PlayStation 5 Slim Noise Test fans at idle, boot-up, game booting & disc drive noise

  • In this video, test the noise output of the new PlayStation 5 Slim at boot-up, idle, starting a game, inserting a game disc, booting up a game from disc, and ejecting disc. If you would like see my first video showcasing a lot of details of the PS5 Slim, check this video here: • PlayStation 5 Slim 1TB...
    Some more information to know that may be helpful to others;
    I've tested over 6 different model PS5 Slims over the past 3 months, and the majority of the fans that are tolerable in noise have a DR code on the fan housing, the ones with a D1 code appear to be quietest but hard to get. There is one model, with a code M1 that was for sure the loudest of them all, and that fan literally sounded like a blower motor fan from PS4. So I'd say the DR is the most common, and the D1 is the quietest. You will see the code at the lower left portion of the fan housing when removing the panel that allows you to install an SSD.
    *Another Update
    I made an updated version of the PS5 Slim Fan Noise comparison test, this time a PS5 slim using the NMB model fan, along with my PS5 Phat, and Xbox Series X. This 3 way video comparison can be seen here:

      So is it normal for the PlayStation 5 slim to make that noise

    • @LousWRX
      @LousWRX  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @MKDosani I would say yes. Anytime you start a game, the fan will ramp up in speed, and when you completely exit the game, the fan will go back to idle speeds. My PS5 Phat 1215A model did the exact same thing.

    1. When you download game from disc it is VERY noisy.
    2. I have mine horizontally cause Ive heard its recommended plus all vertical pieces are sold out where I live. BUT THE DISC DRIVE IS SO ANNOYING when horizontal cause its like hidden under a part sticking out so its a bit clunky putting in and taking out discs. And its a bit slanted downwards. Yeah, unfortunately, the PS5 Slim is a little bit on the loud side for a brand new device. There are some fans' models on the Slim that do emit less noise, but the majority of them are all equally noisy. I've become used to mine, but sometimes, when gaming and I my volume on the TV down, it can be a bit intrusive. Thankfully, though, during idle or just downloading game updates, mine seems pretty quiet. It is just the moment I start a game where the fan becomes audible.

      Yeah, it is normal. There are some models that are actually louder, it all depends on which fan model the PS5 slim comes with. But I'd say the fan in mine is pretty similar to what the majority of Slims sound like. Some people still think it is unbearably loud, but I don't think so personally. It's tolerable, if anything.

    • @LousWRX
      @LousWRX  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @Emax297 I've tested over 6 different model PS5 Slims over the past 3 months, and the majority of the fans that are tolerable in noise have a DR code on the fan housing, the ones with a D1 code appear to be quietest but hard to get. There is one model, I can't remember exactly what code it has, but a letter with a number 2 on it, and that fan literally sounded like a blower motor fan from PS4. So I'd say the DR is the most common, and the D1 is the quietest. You will see the code at the lower left portion of the fan housing when removing the panel that allows you to install an SSD.

Like, I'm still using my Turtle Beach 600 headset that needs to have the USB stick in to use and when I pull the stick out, it's quite hot to hold. • @LousWRX
      @LousWRX  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I'm pretty sure it is normal for it to be pretty warm at the back of the PS5 as that is where all the heat exits the system. Just make you have plenty of space in back of the PS5 for the heat to escape and not have it closed off, as that will trap a lot more heat. I also have a USB headset that plugs into the rear USB port, but I can definitely say the cable was never hot to the touch, just warm, but I also have an open space in the rear of my entertainment center for the heat to leave the area. But I have heard stories of the rear USB plugs getting pretty hot during long gaming sessions, so again just make sure there is plenty of breathing room for air to come in and go out, and I don't think you'll have anything to worry about. Hopefully, that helps out a little.

The main thing you need to do is to allow the best speed to enable 5GHZ Mode in the PS5 network settings, and any issues with speed are gone. Just because one person has an issue with a system doesn't mean they all suffer from the same issues. If there is an issue, just return the console. If possible, no one these days deals with customer service from large corporations anymore. It is usually a waste of time, IMO.
