I feel like I want to share a little honesty, not sure why. I have watched you both since you purchased this boat (I know ZERO about boats). In your first few episodes, I have to admit, I thought you were both clueless, I kind of continued watching to see you fail. Over time you have proved me wrong, and I love that. What makes you both so special is that neither of you are masters of anything, but you both put your all into everything you do, and are so willing to learn what you do not know. I watch many sailing channels (not too sure why), but your channel is now my favorite. I can't wait to see you succeed and then excel, which I now know you will do!! Thank you for very second of your content, and I am so sorry that I underestimated you both to begin with!!!! Good Luck!!!

Agreed. And for some reason this has also become my favourite boat life/boat building/sailing channel (and I watch far too many of them!!). Something very refreshingly realistic and honest about it, great sense of humour from these too, and interaction between them. Both super committed to the project and supportive of each other. A real pleasure.

You guys are so honest and transparent, it’s not easy, most people just make themselves out to look so knowledgeable, I’ve owned, built, many boats, sailed thousands of miles and the most dangerous sailors I’ve ever encountered are the most arrogant know it all’s.

No matter how many times your hear from others you where wrong to remove the fuel tank, no matter how many times you may begin to doubt your choice to remove the old fuel tank… you are 110% right. No way anyone could have been able to clean / treat and repair that tank in place. Contaminated fuel accounts for 60% of propulsion loss at sea. That tank and its condition would have definitely let you down at some point.. 10/10. Have watched the whole series to now and you guys should be so proud. The blood sweat and tears that you are putting into it can only be admired. Fair winds!!

Anyone who thinks you've sold out can help themselves to a pint of that wonderful deck cleaner. You're making money where you can and as long as you're trying the products and making sure they're actually half decent/not dangerous why should anyone give a fk? Keep it up!

    Mark,
When you replaced the cracked piece on the fitting, you put the ring holding the pin facing the outside (instead of putting the ring on the inside). With the ring outside, it can chafe on ropes or sails, you should probably switch that back to the inside. (It was on the inside before you removed it).
Really impressed with all your hard work. Looking forward to seeing you back on the water!

Mark you may want to double check the bottom piece of the turnbuckle you replaced. The old one had a swivel that moves with the flex in the mask when you are on different tacks. Your new one is solid and the ears that go over the top of the chain plate may crack and fail causing a dismasting in high wind or or rough conditions. Please take care. You guys are inspirations.

Mark, have you got an itch on your arms as well as a rash if so you may have been in contact with fibre glass (fire blankets?) which gets into your skin. Do not wash your skin with any kind of soap until you have washed with plain water to get rid of the bulk of the fibres then you can use soap.
Have you considered replacing the plastic skin fittings with brass, especially around the waterline such as cockpit drains. The plastic ones degrade with sunlight and a simple brush with a pontoon can wipe them off.
Have you checked the date on the flexible gas hose?
WD40 is a water dispersant, penetrating fluid is better.
    Hope this helps,
    Bryan

If you can find it where you are, get a small plastic bottle or two of teflon pipe dope. This is a white, teflon impregnated pipe sealant paste. It makes an excellent anti-seize, anti-gaul thread lubricant for SS rigging parts, especially turnbuckles and other SS fasteners from 6mm up in size.

Dear Mark and Nadi, I know I've said this on a few of your videos, but to see how you've gone almost from DIY virgins to carrying out a huge list of skilled repairs on your cat is absolutely inspiring. I compare myself and most people I know with you, and I really can't think of anyone who's leapfrogged the apprenticeships and training straight into carrying out skilled boat work. I honestly am amazed. You've saved yourselves thousands of pounds, and that will go on every time something goes wrong on this boat and the ones to come. I'm wondering if, once you've completed everything and are having a well-earned cuppa, you may have completely destroyed your taste for a new boat, seeing the confidence-building aspect of having a knackered old tub as a bonus? Anyway, as always, bless your dear hearts.

Hi guy's, OMG that tank, well done!!! Just a point Mark, your rash might be from the diesel bug. Be careful in the future with minor cuts and abrasions to your skin and then handling fuel with the diesel bug in it. It could lead to blood poisoning. IMO the weight of that tank would put far more stress on the structure than it would give support.

Just for your info mate, all the steel and copper scrap, you can sell, not for thousands but at least for a bit. And all bits help. Remember otherwise others getting the money, Scrap is usually sold per kilo price. So, that tank and maybe old wires gives you back some Euro's mate.

Its funny, in the beginning of this boat project your boat looked right at home next to those beaters next all around you. Now your boat looks totally out of place in that group of ugly old boats. The overhead drone shot really shows it. Very Impressive!!! and also Very Impressive is watching this channel grow so big. 50k people!!!!!!!

people told bb king that he'd sold out because he was using a brass section, and he responded with "i've always used brass" or something along those lines. "live at the regal" is one of my favorite all-time albums. a little tip, as you use the sawzall keep a pair of lineman's pliers handy to keep straightening the blade, and also GET MORE BLADES you'll never regret having too many. also don't forget for tricky angles you can mount the blade backwards and use it upside down. try, as with a chainsaw, to keep the foot engaged for maximum efficiency, and more shorter blades are better than fewer longer ones because of this. I'm still queasy about diesel in the bedroom, and I hope you can find a way to store it on deck. you should sell your tank pieces to those that think it's worth something. maybe they can make a bbq or steam box and eat whatever that gunk is..

Maybe if I was 35 years younger? Don’t forget to sell the metals. Pretty money. Good to get rid of.
Thinking about if you bought a boat of same caliber you had got it for 1000£. But then you had to consider the bad weather as Sweden has to offer.
Good luck to you lovely Love Birds. Music!

I have zero experience with sailboats, but would it have been easier to take down the mast, rework it, then put it back up? I really enjoy watching you guys fix up the boat.

Great job on removing the tank whoever safety first. Perhaps one does not need a full set of toes to sail, I don't know I never tried it. Carry on young Wildlings, carry on...

Hi you two, I saw you fiddling with the gas pipe. I would if I where you change the complete gas pipe.
Because even its copper pipe they will be brittle over the years especially in salt environment. Copper gas pipe isn't that expensive and it gives so match more safety.
You both doing a great job .

Love the Monty Python reference, “it’s only a scratch”. LOL.
you’re getting closer to the finish line. YAY.
Hey- what happened with the dog?
Seeing it’s not shown in your videos, I’m guessing she didn’t fit in with life aboard the cat.
All the best- good luck with the rest of the work.
