4:27 Matt. Please do me a favour and buy new seatbelt buckles. Welding changes the material properties of the steel and adds stress to the heat affected zone. For the cost of a seatbelt buckle, it’s a no brainer. Your life is worth far more.
The CF side panels I can take or leave, but the interior matching armrest and shift boot look way better in matching terra cotta. Also...nice Turbo wheels. Leave 'em.
@@jerehada I'm not going to say I'm completely immune, but there is propensity among us motorcycle and car guys to do things that improve neither functionality nor appearance. We often do them for the sake of change itself, and I have tried to catch myself when I get the urge.
Agreed. The CF stuff doesn't really fit with the terracotta interior. Kinda ricey, IMO. I would have saved my money. I like my interiors subtle, and the OEM Porsche interior is just fine the way it was delivered.
Passenger airbag stage 1 lower limit usually means the first inflator is open or shorted. I would access the airbag connector and test continuity across the loads (inflators). If your meter reads OL, then you know the inflator is done... needs an airbag module. If it's registers a reading, then I would move onto troubleshooting the airbag circuit. good work in this vid.
@@matt13ross I think the airbags themselves are two stage- so each airbag has two inflators each. First stage and second stage. You'd need to test both inflators on the passengers airbag. If one of them registers a reading and the other doesn't then you know the problem is the airbag assembly (module).
@@bandwagon240 Agreed. I've come across this during a routine wheel alignment. Was able hear the slightest hum from underneath the bumper. Client was overjoyed once notified.
The carbon fiber interior pieces look way out of place. Different colored alcantara, terracota leather, and carbon fiber. Too many different materials.
Hey Matt. Thanks for the video. I must say, there are not a lot of TH-camr's that actually work on their cars without gloves. Always nice to get your hands dirty on a project 😊 Get that E30 M3 done buddy 😅
For the air bag, move the passenger seat forward a little and see if that helps. The wiring harness gets stretched too much if the passenger seat is moved to far back. If the light doesn't go back off after moving the seat forward, you may have a broken wire in the harness. Somewhere on TH-cam, I watched the cause and repair, so try searching for that. If I find the video, I'll post it here for you.
If the numeric shifter is the same as my 991 you should be able to lower that knob assembly quite a bit. It’s a short shift kit by design. Satisfying to see everything coming together!
What a great project! And I for one do appreciate a TH-camr car guy actually finishing (really finishing) the build. I’ve given up on some others, but not you. Once again, te color combo is spectacular! The terracotta is rare but is one of my favorites! Classy but usable. Way to go Matt!!
i would have to agree with most. the clash of the grey with black carbon and terracotta is over whelming but this is your car. also your arm will stick to that arm rest and it will scratch so easy. also replace the belts. anytime a vehicle is in a wreck or has track use i would replace them. FIA mandates that. and mercedes benz i believe came up with the fuel cooler.
Dude you do amazing work, let’s be honest that wing is taking away a lot from what could be the cleanest buil out there. Also, interior bits are ghetto bub
Great job once again! Your personality shines through in each episode/ post. You definitely need to get in a higher platform having your own show…. You are amazing and I love seeing your projects. I am a proud owner of 3 Porsche myself and share the same enthusiasm. Keep up the great job. Enjoy your weekend.
Another great Porsche brought back to life guess this is why 70% + of all Porsches ever made are still on the road. You and the other Mat ( Armstrong) my favorite car builders. Bias cos love Porsches. 100k subs 👏👏.
I absolutely love your commentary in this video, must be one of the best ones I've seen 😂 keep it up Matt. Your car, your mods 💪🏻 following you all the way from Pretoria, South Africa!
The top hats do spin like that. In regards to softer springs, youve been driving around with PASM not working. When its unplugged like that it defaults to the stiffest damper settings. Now that its working the ride should be much better. No need for softer springs
Hello from Ireland again, Matt. You have done a great job with this Build, bro. There's still things to do but, give yourself some credit, and money, lol 😆. Great Knob, 🙏. Beautiful M3 Matt. An E30 M3 is Worth a fortune over here in Ireland bro. I never heard of a Fuel Cooler in my whole life. Wicked video again Matt🙏🙏👌👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Thanks for the upload. Nice touch with screwdriver grave marker. Thought you stop posting with that 11 day gap. I was jonesing for some content.keep them coming
I’ve seen cars that will disable the airbag if you have the tow hook connected but can’t say with any confidence if this one of them but it’s a simple test.
I had an airbag light… I can’t recall the code but one of the plugs to the seatbelt was loose, I actually thought that’s where you were going when you removed the passenger side panel… something to check anyway
Question on BMW LS swap; Did you have any vibration trouble. I did a 08 335 swap. I feel it through the entire car, occurs about 5-65. Usually occurs when you're in gear and if you depress the clutch it softens to nearly non existent.
Get the airbag wiring diagram test for powers and grounds. Also, I had a car before the connector wasn’t tight. I had to zip tie it and the light went away.
Your new shift knob was missing the transparent yellow ring that holds the boot around the base of the shifter. Did it come from Porsche like that? I bought the same one but it arrived assembled.
Do yourself a favor and lookup how to aim your lights. I believe morimoto has the guide online too. Spent big money for good lights get all them lumens out of them! Your Porsche looks 👌
Everyone has an opinion. Here is another. I liked the terracota boot on the shifter better. A 991 steering when would look nice. I have a 991 GTS and I thought I'd like all the alcantara and CF but I'd prefer leather in all honesty
You gotta lose the tow strap Matt, I`ve never seen one anywhere other than perhaps on a boy-racers Fiesta ST 😄Seriously following this project has been a joy just like the trailer & 996 vids. I can also understand the effort in making the vids while trying to do the work, perhaps this is partly the reason you`ll break 100K subscribers as your viewers realise what it takes to produce such entertaining content. Well done mate!
Preload on the front springs might not be properly set which is why you can rotate the coil. Also, you'll need to be sure to transfer the angular bearing, cup and insulator to that assembly. I can't tell by the video but it looks like one or more parts might be missing.
@@matt13ross If you have to take them apart anyway to install missing components, I would go with camber plates. I'm using Elephant racing on mine, and everything I transferred over (cups, insulators and angular bearings) are factory PORSCHE.

U should find carbon or black seat backs instead of the silver ones it will tie in very well sick build tho just needs a ducktail 😅

Completely agree. The metal is now brittle as it hasn’t been heat treated.

The side panels hurt. I’d leave all terracotta except alcantara.

Agree with you guys. That terra cotta interior is special. All that black trim mutes the effect. (I hope I used "effect" correctly.)
