe is literally just 4 ish years old and they do have money but lack pre-existing connections and legacy as the Big3 do.

Please don't confuse ARMY with the scary toxic ones. I can't think of them as being in the fandom, they might be fans, but they aren't part of the fandom. If they were, they wouldn't be as cruel and mean as they are. They'd understand that people have different tastes and whatnot. It's okay not to like a concept, a song, a video or whatever. It's music and everyone has different tastes. What ARMY is protective of are the people that are cruel to the boys just because they can be. The ones who go after the boys just simply because they boys exist.

There are a few fanbases that have a long history of posing as Army to make us look bad, they create fake accounts and just torture people in the comments. Some army can be a little rude and it bothers me too, but they aren’t vicious. I also remind myself often that many people are not English speakers and use google translate. BTS is a multi talented group of artists, that worked their butts off, slowly and against all odds gradually became known worldwide! I want to stress that I am not speaking angrily. I apologize for my passion. They definitely did not become popular overnight!😊 I’ve been an army since 2015… and remember calling radio stations off and on for years, asking them to play BTS . And of course the response was very negative! Just an example… BTS has worked hard and long and has paid their dues the old fashioned way! I think that’s why people feel so strongly about BTS. First and foremost was the beautiful music… then learning about the little poor music company they came from. It’s like didn’t have a chance , they shouldn’t have made it, but they did! They came together… and became brothers and did it!! The ultimate underdogs!! They were something to watch grow and make mistakes and triumphs… and beautiful music and dancing and artistry! Who doesn’t love a great underdog story?😊 Their journey was lovely and inspiring to watch unfold!!❤❤❤❤❤

Hii, I just subscribed💜 BTS members are now in the military, Jin recently was discharged and he is already working in his solo album, J-Hope is next to discharge in October, the rest comeback in 2025 😞💜
Well, to respond some of your questions or comments:
    - RM, it's okay if you want to name him like that, ARMY uses most their real names when we refer to them (Namjoon, Joon, Nam, Namu) but as an artist RM it's okay and yes, now it stads for "Real Me".
now RM songwriting credits are +217 I believe, he's still the second idol with most song copyrights ^-^
    - Yoongi in the list of fastest korean rappers with other legends, his raps is usually very raw and honest, that's why many people admire his solo work outside of BTS... He was the most streamed soloist until 2023
    - (Update) in the video and at the time, J-Hope was the most followed in Spotify, now it's Kim Taehyung (V) with +18M followers.
In 2022 J-Hope make history in Lollapalooza were he got the highest crowd attendant ever for the festival show in Chicago.
    - Jungkook was actually 13 years old when he joined Big Hit, the members were with him since his high school years, he's from Busan along with Jimin.
    - Taehyung and Yoongi are from the province of Daegu.
    - We definitely get it, Kim Taehyung is the most handsome man in the world since 2017... He's ethereal, his face is often studied by experts and his talents (especially expressions and dance wise) make him gain the title of Idols of Idols.
He's voice is very unique and uncommon in K-Pop, also his vocal range as you see is really amazing.
We don't know about the "hidden member" thing, no one ever talked about that, we just assume it was for marketing purposes, but it's really sad that Taehyung got that treatment as a teen... (he has expressed how anxious and hurt he felt about no one knowing about him but the rest of the group)
    - Jungkook as main vocal does a lot, he is in charge of guidelines, melodies, most of the adlibs and he helps all the members a lot with techniques.
As you can see, All the members have a role and importance in the group, they respect and only want to be good and helpful for each other, all the members never stopped working hard for their dreams and even though they are up there in the charts, they maintain so humble and kindhearted that it's mind-blowing❤️‍🩹
They are often disrespected and people doesn't seem to stop the hate towards them (in all aspects), but I believe this just make them stronger, all hardships make them bloom even more and as an ARMY I think I will be forever grateful for all the love they give to the world💜

I mean they have definitely evolved and became even better versions of themselves but they always kept us with them in that journey so it feels like we grew up with them and never changed in things like giving their time and love to army or staying true to their values and connencted to their roots or in just their basic nature

