No, you don't need hard. The reason I always choose hard is because the hard maps ALWAYS give you something worth at least what you spend on the map. At lower difficulties you MIGHT find worthless junk and end up losing money.

It can be any difficulty.
The hard map increases the odds of getting an artifact and if you don’t, you will always get bars/coins worth more than the cost of the map.
But it definitely does NOT have to be a hard map.

I totally get what you’re saying. In our latest video I’m looking for two fossil artifacts. I got one in the video but I’m still trying to get the other. The truth is, I have recorded a total of 9 hours of video just running treasure map after treasure map and still haven’t found the artifact I need. Sometimes you get lucky, other times… yeah. I feel your pain.

​@@Zekubaa Not true. If you return to the treasure you DO get (Ingots, Coins, Cups, etc) to the guy next to the map vendor he will buy them from you. That's why I always do the hard map, you spend $75 but you will make more than that selling the treasure back.
