Nothing like the books. Writers made Kennedy and Jameson out to be bumbling fools! In fact, childish antics with fist fights, car chases, Kennedy and Jameson always getting bonked! In the books, Kennedy was a professor and Scientist, much like Sherlock Holmes. He assisted the Police in difficult to solve cases involving forensics, and was a genius with electronics, chemical analysis, medical diagnosis, and.geology. This was hard to get through, though I understand the era in which the screenplay audience's were trying to attract for the Saturday afternoon matinee. Thank you for sharing this.
Most of the 1930-ish serials were not polished, but that is a post-retro perspective drawn from today's polished productions. It is a historical view of the times and what was considered suspense. The cars, clothing, homes--all of it a testament of life pre-WWII. This presentation has a few film flaws that are not in others on TH-cam. Oh well...not complaining, just reporting. Love the boxy cars, dirt roads, dusting up as the cars speed along! Precious! :)

When they asked at 1:17:20 "Who is the Clutching Hand?" I thought they asked: "Who is the Clucking Hen?"
That would be my ex-wife.
Don't even try and figure out who the Clutching Hand is. The ending comes out of nowhere.
