The protagonists are superhumans who rely on a trump card (the magic potion/metal slug) to always one-man their way through waves and waves of the *same* incompetent soldiers, who always employ the *same* half-baked and fruitless tactics, and are led by a caricature of an actual dictator (Julius Caesar/Morden). I'm probably missing some things but this is a good start Edit: I also think it should go battlefield style and have the ability for the player to call in allied units to help fight large waves of enemy forces
It's not that bad as first attempt. Camera management is terrible, cutscenes are too static and few animations should have been faster, like the item acquiring ones that are too slow and not fitting the mood. Besides this it looks as a entertaining game, one that I would gladly play and it's always Metal Slug.
This is basically the Sonic 06 of the Metal Slug serie -It came in 2006 -The game name is Metal Slug (like how Sonic 06 is basically Sonic The Hedgehog) -It's an anniversary title (10 years of Metal Slug) -Is a 3D game from a serie that began in 2D -The game focuses more on story (with cheesy cutscenes and dub) than gameplay -The camera is awful -The music is the only good thing about these games -And finally the comapies made them because they were too faithful for their respective franchises
I'm just gonna say this so please don't criticize me for this. While I appreciate SNK tried something new, it's an incredibly flawed game. It feels like Sonic 06 in a way but at least with those 2 games, they have some good qualities like the music but still very flawed. They are not the absolute worst but they certainly deserve better. If they ever want to make another Metal Slug 3D game, make the controls less clunky, better voice acting, a decent story, high quality graphics, and the charm that the series is known. You can still have the Garage shop but why not add more to the game? How bout switching soldiers if one soldier is low on health, another can take their place. Borrow traits from MS 6 like Marco's handgun deals more damage, Eri can aim her grenades better, etc. Have the cover system so that you don't get yourself killed. Ideas like that CAN work, they just need to try, that's all. Or just stick to 2D.
The voice acting dialogue is about on par with RE Directors Cut still entertaining enough to consider a playthrough of it myself if I bought a copy of it online off PlayAsia would it be playable on my PS2 without having to mod the console?
The cutscenes are cringe to the max. The setup for movement and stuff looks fun. The initial AI challenges are AWFUL (they have to melee and stand there doing nothing). Needs more dakka or to drop the autoaim.

I don't see the issue, this game is clearly 10/10. It's rare we get such hot garbage from an otherwise well esteemed franchise, it's almost like it is a parody, like it's meant to be so bad that it's good.
This game is clearly not very good but I can't bring myself to hate it since you can tell they were clearly trying to emulate what makes metal slug the series that it is into 3D. But it's just one of those cases where it was better left in 2D.
This doesn’t look as good as the rest of the 2D games in the series but Holy Shit if this wasn’t a spirited attempt to bring it into the third dimension. This reminds me an awful lot like Megaman Legends, doesn’t translate well to 3D but is as fucking fun as anything… … … Why haven’t they released Megaman Legends on PSN. I need to find my copy of Tron Bonne.
The people talks just bad thing about this game. Personally im not see it really bad. im see many problems. The level design, the awkward menus, the camera, the auto targeting system, the voices, etc. But, with all this problems, the game concept itself, on fact it works. The gameplay looks pretty solid. It's not the sunken ship at level of sonic games that all the world says. To make it an funtionaly game, is necesary restructure it entirely. Editing the menus to make it more "organics", replacing the soundtrack including voices, adjusting the cameras, and finishing the translation to english. Im realise is not a good Metal Slug game, but i dont know why the people says that its irreparable.
This game strongly reminds me of Lone Soldier of ps1. I played that game again last week and I cracked up laughing. But despite people call it bad, suck, worst or else, if you enjoy it, those words would be invalid. Including mmx7
what makes me love this game is that it took tons of bullets using any guns to take down Vehicles, the game is detailed enough even if it has bad reviews atleast the game itself is fun.
Look alright. Only if the controls were easier and the camera movement more smoother and responsive. I wonder if SNK will ever try to do another 3D Metal Slug game?
ikagura So you mean my Tales of Zestiria I bought just then along with Tales of Berseria should stay in 2D as well right? Like in the Tales of Eternia for PSP?
ikagura Also, God Eater Resurrection and God Eater 2 Rage Burst I bought from Steam as well playing them like the classy Metal Slug arcade style as well. Right?
