- In this video I take a first look at the Quechua Fresh Awning for the 2 Seconds Easy tents from Decathlon. I look at its many features and benefits.
All opinions are my own and I was given this tent as a Birthday present from family. It is not sponsored by Decathlon or Quechua.

Thanks for this video, there's not much info about this awning out there! I went ahead and bought the 2-person + this awning, and it's a great combo. (And a huge step in up in luxury from my usual tiny stealth-camping setup!) Took it out for a few days camping recently and it was fab. It really is a different tent altogether with the tarp attached. Plenty of room in there to set up a table and a chair, lots of handy pockets, hooks and lines, you can sit back and cook with the door open. It's great to have a light area to sit in if it rains instead of being confined to the dark interior of the main tent (this almost put me off buying the tent before I discovered the awning), although I haven't tested it in the rain yet. I also discovered the Decathlon comfort picnic blanket fits nicely inside the main tent for a bit of extra insulation/comfort on the ground. Off again with it in a couple of weeks for a longer trip.

Exactly! I couldn't have said it better myself. And it fits the larger 3 person tent as well. So if you ever upgrade or downsize then it has double the benefit.

The 2 Seconds tent mate is a great tent especially after a long...no loooooooooong drive to a location and then have to wait for the campsite to let you pitch. I used to get to the Lake District after a 4-5 hour drive and get there for 5am. I wouldn't be able to pitch the tent until 1pm. By then Im running on fumes. So for scenarios like that the 2 seconds is bang on. The awning just makes that tent wayyyy better
well done quechua , this has taken the easy 2p to another level , only thing that put me off the easy tent was lack of porch area but now that quechua have resolved that with the awning i know dont think there is another tent like it , the slummit cub 2 and gobi 3 was probably the closest rival but they have there own drawbacks but now i think decathalon is going to sell a ton of these once the word gets out
Very true. It offers the flexibility so you can go lighter and just take the tent. Or go with a little luxury and extra space with the awning. For that I think that this makes the 2P and 3P an even better option.

Looks brilliant. I use a coleman classic awning with my urban escape 4 person tunnel tent and even with the bigger tent the extra outddoor space is invaluable. This looks like a great solution. Nice video Paul 👌
Thanks Roger. It was a bit of a rush as the neighbours were starting to make a racket and I know people had expressed interest in the awning. So I wanted to get it published sooner rather than later.
Yeah I totally agree. I always prefer to go a size larger on my trips. If you've go for several days then you need space.

It's a great addition if you have the 2 Seconds Easy tent already. The fact that you can sit up in it should the weather turn nasty is a great feature. Plus if you have a nap in the afternoon you're benefitting from the fresh and black feature. Well recommended.

Thanks for adding this to the video! I'm looking to add the awning to the old arpenaz 3, and I'm a bit scared it won't fit, but knowing it at least fits the 2 second 3P makes me a bit more comfortable that it migh also fit the older arpenaz 3 B&F

Yeah it's annoying as I get asked about it all the time from people around the globe. Some countries decathlon sell it and others do not which is a shame.
Nice video, no one talks about this object .. it took me a day with various researches to find out its existence. Even in a Decathlon store no one had told me about it! Bravo!
Your welcome. My local store was the same. They knew nothing of the awning. I do often check the websites to find new tents or gear and this just appeared one day. It's great add on for the 2 Seconds Easy tents

This looks amazing! Bigger than I expected. I have the 2p easy so will definitely buy this in the future for my next longer than 1 night trip. I have the XL tarp for if it’s raining but that was a huge faf because it’s so difficult to put up. This is sooo much better. There’s a video on the decathlon page of it on the 3p east as well. It’s great that it’s versatile like that and that decathlon have made modular add ons in this way; like you say very innovative. Thanks for showing this.

Plus....It was retailing for £69.99 but has recently dropped to £54.99 so right now it's an absolute bargain right now.
Oh Ive still not seen it on the 3P yet. Ive got yet another tent up in the garden now and quite busy. But that's great that it does fit the 3P. So if you upgrade to the other size tent then you don't need to but another awning. That's brilliant. I do like the look of the 3P but it is quite a bit heavier than the 2P version. I was in Decathlon Nottingham last week and had a chance to have a look around.

I finally made it to England where I was able to pick up my awning. This coming weekend I making a trip to the Florida Keys where I’ll be putting it to the test.

Hi Paul. I was able to take the awning out on my camping trip to the keys. But the tension rod was broke. I fixed it and used it finally two weeks ago.

We had some major rain the weekend I was camping. The tent no issues with. The awning well got wet. No issues I’ll try and waterproof it for next time.

Oh my God, thank you for such a great video!! I have been looking at getting a new tent because the one I currently have which I use on scout trips is not very good at going on long trips when I go away for a week because it’s only me I am currently trying to look at a tent that obviously has the blackout system But I didn’t want to get a two person tent because I wanted more room and when you said that this can also work on the three person tent. You just made my day as a three person tent is what I’m looking for.
The awning is a great add on especially if you want a 2 person tent for a night or two. But would feel cramped if staying for a loner period. I think most experienced campers of a certain age.... Ahem! Me. Will tell you that whilst small tents are nice and are of benefit. After a few days your back begins to ache and the extra room would be a benefit.
Having the awning as an added extra means that you can go lightweight-ish with the tent. I say lightweight-ish as it's not a particular light weight tent. Certainly not designed for hiking or wild camping.
But if you want the extra room then you have the option.

