Where do you live? I leave in the west coast of Florida and they're everywhere, especially when you throw food they swarm the area. Always entertainment to watch them catch food in the air
Love the way gulls talk to each other. Currently watching nesting gulls on a neighbour’s chimney - 4th year. They are the most wonderfully attentive parents, taking it in turns to fetch food and sit, and staying close to each other.
Animal Fact Files We feel we are 😊 My daughter and I have a camera by the upstairs window to capture them as they grow. They are sitting at the moment, but it will be soon they hatch out. The fun will be seeing who can spot a chick first, then to see how many there are. The first year there was only one (we think another may have fallen early). The second year there was two. That was great as we could recognise them. Last year there was 3 & watching them run around the really sloping roof was sometimes heart-in-mouth (especially when one went on the other side so we didn’t see it for days & thought it had fallen - eventually it reappeared thank goodness! 😄) It’s been amazing to see. And now we put water out for them as they get so hot and panting in the sun. They come over & drink from it often. We call the male Steven Seagull 😉😄
Oh watching them run around on the roof would be stress inducing for me! I can completely relate. That is such a wonderful experience you all can share together. I hope this year's brood is just as fun! Also that name is the best!!!
I like gulls even though they wake me up at 5 am . Hey who needs an alarm when you have gulls . Iv been hand feeding one for years . There actually quite smart birds. Far from stupid I assure you

I like to feed these birds. In Des Moines WA they will take the food right from my hand. There are a lot of them on the beach there. They look sad when you run out of food.
Seagulls are a top 5 bird. If you spend some time on a beach day with a nice breeze, you can teach them to "hover" and take pieces of food from your hand while your friends yell at you.
The California gull is the state bird of utah. And is often considered sacred her in utah. Which is amazing considering we are over 700 miles away from the ocean

A lot of people do seem to hate seagulls, but i actually like them. I guess it's because i've never had a bad experience with them like having food snatched out of my hands.
One correction; it's not because of us that there are gulls inland. More than have the species are inland nesters and some populations of some species live their entire lives without seeing fresh water. It is a common misconception to think that they are marine birds. While some species do stay near the coast, only a small handful of species are truly pelagic. In fact, unlike other truly pelagic birds, if given a choice, gulls actually prefer freshwater over saltwater. Also, the larger gulls aren't just scavengers, they are also predators and will kill and eat other birds and small mammals.
They get into dead animals to eat them and naturally seagulls will be covered in filth. My dad works on the beach and sees them all the time, which he refers to them as flying rats. But even rats are found cute and cuddly (the clean ones lol).
The seagull is my favourite animal in the world. They are loud and can be annoying, but they have inhabited this planet for over 30 million years. They are very clever, and are a pleasure to befriend! Try it.

You know I love these birds. I remember going to the beach and throwing some bread I didn't want. A gull then just flew by and caught it in mid air.
Oh I bet that was awesome to see!
We couldn't stop laughing until we got home.

Some of my favourite birds. Love their calls and how they generally aren't afraid of people.

Also they steal your food too also they’re was one incident where a seagull tried to eat a Chihuahua
They're rats with wings and I'm glad they're not bigger because they would be eating people too.

These birds are exactly like humans. Smart, cruel and will eat anything.