If it had gotten a domestic release, and the camera wasn't so erratically all over the place, I think it would've been a decent game worth owning. Granted very few games can even think about touching the majesty that is Metal Slug 3, let alone this entry in the franchise, but it still could've been a worthwhile title. It's a shame SNK didn't seem to believe in it themselves.
I know I’ll get hated for this... There was a time where I’ve meet these video game and trading cards merchants , whom are gamers themselves and mentioned how they played Metal Slug in their gaming consoles. When they mentioned that they played the entire series, I asked them, “Did you play Metal Slug 3D?” And they were like “There was a Metal Slug game in 3D?” Which I responded “Yes and if you haven’t the game that means you didn’t played the entire series.” You can say they’re quite interested and impressed after I showed them the intro of this game.
Part of the appeal of Metal Slug are the funny and impossibly detailed animations. If you take them away something is lost.
Plus, they made using the metal slug tank awkward to control and clumsy as heck, added a sniper rifle that has no place in run-&-gun shooters, and really wooden voice performances.

This looks fun. I never knew Metal Slug had a 3d game.
It's okay I guess. By 2D-to-3D game standards, it's not Super Mario 64, but it's certainly better than that one Final Fight game.
Metal Slug should stay 2D
@@ikagura nah, maybe retain side scrolling, but keep the 3D graphics, just like the Metroid II remake for the Nintendo 3DS.
No, gorgeous 2D sprites > wierd low poly 3D models
@@ikagura 2d sprites do look really good in most games but I do agree metal slug should go 3d . I mean not like this better
Never heard of this game, now I know why.
I always wondered: who's the dude making the voice?
This is basically the Sonic 06 of the Metal Slug serie
-It came in 2006
-The game name is Metal Slug (like how Sonic 06 is basically Sonic The Hedgehog)
-It's an anniversary title (10 years of Metal Slug)
-Is a 3D game from a serie that began in 2D
-The game focuses more on story (with cheesy cutscenes and dub) than gameplay
-The camera is awful
-The music is the only good thing about these games
-And finally the comapies made them because they were too faithful for their respective franchises
Metal Slug 3D = Sonic the Hedgehog 2006
Wow, the voice acting is so wooden it's painful. Still I wouldn't mind seeing a 3d Metal Slug game using the Lost Planet engine.
Sonic 2006 should have never existed
Silver: IT'S NO USE!!
The voice acting dialogue is about on par with RE Directors Cut still entertaining enough to consider a playthrough of it myself if I bought a copy of it online off PlayAsia would it be playable on my PS2 without having to mod the console?
Nice video though I'm a little annoyed how the Iron Lizard and the Laser Gun weren't used at all and I was wondering how they even functioned
I CANNOT believe this game exists. I....oh my god. What an abomination. What were they thinking?
And the sad was on its 10 year anniversary.
At least Metal Slug Anthology the same year. So a neutral?
Nope. It's positive. This is a change of pace from the usual 2D SNK used to do.
The cutscenes are cringe to the max. The setup for movement and stuff looks fun. The initial AI challenges are AWFUL (they have to melee and stand there doing nothing). Needs more dakka or to drop the autoaim.
***** Manual aim will not make the game more exciting. More dakka would also remove the excitement of the game in exchange for frustration.
sebastian do you happen to
1: own an xbox one/playstation 4 and play on them all the time
2:cod is your favourite game series
3:judge games by if they are 3d or have good graphics (ugh i hate saying that word)
4:live in america and complain about dark soul's difficulty
if you said yes to all of these questions you are a filfy console casual (no offense)
if you answered yes to 3 then go play outside for once
if you answered 2 you are slightly irritating
if you said yes to 1 you are either normal or just leaving high school
if you said yes to none congrats you are not a scumbag
now watch what you say on the net
Hey tarma wake up it's mission time 🙂
Several minutes playing: *the player never had a single death*
The one I like in 3D
Slug Customization!
Painting Black on my Slug XD
2:55:07 is that Akira reference?
I don't see the issue, this game is clearly 10/10. It's rare we get such hot garbage from an otherwise well esteemed franchise, it's almost like it is a parody, like it's meant to be so bad that it's good.
