Su-30MKI is the backbone of IAF & it's quite an important aircraft for India since it can carry multiple weapons & can provide air superiority like the F-15EX. We are already developing the Astra BVR series & later the IIR one too, so IAF truly needs to upgrade these aircrafts into 4.5G+. Good to know about indigenised upgrade process of its engines😊

Considering the F414 TOT and joint collaboration with Safran if everything goes correctly the added acquired knowledge from these projects and the knowledge gained during Kaveri engine development we can really improve it probably even better than Russia's AL41 maybe
Su-30MKI needs a modern digital cockpit, AESA radar, and Astra Mk2 in numbers in the next 3 years. Su-30MKI with its huge radar cross section is visible from 100's of kms and targeted by PL-15E from greater range compared to R77-1 or Astra Mk1. It desperately needs a 160km range missile. It also needs a higher thrust engine, otherwise lack of thrust will reduce its avionics and flight performance.
What about airframe life? F-15 EX is a new airframe not upgraded. We don't own the IP to produce additional airframes plus the assembly lines are closed.
This Indian upgradation of Russian engines should have started earlier. Better late than never. Since HAL has been making russian engines, it is familiar with their technology. So even without russian help this process could have been started earlier. Compared with developing a new engine from scratch, upgradation of existing engines is easier given that we had now experience of Kaveri.

It will require a long development cycle. Rather, small improvements especially in the metallurgy of SCBs and adding new TBCs will take much less time, money, resources. Also we don't need an engine in that category. If my memory serves me right the co developed engine from AMCA MK2 programme will have room for 20% thrust upgradation so we will a get a derived engine for the upcoming Air Dominance Fighters (successor of Su 30 mki). So making a new engine for Super MKI doesn't make sense
Not much CNT-Ceramic RAM skins are under dev (in US, China) which can provide durable stealth sheath while also increasing airframe strength Surface composites can also be applied But without stealth shaping & IWB don't think will make much difference

Bhai, I respect your commitment to providing defense news, but some of these news stories are outright laughable. We haven't been able to develop a single capable engine in 40 years, and now you're telling me that we will replace Sukhoi engines with an indigenous engine? If we ever manage to develop our own capable engines, Sukhoi would be long gone by then.
Kaveri engine works though, and is stable enough now that it can be used. Also the thrust produced is not that far off of ge404. But one of the biggest reasons it's not used in Tejas is over ambitious timelines regarding when engine will be ready, significantly less RnD budget, and the requirements and specs for Tejas revised by IAF so many times since it's development started in 90s Senior GTRE official Ms Thomas(can't remember full name) stated that we are ready to fly Tejas using Kaveri, and they have been asking to be provided with Tejas, mig29 etc for the testing, but haven't received the response from IAF yet. So even if we don't get any more engines from US, Tejas will still fly. And kaveri production is starting soon to be used in ghatak ucav. At least something will fly using kaveri

Recently Russian SU30 using its 3 Numbers of Khabini Electronic suite baffled American F35 which need to switch on & off its radar frequently

It is better to upgrade half of them with new engines from Russia and when Indian engine is developed upgrade the rest with that,rather than pinning hope on an engine that is not available in reality.Making Su 30 upgrade only with Indian engine looks like a way to kill off the aircraft.

WS-10 engine is based on some American engine, not on Russian stuff.
Ws15 is based on American engine.

Just a thought. Would the F15EX engine be compatible with SU30 since both belong to same class. Why not buy those engines off the shelf from the OEM just like F414.

Bhai, I respect your commitment to providing defense news, but some of these news stories are outright laughable. We haven't been able to develop a single capable engine in 40 years, and now you're telling me that we will replace Sukhoi engines with an indigenous engine? If we ever manage to develop our own capable engines, Sukhoi would be long gone by then.
Kaveri engine works though, and is stable enough now that it can be used. Also the thrust produced is not that far off of ge404. But one of the biggest reasons it's not used in Tejas is over ambitious timelines regarding when engine will be ready, significantly less RnD budget, and the requirements and specs for Tejas revised by IAF so many times since it's development started in 90s
Senior GTRE official Ms Thomas(can't remember full name) stated that we are ready to fly Tejas using Kaveri, and they have been asking to be provided with Tejas, mig29 etc for the testing, but haven't received the response from IAF yet.
So even if we don't get any more engines from US, Tejas will still fly. And kaveri production is starting soon to be used in ghatak ucav. At least something will fly using kaveri
