    Fun video! We just spent 2 weeks in Rapid City. Our favorite was Crazy Horse. Too many just drive by and don't pay to go in. It is definitely worth the price to check out the museum and visitors' center. The story of Crazy Horse is AMAZING! We paid for the private tour to the top of Crazy Horse, and it's been our favorite splurge on our trip this year.

    We were in South Dakota in 2022. We stayed in great park in Hermosa (Heartland RV) which was a great basecamp for the area. Drove the Needles Highway and had the same concerns you guys did. Pulled the mirrors in when we went through. So much to do there we missed some things so we were back there in June/July of this year and base camped in Spearfish.

    We went through the needles with our Roadtrek couple weeks ago, no problem but I did pull in the drivers side mirror on 16 which is really narrow so I wouldn't smack a mirror with oncoming traffic. We stayed at Rafter J Bar in Hill City, Sylvan Lake and even Legon Lake for one night and usually eat at the Alpine Inn. Hiked up Harney/Black Elk Peak, it's a 4-5 hour hike and the view at the top is spectacular. Then we went to Spearfish for a couple days and rode our tandem bike up Spearfish canyon which is gorgeous, even got stopped by mtn goats on the road on our way down. Take care

    Yes! Did SD last year and stayed at the KOA in Hill City! We rented the side by sides and it was fun running on the trails. It was so amazing there! We did crazy horse that was cool. We did some shopping where they have those zip-lines are, I think Iron Mtn? They had some gold panning too! SD was a lot of fun

    That KOA is such a 'grand central station' it was a letdown despite the main & many associate facilities on the grounds. Rained on us a bunch & left big mudpuddles in ours & many of sites. The cost is off the Richter scale as well.

    Numerous trips on Needles but riding my Harley, no way in my F250 for that trail. I have really enjoyed watching your videos and commend your ability to stand tall during those rough times with repairs. Great work with cameras and editing, some of the best I have seen over the years. I have noticed something unique and possibly the best ever, your 'wedding rings' ... perhaps I may be wrong, if not, just WOW!

    • @MidlifeDetour
      @MidlifeDetour  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thank you for your very kind words! Ryan works pretty hard and he is the talented one and enjoys editing so much! YES, we have each other’s initials on the ring finger 😊 almost 28 years STRONG! 😊 I imagine that road on a Harley would be incredible! Did you take it on Iron Mountain?

    • @dondavis1203
      @dondavis1203 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes, I have also ridden Iron Mountain on my Harley and had a great time in the area. At one time was a yearly trip on the Harley. I now flat tow my rigged-out Jeep Rubicon behind a 28' Entegra Class C motorhome to all states west and north of Texas. I have driven the Lolo Pass through Idaho and love that drive. 60 miles or so easing downhill crossing the river numerous times, beautiful country. After watching your video of north Idaho, I will be visiting that area when the weather allows next year. The best to y'all, such a wonderful fun couple to follow on YT.

    There's still lots to do in the Black Hills. Those pretty dogs! There is "Bear Country U.S.A" in Rapid City, Spearfish Canyon in Spearfish is a beautiful ride. Deadwood is a fine place and you can visit the graves of Wild Bill Hickok & Calamity Jane. Just W of there is Sturgis, (if you want to see that). Devils tower just across the line into WY is a must. Down south below Custer is Custer State Park that leads right in to Wind Cave State Park, both are very beautiful. Enjoy your break!!

    What rack setup are you using for your kayaks?

    • @MidlifeDetour
      @MidlifeDetour  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      We are using the Thule system. Is isn’t inexpensive but has been excellent and those Kayaks have rode up there for close to 50k miles without issue. The parts we used for our Ford are on our website midlifedetour.us
      The “fit kit” is vehicle specific.
      Thanks for hanging out with us!