Army gets a bad rep for some things that can really overshadow how good the fans are a lot of the time. I don’t think Army are really all that different from other kpop fans - you love your group and you get upset when something happens that hurts (or that could hurt) them. The problem comes in that Army is a really big group of people, so even a small percentage of fans that engage in extreme behaviour is a big group of people. Unfortunately bad experiences get more attention- like how you might tell a friend about how good a restaurant was, but if you had a bad experience you talk about it more, warn people about it.
It makes me sad. I’m very proud to be an Army, because the boys are good people. But, are there elitist Army, or places that are toxic? Absolutely. But, for the majority, I think Army (and other fans in other fandoms) that look for and watch reaction content, are looking to have a good time with other fans. It’s fun to introduce something you love to people who are genuinely interested. It doesn’t feel to me like you were coming into this with the plan to be a hater or be disrespectful, so I don’t think you will see much of the kind of reaction from Army that is (very reasonably) undesirable. I’m sorry that you will get that .01% of people with nothing better to do than troll and try make people miserable. I hope you are to block them out and ignore them, and have fun with the rest of us.

I don't know if anyone put it on here, but j-hope's name is a combination of things. It's an homage to J. Cole, who he's been mildly obsessed with since he was a kid. It's a reference to the fact that he wants to be a source of hope to anyone needing it. And it's also a play on words, since it kind of sounds like J. Hosoek (his real name is Jung Hosoek).
Also, a lot of army just call him Hobi, so there's always that option, too.

I'm really happy that TXT is following in their footsteps on this. They don't write as much of their own music, and they don't have as many fan songs yet, but they do have a really sweet relationship with MOA and they love the hell out of their fan songs 😁
I think IU has a similar love for her fans. She's amazing, watch the end of one of her concerts sometime. She just comes out in her sweats after a good bit of the audience has left, sits on the stage, and takes requests. She appreciates that they know her voice is tired so they never ask for the hardest songs.
I'm not really arguing with you, btw - BTS is absolutely special in this way, they stand out. Just mentioning a couple of other good examples, and notably they all love each other 😁
On IU's episode of Suchwita she and Yoongi got in an argument about whose fans are better singers and said they should do a shared concert and have them compete 😂😂😂 they LOVE us even when they're bickering like siblings 💜

BTS are literally the biggest group not even just kpop, that ever happened in South Korea, BTS brought in Billion's a year, they are the reason Kpop is so wide spread, why you can buy kpop album's in the US and Europe and so on, honestly nobody come's close, they've been inactive for quite a while and yet nobody has even came anywhere near close to doing what they did, like with american label's, BTS and BigHit only had Album distribution deal's which ment american label Geffen wouldn't promote them, they had Army which helped BTS get from nothing but boy's with dream's to who they are today.
In 2024 Kpop sale's have been spiraling downhill and Jin alone at Olympic as a torchbearer brought in around 800 million dollar's, closer to 900m, BTS impact is why Kpop hasn't achieved anyhing, bcos nobody is as authentic.
Honestly it is bcps of BTS all these big3 group's have a shot in entering the US at all, not even exaggerating
Just a little, maybe more rhan a little info to help

I really enjoyed your reaction! Yes, ARMY is very protective, but we aren’t mean if BTS just isn’t someone’s cup of tea or something like that. We really only get riled up when someone is being explicitly rude and/or derogatory toward them. If you learn more about their come up and what they dealt with, you’ll definitely start to understand why we have little tolerance for that sort of thing. (xCeleste has a Hardships video if you want to know more. It’s just the tip of the iceberg, but it’s hard to watch nonetheless.)
But all that said, as you’ve figured out if you’re just genuinely curious about them, ARMY is happy. BTS is truly a bright light in the world, and they find you when you need them and are ready. 💜💜💜

RM learned English as a kid, watching the American show "Friends". So he taught himself and no formal training in ENGLISH. The success BTS has had with International artist and RM being able to speak English, this is why Gen 4+ groups must have at least one English speaker. Like with SKZ you have Bang Chan and Felix.

An extra note for this. The members had stage names as it was more common in hip-hop and frankly easier for a global appeal. So Bang and Namjoon came up with j-hope with Hobi. While it stands for the Hope he wants to live up to be, it is also a nod to his favorite rapper J Cole. His first mixtape was also a nod to J Cole (Hope World vs Cole World)

I saw a clip in an older guide where JK talks about how, since he was around the other members all the time at such an important age (he actually joined at 13 - I'm sure you know about how Korean age and international age are calculated), that everything he sees and learns is from them and that who he is now might be the manifestation of all of the other members - their skills and talents and potentials, but also their motivation and discipline and values - coming together. Like, don't get me wrong, he's obviously a naturally talented guy and he has the passion and drive to use that talent to cultivate many skills, but he was also in that sponge stage when he first met them, so I imagine he picked up a lot from the other members, too.

