    But why the displacement continues even when the strip of zinc is already fully covered in copper atoms? Next copper atoms are in fact attaching to the already earlier deposited copper atoms. Your animation 3:26 would explain for a thin layer of Cu atoms on the surface of the strip which would trap zinc atoms inside.

  • @sunahangrai3601

    good morning ! why copper is less reactive than zinc although it's before zinc in periodic table ? what determines reactivity of metals apart from valence electrons ?

    • @arminakbari47
      @arminakbari47 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Answer: We find, Zinc is placed higher than Copper in the Electro-chemical Series, since Zinc is more reactive than Copper. Now, the reason is that Zinc loses its valence electrons more easily than Copper to take part in a reaction.

      hi there, do you mean the part on placing copper metal into zinc sulfate solution?
      Since copper metal is less reactive than zinc metal, copper prefers to remain as a metal, thus there is not displacement reaction and there is no observable change in the reaction. Zinc will remain as Zn2+ ions in the solution.
