The thing is that this wasn't the original cast of MadTV. The ones on this episode were actually the second group. From the Season 1 cast only Nicole Sullivan, Phill LaMarr, and Debra Wilson remained at this point.
Mainstream comedy is dead because of the cult like political correctness, virtue signalling and political activism. Some of the best comedy is supposed to be offensive with nothing off limits. This is why South Park is still successful in 2024, they don't give a f who they offend lol
I like to believe there's also no war, famine, and the concept of the US dollar was never created in that universe. It would be a better universe because of MAD.

What the hell happened man? Why can't comedy just continue to be this? its fun. Its funny. It was relevant of the times. Why can't we just have THIS? So many people notice how ahead of its time MadTV was. I also appreciate little things like the sketch where they were the Swedish band. A song was created for the show, they wrote a sketch, pre recorded it, then played it before forming the made up song live.
If it were actually ahead of its time, everyone would just complain about micro aggressions while discussing the best pronouns to use when grooming children.
There was once a sketch where Michael could control the smell of his own farts to be any customized scent of his choosing and was meeting his girlfriend's family for the first time....in my opinion that was the funniest MadTV sketch of all time....I remember at the end of the episode they showed the bloopers and they literally must have had to reshoot and edit over 20 times....absolutely everyone involved in the sketch could not hold it together
Best time spent was watching these thespians hard at work cranking out the yacks and laughs and made the family mad with laughter. Now that cancer came to collect. It's great to have these to reflect and greater to know we had such great material to come together around and lack in these current days.
I went to Cal State Fullerton for awhile, nobody had that kind of energy 🤣 I miss this show. Variety comedy isn't the same anymore. Nobody can make fun of stuff without everybody getting offended and forgetting what comedy is.
I remember that scared straight trend- sanctioned child abuse. Only MAD TV could manage to find humor in that! 🤣 It's dark humor. Not everyone can cope. 🤣
I remember I had brought this first generation iPod from a friend it had all the mad tv and Dave Chapelle shows on it and I lost it running home trying to get in before my curfew 🤦🏾♂️🤣
The Fun Room Sketch to me is pure gold for that one part where they reference Dafoe and Shadow of the Vampire, right down to one of the iconic scenes and the line from it 😂 whoever wrote that bit is an absolute legend!
i watched mad tv as a teenager, and only 3 months ago did i see the fun room sketch...i'd have to say that of all the years of watching mad tv, the fun room is my favorite ever

Everybody involved in this show was so talented. You don’t see stuff like this anymore.
Definitely once in a lifetime 🥲
MADTV was leaps and bounds ahead of SNL. All SNL does is make lame jokes on people they don't like politically and call it funny. 🤮
Exactly. I can not find SNL funny at all but MAD TV i am always crying lol @@gaiali453

Mad TV at its peak still takes the cake over all other comedy shows
you don't know enough comedy shows to say such a statement.

Its was definitely underrated but aint no way in hell it was better than In Living Color

Imagine the wonderful alternate dimension where MADtv became more popular than SNL
I always liked mad TV better
I like to believe there's also no war, famine, and the concept of the US dollar was never created in that universe. It would be a better universe because of MAD.
I for one would choose to watch Fox over NBC at 11Pacific/12Central
that would never happen cuz the public loves mediocre shit more than actual gems

Will Sasso as Kenny Rogers kills me everytime.