Metal Slug like Earthworm Jim, only in 2D.
Agreed
dat camera...
jo go changes on the automatic form
This game is clearly not very good but I can't bring myself to hate it since you can tell they were clearly trying to emulate what makes metal slug the series that it is into 3D. But it's just one of those cases where it was better left in 2D.

Rebel soldier? But different in this color? Its color blue not green
I think it's an ally soldier, not a rebel. Hence the color.
This doesn’t look as good as the rest of the 2D games in the series but Holy Shit if this wasn’t a spirited attempt to bring it into the third dimension. This reminds me an awful lot like Megaman Legends, doesn’t translate well to 3D but is as fucking fun as anything…
…
… Why haven’t they released Megaman Legends on PSN. I need to find my copy of Tron Bonne.
Megaman Legends is very good imo
Some franchise should stay in 2D
This series will not meant to be played in 3d
I love this Game so much it’s so amazing when I was young I played in 2011
I had the same with Megaman X7, guess what, it was still fun.
Why did you ditch your Slug at 31:38?
Angel IV Esguerra because in the 3d world it handles like shit to the tank controls.
The characters look horrible yet I want to play this! I never even knew this game existed
are you kidding?
i mean, 20 ads in one video??
A "3-hour video"
Fuck Google and TH-cam
You know what's a good 3D Metal Slug game?
Action Doom.
Maybe a 2.5D metal slug would be great!
Look alright.
Only if the controls were easier and the camera movement more smoother and responsive.
I wonder if SNK will ever try to do another 3D Metal Slug game?
Why the fuck they thought is a good idea to make a 2D game to 3D, it will never work. God the animation in the original series is so good !
is not that bad, and the transition from 2d to 3d has worked on other franchised so maybe they wanted to do it as well, but didnt go as they espected
11:52
Heck face you are, allen
Marco's thoughts on the ultimate metal slug was funny
Remember kids, 2D is always the best
ikagura
So you mean my Tales of Zestiria I bought just then along with Tales of Berseria should stay in 2D as well right? Like in the Tales of Eternia for PSP?
ikagura
Also, God Eater Resurrection and God Eater 2 Rage Burst I bought from Steam as well playing them like the classy Metal Slug arcade style as well. Right?
I dunno about these games but 2D graphims always age better than 3D
@@KazenoVincent Tales of Phantasia is still better.
Was this released in the states? And if this was a franchise how come there was no movie or tv series or books of this?
If it had gotten a domestic release, and the camera wasn't so erratically all over the place, I think it would've been a decent game worth owning. Granted very few games can even think about touching the majesty that is Metal Slug 3, let alone this entry in the franchise, but it still could've been a worthwhile title. It's a shame SNK didn't seem to believe in it themselves.
Metal Slug like Contra, only in 2D.
Martinoz O Castlevania too but CV on PS2 was great in my option.
I know I’ll get hated for this...
There was a time where I’ve meet these video game and trading cards merchants , whom are gamers themselves and mentioned how they played Metal Slug in their gaming consoles. When they mentioned that they played the entire series, I asked them, “Did you play Metal Slug 3D?” And they were like “There was a Metal Slug game in 3D?” Which I responded “Yes and if you haven’t the game that means you didn’t played the entire series.” You can say they’re quite interested and impressed
after I showed them the intro of this game.
Why is the voices are English but the game is Japanese
beast gamer22 LOGIC
When i was a kid i remember this one differently....
This is weird
But music slaps, because Metal Slug
A la ve4ga las críticas, ¡lanzalo en el resto del mundo!!
People saying the game was bad didn't played it. It was quite fun.
I love this game.
The extended cutscenes reminds me of Metal Gear Solid series.
I miss my game :(
Metal Slug THREE DEE?!! A fantasy come true...
1:00:35
*Me:* This is a great opportunity for the Iron Lizard
*OP: Shoots in everything else*
for those who think Metal Slug 4 is the black sheep of the family...
Graphics and cutscenes reminds me with Sonic Adventure
THE BEST METAL SLUG
I want a remaster or a remake of this Metal Slug for ps4 and ps5
At least final boss theme was splendid.
