Awesome tutorial, Tony. I had a question - at 9:33 - you substitute F and Eb in the LH for what would nominally be a Cm - it sounds great - why does that work there?
David Graves long answer, are you ready? I was thinking F7. The top notes if F7 are C and Eb and if you ad the 9th, (G) you get Cm. Next, the F7 chord naturally follows the C chord. Also, in 'functional harmony ' the bVII7 chord usually occurs between the IVm chord and the I chord - though the C chord is a major IV not a IVm. It sounds like blues. A final reason might be that the top part of an F9 chord is Am7b5 which in the world of "negative harmony' is the inverse of the dominant chord that leads to G, the I chord
Thanks for bringin that up. I have neglected this approache for some time. Easy but very effectful and if u know how the spice up the changes it sounds awsome as your version of this tune.
