I am excited that frost is gonna be so viable in SL I am currently main specing frost and just love the play style so I am glad I won't have to change.
Lisa Keefe Thanks for the kind response! Honestly, there is still a lot of tuning to be done, so try not to worry about what covenant to pick yet. That is something that will mostly be figured out in the next month! All we can really do until tuning happens is sit back and hope it ends well haha
I've generally found with the start of "most" expansions from memory, that frost has always started of super strong early raid tiers, then arcane and eventually fire takes over as the "end of tier spec". Let's hope its all fine tuned and working seeing as its being released in under 2 months time
I don't mind Mirror of Torment being our ability choice but I do have questions about it. Do stuns, interrupts, and CC from teammates affect the ability of your Mirror of Torment from procc'ing? Also, is Mirror of Torment something your teammates can clearly identify so they know to interrupt, stun, or CC another target?
Semi Definitely! If something can’t execute abilities it will not proc :( That includes if the enemy is interrupted or stunned. At the moment, I believe your teammates will be able to see the animation of the mirrors on the enemy, but that is a bit subtle. More than likely your teammates would need a weakaura / nameplate addon to specifically notice that. Another solution that I will probably use (if this goes live) is to just manually mark the enemy or call out in discord which specific enemy not to stun/interrupt.
@@hudsonhoch -- Sounds good. This is something we definitely have to make the whole mythic plus community aware of. We don't need people unintentionally lowering our damage. :P
I just hope something else is viable on that row sometimes. Like if you have to fight the first boss in Temple of Sethraliss, splitting Ice is such a detriment. Blizzard may not do enough damage for Freezing Rain to be good but if you use the Ice Lance Conduit, Blizzard Conduit and Mirrors of Torment conduit, it may be viable. Comet Storm just doesn't interact with any ability at all so it isn't interesting.
@@hudsonhoch -- I asked a mage who had beta access to test freezing rain because he was testing splitting ice while doing legendary tests. Splitting Ice is obviously a cleave talent is what I was thinking. Splitting Ice tested above Freezing Rain. That just doesn't make any sense. I think Freezing rain was adjusted based on the power of the Azerite traits White Out and Stacked Ice. I really believe we should campaign for a Freezing Rain improvement in the forums. We can't have a 1 talent row. The change could come in 3 forms. Just a buff to blizzard damage, but we probably don't want that because they may cap the targets if blizzard does too much damage. The 2nd and 3rd options are to just bake either White Out or Stacked Ice into the Freezing Rain talent. There is no reason for Splitting Ice to be the highest single target talent in the row unless the mage was doing a bad rotation on the test dummy.

In multitarget, especially when a lot of enemies are being added, splitting ice doesn’t scale as well as freezing rain. I anticipate freezing rain to be taken in mythic plus most weeks especially with the frozen orb legendaries and the blizzard conduit. I haven’t been able to test exactly what amount of enemies are needed for freezing rain to be a dmg increase over splitting ice, but it would be reasonable to assume that maybe at 4 enemies freezing rain will pull ahead. I think with that in mind the two talents are mostly balanced, with the last selection in that row needing a redesign, Comet Storm. I think we will actually see a lot of play with both talents this tier. I’d presume more splitting ice in Raid and Freezing Rain in m+. I don’t believe they would need to change the tuning for ST on Splitting Ice much as I personally do not enjoy casting blizzard on ST and that would have anti-synergy with the frozen orb legendary in a weird way.
Grizzly Icescicle ability makes Frozen Nova not break from your allies' damage. you get to Ice lance for the full duration. Freezing Winds looks amazing, though it's only known drop location urrrgggg... Sire Denathrius

Semi freezing rain could definitely see some play in m+ especially since blizzard is uncapped and can do extra dmg with the blizzard conduit