I remember at the time of wanted to purchase it. The staff at Decathlon didn't know it existed either. It was at that time available only on Decathlons website. Its a great addition to the 2 seconds easy tents.
Thanks so much for this review. I'm wondeirng for the second year in a row if i should get it as an extension for my arpenaz 3 B&F tent (which is not in production anymore). Good to know it has a three person option, ill look up the dimenskons of the 3p 2 second tent to see if its possible it'll also fit my tent.
Did you already test it in the rain to know if its waterproof?

Oh thats lovely of you. Thank you for subscribing. Please let me know how you get on with the 3-P 2 seconds Easy and the awning. It's not that Im jealous or anything.............actually yes I am jealous and have that tent on my wish list. The awning with the 2 person version has turned out to be one of my favourite combinations.
Go for a one night trip then just take the tent. A few days longer and take the awning. It's a great way to do it. I hope you have lots of wonderful adventures with your new set up.

Great vid I have the 2 man which I use for motorcycle camping and this awning will make a usefull addition. Ideal for wet gear. And sitting in the rain.

Oh that's lovely to hear that my video has helped you make the decision. Yes I must admit as much as I liked the tent before. When it rained all day then I would just lay in my tent for much of the day. With this awning it does give that extra bit of flexibility and mean you can sit in it now. Which Im over to moon with. Plus for the one night stays. You can just stick the tent up and not bother with the awning. For that again I love it.

It’s a shame more manufacturers don’t have vestibule extensions like this but it maybe due to loading on the poles of the main tent especially if the wind picks up.
Not sure how a tent and awning can be made for these prices, as long as it doesn’t leak they seem to be amazing value with some nice design ideas.
Although it’s a 2 person smallish tent it’s relatively heavy, not designed for backpacking so it doesn’t need all the latest super light fabrics poles etc.
No it's most definitely a campsite camping tent and not for wild camping. The 7.85kg I believe it is means that together it makes quite a heavy piece of kit for two people. That said it's great and for a campsite trip I cannot wait to use this set up.
Also I think modular concept is one that appeals. As you can customise your set up according to your stay or duration. Sadly you don't see many about. Would you opt for a modular design tent?
@@ItsaCampingThing Modular design is good, I end up using a tarp as a mess tent when we camp with our Tipi, there is room to cook but it’s normally taken up with storage especially when camping for a week.
I have been looking for a quick to set up tent with an awning for a while and I would never have have considered this brand if I hadn’t see your video, I do wish it came in other colours though. For the price it seems a great set up.

No it only fits the 2 Seconds Easy tents in 2 and 3 person versions

No it only fits the 2 Seconds Easy 2 person or 3 person. I've tried it on the Mh100 and it didn't fit at all

it will fit the Quechua 2 seconds easy 3P fresh and black tent. You just extend the straps for it to fit by sliding a toggle.

Sadly it's not a question I can answer as I don't own the 3p. You know your circumstances better than anyone. That's how I go about buying tents. Look at the internal dimensions and see which offers more space for me personally.
With the 2 person tent at least you have the luxury of adding the awning for times when you need more space. Don't take the awning if on occasion you travel lighter.
With the 3p you have the advantage of a quicker set up as the awning can take some time to set up. Plus everything is sealed in the inner part of the tent. Which is better when you have food and dont want any visitors coming for a midnight feast. And you can always attach the awning later on if you find your circumstances change and more space is required.
Its not easy to answer I'm afraid to say

Thank you. But no it's only designed to fit the Quechua 2 Seconds Easy tents in 2 and 3 person versions. The tents that pop up by pulling on a cord

They suggested i find someone over there to buy one for me and send it to me. ugh. I might know someone in Paris but i'm not sure if they've moved back to the states. I feel discriminated. @@snakeclaw I have no idea of they do ship from the uk. I'm just someone who buys tents and camping equipment and reviews them online. I have no knowledge or influence to make that change. Maybe it's some sort of licensing issue. I know some products here in the UK. All be it food related are not available in the US. Namely kinder surprise eggs and Ribena. But yeah that's a real shame that they do not sell it in the US.
Now I've got a busy couple of weeks and my local Decathlon store isn't local. But the next time I'm up there in a couple of weeks I will ask if there is a way that they can ship over to you.
@@snakeclaw also I remember a us reviewer not giving a great review of Decathlons customer service. That's not the issue here. So maybe although it's a global brand it's not as connected as we would hope to believe. I know in the UK they do not sell them in the store and can only be purchased through their online store. I'm not sure where a bouts in the US you are located. But maybe Decathlon in Canada may sell them? Just a thought
Where did you get it? Have you used the twnt in bad weather cause it is only a 2000 hh

No there is no footprint designed especially for this tent and awning combo. But there is a groundsheet on both the tent and the awning
There is no official footprint, but I used a 2m x 3m tarp, which fits the 2-person tent + awning quite closely. If you set up the main tent up at one end of the tarp you just need to fold and tuck a couple of corners underneath at the front so it doesn't stick out. Next time I take it out I plan to trim those corners off for a perfect fit.
For me, small vestibule is fine. Other stuff can sleep in the car.
It's not for everyone. But the option is there for the people that would prefer some extra space. It saves having to buy a whole new tent

It's designed for the 2 Seconds Easy 2 person and 3 person tents only
I wish they'd just make the 2 seconds Easy in a version that included the awning from the start.
I wouldn't mind having to put in just one pole. To me a tent without a awning is a non-starter.
I bought the MH100XL instead for that very reason.
The awning came out a few months, maybe even a year after the 2 seconds easy tent. So my theory and it is just a theory as I do not work for them. Is that they sell them separately so anyone who already has the tent can just buy the awning later on. The problem is that not many people know of the awning and therefore sadly don't know about it....sadly
