This was bound to be said at some point, nostalgia is blinding and it keeps people from enjoying the new and only comparing it to the old. Your pokemon example was 10/10 and I was one of the ones who loved violet, I have a few complaints about tera raids being dumb but at the end of the day they are fun and thrilling. I feel like we should put aside nostalgia and just try and enjoy the games that come out and instead of finding the dumbest reasons to complain about it, we should focus on actual logical criticisms. Good video breadshow and looking forward to more!!!
while i don't think nostalgia is all bad (i really eat it up) , the over dependence is very bad. also im glad you brought up anime. hate the type of people who say they miss when anime was more niche. just as annoying as to when metalheads start hating a band just cause they started getting popular
It’s interesting how intergalactic used their nostalgic game titles as promo, when the people who made them no longer work for those studios. I platted the mentioned titles, and they’re only nostalgic because they’re good games that bring us back to good times in our life. If you didn’t like any parts of your childhood, you’re not gonna get nostalgic over it. If dustborn 2 comes out in 20 years, you’ll feel nostalgia, but you won’t buy it unless it’s good.
I wonder if this video was recommended to me because I'm really into the new YIIK, where nostalgia is a theme, and originality is an important meta narrative. And the game itself is both, appealing to nostalgia while creating something pretty unique.
It's funny how most of what you say about Pokemon might be true about YIIK, too. Most people initially hated it, probably because they thought of it as a sequel to earth bound, and it was too different. And now there was a FREE update, which was basically a completely new game.
I think it's the other way around. Their lack of creativity makes them do remakes. Their original stuff flops because it's bad. Original anime are doing great. Because they're still good. Hollywood and AAA gaming have no creativity or quality.
This is how I felt when twilight princess came out. I loved it so much and it’s my fav Zelda game. But everyone at the time hated it cuz they compared it to old Zelda games. I’m waiting for twilight princess to become nostalgia bait now. Watch it’s gonna become the newest “ classic” soon
I understood all the points but I don't really agree on the pokemon one. Yes some people are shitting on it bc of nostalgia. But many people shit on it bc the game just does not look like it was made in 2024. Its not about polish. The game looks and plays like it was made for the PS3. People hate bc Pokemon is the wealthiest franchise in the whole world and Indie games look and work better then Scarlet and Violet.
Remakes are imo okay but take Silent Hill 2 Remake. Its a different take on a classic, that has rhe same soul and love put into it as the original. It expands the original in all the right ways, while retaining what made it special. And people are like 'but original was better'. Okay? No, its a completely different game with same story, told in a different way. James is different in the remake, more dead inside and depressed, while original was just uncanny dissociation in a good way. I played SH2 in 2006, didnt cry at the end. I finished remake and cried my eyes out despite getting best ending possible because Luke Roberts gave amazing performance as James.
I still don't like the ugly art of the new top down zelda games. Link's Awakening looked better in two colors lol but this is at least a new concept, so that makes it better.
Scarlet and Violet is crap, it's not the glitches, it's the game, it's bad. It's got coop that barely does anything at all, lifeless story. I've played every single game in the series since before they even came out in America with Red and Blue thanks to my Japanese transfer student friend bringing a copy. Those were crap. Not only were they crap, but they came out right after the amazing Arceus game, which set a far higher bar for Pokemon games, they deserve far lower than a B. Sale in no way mean something is good. Homongenization is the biggest issue happening in present day. Making games simpler, making games interesting to larger groups of people and abandoning their fan bases. Aiming for the lowest hanging fruit is the best analogy for this. This game sold well because it's on switch.... that's it, that's why it beat the older ones, just like Sword and Sheild did, which is better than Scarlet and Violet, but not as good as many others. They've still continued the trend of removing features in theres recent gens as well as obviously not having all the pokemon as a lesser issue, imo, but it's crap, it's just not very good overall, especially with that amazing Arceus standing standing their making their game look like bottom of the bin garbage by comparison. Pokemon has relized on a lack of competition. Games llike SMT and Personal aren't appropriate for kids, Digimon has never invested the money into any attempt, and has always lacked any sort of cohesion in their games so people can return to a new one expecting to reasonably know what to expect out of the game design, but Arceus was real competition for pokemon, and it was from Nintendo themselves, and it's shown them badly needing to upgrade a lot more. I'd bet they did upgrade Scarlet and Violet a lot to try to deal with this, they obviously saw how much hype Arceus generated, that's likely why it's so much more glitchy that most pokemon games.
Going off the zelda thing. skyward sword is one of my least favorite zelda games. breath of the wild exists because of how they fumbled skyward sword. but you have kids who grew up in the 2010s being nostalgic for skyward sword saying it was their childhood and glazing the hell out of it and then shitting on BOTW for doing something new. i will never understand why people use nostalgia to not see issues in media. just cause they grew up with it, they can not see the actual issues with the game. is BOTW perfect? no, but i don't want them to completely backpaddle and go pure traditional either. there's a nice balance to make great games. and with out evolution we stay stagnant.
I think people like the prequels because the new trilogy is so very very bad... I don't think that's gonna happen again though, especially Last Jedi, it's such extreme nonsense garbage XD

I couldn’t have said it better ‼️ I think it’s really holding us back😭

No way this ain’t more popular! You’re so spot on about the nostalgia goggles many gamers have!

People make their mind without even playing game or watching movie.
Yeah, that 200 dollar alarm clock is excessive lol probably sells well too, far too many people with too much money.
Hi
Wassup‼️

Naruto was FAR worse for filler than Dragon Ball lol
