- Sarah Palin has responded to her son Track punching his girlfriend in the face and threatening to kill himself with a gun to his head. By blaming Obama. "Former Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin suggested Wednesday that President Barack Obama was to blame for the arrest of her son Track on domestic violence charges.
Palin noted during a political rally in Tulsa that her 26-year-old son had served in Iraq. “My son, like so many others, they come back a bit different. They come back hardened,” she remarked in a video published by Right Wing Watch.
Palin said her son suffered from post-traumatic stress disorder, and that Obama had made his situation worse by allegedly disrespecting veterans.”*

I'm a former Army officer. Many veterans suffer from PTSD and I'm not saying that Track couldn't also have been affected. However, he was a sociopath before he ever entered the military. He was caught with 3 other boys trying to cut the brakes on school buses. Stop and think about that for a moment. That is NOT a prank. That's seriously fucked up. He was given the choice of jail time or military time. Yes, there are still some states that do that. If Palin is really concerned about his mental health from PTSD she has the money to get him help. As for her charge about Obama, it's ridiculous. President Obama has been very supportive of veterans and it was republicans who cut $1.6 billion from the funding for veterans. I respect President Obama for many reasons but especially because he does not use soldiers lives casually as political tools. Palin uses her own children as political props.
+jain thorne I can not agree with you more! I'm no expert on PTSD but as far as public knowledge is concerned Track spent his tour in the rear echelon and never saw any front line duty. Would that not make the diagnosis of PTSD unlikely? I don't question to belittle the men who come home traumatized for life, but I just question how likely PTSD would be from the rear echelon?

Speaking as a Marine veteran, who deals with PTSD every single day, and who has never harmed anyone who didn't try to hurt me first, I was not born with enough middle fingers to adequately express how insulted I feel by Sarah Palin's latest display of idiocy.

her son in 2009 cut the brake lines on a school bus. the court gave him a choice join up or jail. his unit did goto Iraq but they were not in a combat zone. His discharge papers clearly state he was NOT a combat vet. his papers are online.

Okay. So this lady has family brawls, a son with anger issues and a daughter having children out of wedlock....with two different men: yet, others are to blame? She needs to look in the mirror! PTSD is not a joke. Assault is not a joke. Mistreatment of veterans is not a joke. Sarah Palin is.

PTSD does not make one an abuser. It can make one hyper-vigilante and strike out from illogical fear (flight, fight or freeze).
But one does not punch your girlfriend in the face like that due to PTSD.
I love how republican "respect for the military" isn't actually caring or respecting our veterans but rather "keep supporting this war". We don't, we never have and it's been illegal from the beginning. If your son is having PTSD and suicidal tendencies, maybe you should seek help for him and quit endorsing policies that harm veterans like him and continuing to send them into wars where they have to commit atrocities against humanity.

Track was like this before he went into the military. He was not in combat. The reason he went into the military was he trouble he got into in high school. He did not cut brake lines, he let all the air out of the tires on the buses, smashed the mirrors etc. Before they did this he stole a bottle of booze from a store. The other kids have similar issues.

Considering the fact that her son served in Iraq for a year in 2008 when Bush was president, I'm pretty sure if he truly had PTSD, it would've affected him immediately once he came home, not 7 or 8 years later.

That's EXACTLY what I was saying. By linking someone who beats women to veterans with actual PTSD, she just disrespected all those soldiers MORE than every other politician put together..
Also, Track never saw any combat during the entire time in his ONE and only tour, where he just operated the back door of a helicopter a few times. He may have been mentally unstable, but PTSD had NOTHING to do with it.

The Palin family problem seems to be that everyone else is responsible for their problems. Palin points to Obama as her sons root cause, which is wrong since Bush's false pretense of searching for WMDs is the absolute root.