And recommend using the channel Enjoy BTS More for good subtitles on lots of things including many live performances. Avoid most color-coded lyrics channels as their translations are often quite inaccurate - autotranslated in many cases. My favorite lyric video channel is Shadow by Youngi, but for really good translations and insight into word play/puns clever internal rhyming often used by the rap line, use doolset.

57:40 Everyone who was not there with BTS since the before their rise always says BTS got big all of the sudden. Which makes sense in that perspective. But having seen their growth and struggles, I wouldn't say it was all of the sudden. It was gradual through many steps and set backs. I remember when they started getting a bit of notoriety in the US back in 2016/2017 and there was so much push back from radio station people and fans of western artists and wooowwwww you wouldn't believe all the racist asian names they got called. It got worse in 2020 because of covid. and though it's less now, I still see racism and xenophobia towards them today. That being said, being asian myself, I know racism doesn't just go away. But I'm proud of them for continuing to persevere and succeed.

TayloTaylor is working on the chapter 2 version. She stated that she wouldn't release it until the guys are back from their military service in June 2025, because she wants to make sure all of their Chapter 2 solo projects and content are covered in the second guide. She will not update this guide, she is doing a continuation, not an update. So probably she will cover their Proof Anthology comeback and their PTD On Stage and BUSAN concerts (I Hope she does) and their solo work and military service. Then we can put that chapter to rest and start on their new grown up BTS ERA.
The Big three companies are still the big 3. HYBE may be bigger than all the companies put together, but they do not hold the power in the Korean market. They have money, but they do not hold control over media, TV, and K-Pop industry, like the big 3 do (SM, YG, JYP). Those companies still block and hate on BTS. Not as much as before, but BTS are still to this day being messed with by the main stream media, and blocked on network tv, and in other ways. There are videos on it that Boracity Magazine and Asian Arts and Entertainment cover that explain it well. I'm not even talking about the Western market and their shenanigans, maybe another day.
So Big Hit Entertainment was the original small independent label of BTS, then as BTS grew and became successful, Big Hit also grew. Eventually, they became so big that they decided to diversify and expand into other markets and other forms of Entertainment, like gaming, movies, webtoons, social media platforms, merch, etc. That's the time that Big Hit broke off into 2 companies, HYBE - which is the multi-label conglomerate that it is now, the financial side of things, going public and having a board of directors. Then Big HIt Music, a subsidiary under HYBE, which is BTS's label and production company, which has BTS, TXT, and Lee Hyun, as their artists, and the company remained private, in order to protect it's artists. (smart decision in my opinion). HYBE now has many subsidiary labels under it's South Korean home HQ, and they have other expansions of HYBE in Japan, and America, and those companies also have subsidiary labels. I heard that their next expansion will be in the Latin America market. Anyway, that is their company.
BTS started out going live and never stopped, and even now while they are in the military, they will leave messages for ARMY's on Weverse. JIN was recently released from his service and he went directly to the company and did a live stream for ARMY's. Then later their was a video of all the guys with him, because they took time out of their military schedule to see him home. They can't do live video, because it's not allowed, but J-Hope did do a short dance clip after his album HOPE ON THE STREET came out a few months ago, and he visited his pop up store in South Korea, with his ARMY buddies, and they video tape him doing a quick dance in his uniform to his song NEURON. it's adorable. I'll link it for you.

I am Love Yourself era ARMY, what I've learned from my baby ARMY time, BTS was already well know overseas during their rookie years, 2014, they became more well known after HYYH and during Wings era, 2016, then they got even bigger during Love Yourself era, 2017-2019. After that they got huge during Dynamite era, 2020.
    S. Korea entertainment never took BTS seriously during their rookie years, they started to take them a bit more seriously around by the Love Yourself era.
We have seen many articles doubting BTS success, and a lot of of them were seeking a grouo to replace BTS. BTS have done so much for the S. Korea entertainment and all they get is backstab.
Why ARMY are protective, because besides antis and haters and toxic ppl from mutiple fandoms, we had to deal with S. Korean and Western entertainments and medias constant attacks. The bigger they get, the more hate we see. It is very important for us to show BTS we still supporting them, that's the minimum we can do for them.
BTS are good people and don't deserves that much hate.

Before being army, I was also hesitant. I felt like they have such a big protective fanbase,, why do they need me?? But BTS made me feel like they did need me! And SO happy with my decision & met many loving army friends!!! You probably can relate :D
