Back when i was a kid, my mom used to chop up some onion and mix it with lemon juice and a bit of sugar into a bowl and i would sip on it when i was sick. It worked pretty well. Its a Mexican remedy.

The number one reason people cry when cutting an onion is by using a dull knife which presses down on the onion releasing the sulfuric acid. When cutting with a very sharp knife the gasses and acids are not released.

Have quite a few onions to store, not a lot of cool space. What potential problems might there be to store them in a shed that gets whatever temperature/humidity is outside, presently in the 90's/monsoon season, AZ? Will be using mesh bags. Thanks!

An issue is that a dehumidifier creates heat. So, maybe also you will want a room A/c with the back pointed into the open part of the basement. That will give you a more precise control of temp and bring down humidity.

How can I use up 6 onions that I put in the fridge? I thought I could store them there but just learned that they are best left out. Any ideas on how to use them up within a months time? I usually use only 1-2 onions a month.

Eat more onions! Onions contain allicin which helps regulate cholesterol and blood pressure but most importantly, helps prevent cancer! I use a medium onion everyday :)
