I just starting working for Rovers North. I came from a back ground our European cars. After 1 month there and I already have a 1978 lightweight project in my garage. These little trucks are so amazing. I Look forward to following your chanel and learning a thing or two along the way.
@@mikesandone2652 Had an ex military Series 3 109" that had the heavy duty chassis, very similar to the 1 Ton with extended shackles and bolt on gearbox crossmember, l changed the rims to 1 Ton versions with Firestone 750/16 SAT tires, it really suited the truck, sold it to a friend who took out the 2.25 gas engine and installed a 2.8 litre version of the Rover 2.25, gave it V8 performance without any chassis/ bulkhead changes.
You guys build Land Rover's to a beautiful standard to be fair. So this build will every bit as entertaining and good to watch! As for Land Rover's being perfect, well having owned 50 of them from basic Series 2's right through to Range Rover's I can say with honesty, they never left the factory perfect! And to be fair to Land Rover, they were designed as workhorses and not car's so didn't need to be.
I had a '70 88” which as you say I would drive off in 2nd. So removed those diffs (they were actually 4.3’s someone had fitted) and I fitted 3.9's. the gear spread was much better with these gears. Although I was running a lower revving higher torque Holden 202" motor. I got the speedo upto 74mph one day. Very interested to see how you go with the 2.25 and 3.75's
I had 3.9:1 diffs in my IIA and hill starts were a nightmare. Ended up going back to the 4.7:1 and putting the overdrive back in. Be interested to see how you go with 3.75:1.
Technically amazing - but Mike - in a 14mins. video we spent 13mins. of it looking at your face!! No offence - but I'm sure that most of us would rather look at the truck!

You look always on your display of your camera, not into the camera direct :-) What will break, when you use all parts of the axles in HD ? At the original halfshafts will break, but in the HD version ?
New chassis, new bulkhead "triggers broom" 😂 you know what I mean dave ha ha ha

Great work guys! What kind of engine are you going to use, have you restored a 6 cylinder ?

How do I get a series 3 Land Rover from your shop and what will be the cost ?

Hey guys, great work. Is there a reason you didn’t paint the chassis for extra protection?
It's galvanised, no extra protection needed.
yes does not need any addition protection. Plus we love the look of the bare galvy
Hello Mike, if you go completely with brand new galvanized chassis, what about the chassis registration number here?
Saludos

Haha, you would have to be doing something stupid to break an Ashcroft HD half shaft with 7.50 16s, a 2.25 engine and open diffs.
@@mikesandone2652 everything is possible ;-)
And the torque of the 2 1/4 ltr motor is very strong :-)
@@Scooterboys that's true. I guess I'll let you know if I break one!
@@mikesandone2652 What would it be if you would listen to the costs at the end of the project ?
@@Scooterboys not sure what your question is.
Just for this is $20750chassi and axel 😅
