Properly Maintaining Your Hilliard Clutches

I just got one of these today from OMB and put it on a new Hemi Predator.
To be honest my bike scares me now a little, when the clutch grabs it grabs like a jackhammer if i am not careful and it stays locked in all the way back down to 2k rpms instead of falling out early like my stock clutch used to.
I've only had a bike for about a month now and where I could run wide open on the trail near my house I was at about half throttle almost out of fear but mostly because I was fighting the front wheel from coming off the ground :O.

Eh what if chain lube got all over it?
Do I need to clean it with something special?

I'd rather have a keyway rather than a powder metal built in key. They can under certain-conditions shear off , then your done. You can't buy that hub.
