  • Previously, I came across damaged panniers and a top box on Ebay for $235.
    With help of some filler, 3M sandpaper, lots of patience and the good folks at ColorRite, I was able to make the panniers look nice again.
    I also painted the rear side panels, changing them from factory Digital Silver to Candy Prominence Red as well.

    Wow great job. Hey I was one of the guys trying to talk you out of painting the panniers yourself. Man you showed me😳....Nice work

      LoL It was an interesting experience, especially doing it in my apartment. It's all about patience and prep man!
      Colorite actually sends the directions for the final prep and paint portion!
      The hardest part was regulating the temperature and venting paint/clearcoat fumes in my apartment lol

    Greetings from the UK. Thank you for your channel. Afer months of looking at bikes I have picked the VFR. It's good to swim against the mainstream.

      Unlike a lot of people, I really love the fact that there aren't a lot of these bike here in Texas.
      Even non-motorcyclists compliment it.

    Very nice work,, I just bought my 2010 vfr1200f, new 0 miles and just turned over 2500 miles.. I also think these side bags make this bike look slick..

    Wow! Really good job. I tried touching up my bags with a brush style touch up paint. I obviously have no idea what I'm doing and screwed it up so badly I decided to just paint them with black plastiseal. I figured, whenever I eventually figure out how to do it right or find an easier product to use, I'll just peel off the black. Might be time to try again.

      I agree!! There's no way I couldve picked a better bike for myself. It's a shame Honda moved away from sports touring.
      I love mine...so much so that now, I want another one...either a white DCT or a black one with a manual trans.

    • @chestypuller4591
      @chestypuller4591 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yea man. I wanted the red but could not find one near enough to me to make the drive. The black is really elegant. It's a sleeper color. People/other riders don't expect the bike to do what it does because black is just gentlemanly. You get some cat riding your ass and give her shot of throttle and bam...your gone! I see you have color matched panels under the seat. I do as well. I don't like that Honda put silver panels on many of these bikes regardless of the overall paint color. Weird. Anyway, great videos! Ride safe!

    WOW...BEAUTIFUL WORK!!! Did you need to wet sand the entire case cover down first? Any type of primer or color? I have the same bike and also need to touch up some areas. Are you going to repaint your entire front cowling...sanding etc? Thank You for the video...AWESOME JOB!!!! 👍👍👍

    • @behindbarsmototouring898
      @behindbarsmototouring898 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The amount sanding depends on the condition of the surface. If there no deep scratches, you can scuff it with 600 grit...sometimes even 800 grit.
      And yes, I plan to paint the front cowl and the mirrors. I need to make an updated video because, since this one, I have painted the rear seat cowl as well.

    I noticed you have T Rex Racing frame sliders and engine case guards on your VFR. I have a 2013 1200 F and was considering the same gear from T Rex. Did you install those items and if so was it a pain in the ass to do? Are they sturdy and would you recommend the sliders? Love the red. I have the black and silver. Thanks.

    • @behindbarsmototouring898
      @behindbarsmototouring898 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sorry for the delay. I created a new channel and have been trying to get back to this one on occasio .
      I would definitely recommend these sliders. Theyre VERY solid, not hard to install. Okay, theyre not as difficult to install as they appear to be.
      And you can choose the color of the logo to match your bike.
      Congratulations on finding a silver VFR.

      @chestypuller4591 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Cool! thanks for the info on the sliders. I just ordered a set last night with the red text. Should look sweet against the black and silver. Next I'll do the engine case guards and then the swing arm protection. A lot of $ to drop for the full set of everything so, small steps. Ride safe brother!

    What will you use to put your topbox on the bike? On my bike I have one from Givi but that is putting my topbox a bit high and backwards where I've seen other connectors (not the right word) and than the topbox is close(r) to the seat. This looks way better so I'm thinking of replacing mine, but don't know which one I need to purchase.
    Thanks.
