The fact you assumed my race and claimed we are on separate teams shows you've fallen for the divisive strategy that is IDENTITY POLITICS.
The argument here is much more nuanced that individuality versus the collective or one race versus another. The issue at heart is what are the values we can all agree upon while celebrating and maximizing the true content of character of the individual. While appearances matter, merit matters more. There are so many other more important conversations OUR country needs to be having rather than bickering about hair style. There is a true enemy in the midst and THIS DEBATE right here is exactly what they want. As long as we're "fighting" over trivial matters we'll never address the true issues. We are all wage slaves my dear. Open your eyes to the bigger picture. Being a part of a society means you have an obligation to said society. As JFK said, "Ask not what your country can do for you, but what can YOU do for your country".
Every single American citizen benefits from the sacrifice of those that came before us. If all of our ancestors that survived through the TRUE HARDSHIPS of history could see what is being debated these days, they would be abjectly dissapointed.
Let's not allow their sacrifices to be in vain. WE MUST STAND TOGETHER. We are at a turning point in human history. We must focus our energy and attention in the areas that will keep this great country going. Hair just ain't it.

It's not that he is dressed ruggedly and maliciously trying to defy anything. This code is discriminatory. Being a rastafarian is a religion. Rastafarians wear locs. It's ok for you to say that because you're not a black, rastafarian with dreadlocks. What does his hair have to do with his learning? It's just like saying those who color their hard blonde or black should not be in school because it violates the code. I'm sure many students have hair color. I’m 70 years old and fortunately never got to see whats happening today in my lifetime. This has been my experience and I see what’s inside a person and not the color of their skin. Get to really know one another. Put some love in your heart for your neighbor.
I only saw elegance and happiness in some black people who lived across the street from our house as a 5 yr old child, in Tucson, AZ in 1958. I lived with my auntie, since my parents weren’t in the picture. I was curious to see that a black family lived across the street from our home. I knew that there was a skin color difference, but no one had ever told me about color of skin or race differences. I felt like a ferrell cat.
One day as I was playing outdoors, I stared at a fancily-dressed, hats and all, black family coming out of their beautiful home all dressed up for Sunday church, looking elegant and smiling happily as they got into their black shiny 1953 Chevrolet Bel Air and drove away. I remember vaguely the white ring on the thick black tires as they rolled very close by me, and I felt so sad when they disappeared, not sure why, but in my mind, they had become my very own imaginary family. I was impressed by their love for each other, and yearned for a family such as theirs.
I was a skinny barefooted little girl with long brown hair running around this big bare acreage of land in a small house without fences right in front of theirs. I’d see my imaginary family often and felt like I was a part of their family, and enjoyed the feeling as I was in my own “dramatic play.”
After a few weeks went by, I’d look for “my family,” but didn’t see them again. I felt saddened by their absence and they didn’t even know me. How I wished I could’ve talked to them. They had disappeared and I was heartbroken. So one day, without my auntie’s permission, I felt bold enough, so I crossed the street to their house and knocked on the door. The door wasn’t locked and it had slightly
opened. I pushed the door open and felt fear as I slowly walked into the living room. The place was empty, they were gone. I could see a few boxes and stuff scattered on the wooden shiny floor. I stood there teary-eyed, feeling abandoned, and saddened by their absence. I felt like I had lost my very own family. The home felt cold, and as I looked down beside me, “the scattered stuff” was lots and lots of piles of brand new black and white pictures. It was “my beloved family’s” pictures. What a treasure! I wiped my tears, and scooped as many of them on my thin layered dress and cupped them and took them to my outdoor play place. I cherished “my family” pictures for the memories were all I had of them.
I would never again see them in person, and they never knew how much I loved them.♥️

I’m white, I shed tears after the speaker expressed her feelings towards this sad situation. Nobody should be discriminated by race, it’s a shame and I hope that this problem is resolved and the young man understands what’s in his best interest and wish him to be an excellent man one day!
I’m a 70 year old woman and have seen a lot in my day. There are so many black men and women that I admire and think are very special in their elegance, brilliance and excellence. The changes I’ve seen in these last decades have been very impressive and I am so happy that I get to live long enough to see good changes. Believe me it was worse when I was younger, I think we should be getting much better and leave the hate behind And this goes for everyone.

Applying European standards to African students makes ZERO sense. Their hair is physically different, their hair culture and history is entirely different, and that culture and heritage was violently torn from them when they were enslaved in this country.
In addition, there was a law, the CROWN Act, deliberately made to protect locs, dreads and braids. The court and this school ignored the law and imagined that a law protecting such hairstyles DIDN'T intend to protect hair long enough to actually style hair in that manner. It makes no sense at all.
What would happen if Sideshow Bob joined the military. He'd be losing them dreds.

School districts have the right to enforce dress codes and rules. Perhaps Sideshow Bob should get his haircut and join the human race. When I was in school back in the 70s boys and young men were required to keep their hair cut. Our hair couldn't be over the ears or below the collar and girls couldn't wear mini skirts.

I have absolutely no issues with transgender/nonbinary individuals, per se - I have a dear friend of long standing that I have known since she was a 'he'. Naturally, we go places and hang out with people who are 'differently orientated' in various ways on occasion; they're not that unique.
What I object to is ANY 'gender affirmation treatments' EXCEPT for counseling/ psychotherapy/ group thereapy, etc. They can wear whatever they want,& if you don't know, simply ask for their name and address them by that. But NO physical alterations, including hormones, until they are 18, preferably 21!!!

I will always fight for the dignity and value of all ethnicities. But it doesn't say people can go do whatever they want, even with their own bodies. Think about military training- you have to wear their clothes, have their haircut, and have their discipline. Our society is built on cooperation, but we're communicating to young people a sassy, anti-establishment, entitlement attitude when they're still children and don't even know better. When I was in elementary and middle the rules were a lot worse no shorts no long side burn or long hair and countless other rules. Had new updated rules by they time we got to high school.

Certain children cannot be themselves in school, without conforming to other cultures. This is an educational issue. It’s common sense. I just heard a black guy who supports your views make a video. And he also made a point that I thought was crazy, even though he kind of seem like otherwise he was a guy that was trying to be understanding. Well spoken, trying to do his best in school. So here's my question: Will his respect for tradition (by wearing his own style - with his ancestor's hair woven into the braids) be viewed as disobedient? Instead of what it is - homage to his tradition and culture. But, even more troubling - if this 'defiance" goes on his HS record (I suspect it will) is that going to impact his chances when he begins the process of college application? If his perceived 'rebelliousness' causes him to miss out on academic opportunities - there already, could be a lawsuit...

I’m white, I shed tears after the speaker expressed her feelings towards this sad situation. Nobody should be discriminated by race, it’s a shame and I hope that this problem is resolved and the young man understands what’s in his best interest and wish him to be an excellent man one day!
I’m a 70 year old woman and have seen a lot in my day. There are so many black men and women that I admire and think are very special in their elegance, brilliance and excellence. The changes I’ve seen in these last decades have been very impressive and I am so happy that I get to live long enough to see good changes. Believe me it was worse when I was younger, I think we should be getting much better and leave the heat behind And this goes for everyone.
