Personally, Lain will never fit in any other time except 2000s since of its theme... Early cyberspace and how did people imagined it, the internet scape and etc. I think it's plot works only with the proper decorations and the period of time where it's telling the story- I guess i said a lot of nonsense or gibberish thoughts, but Lain will never work out nowadays and not just by it's themselves but by any other factors... I really love the series and wish there could be some extra ova to answer the questions from a lot of episodes, but here we are.

If this were to show up in a Snes RPG it almost certainly shows up in the 11th hour when everything seems lost, and maybe you've even just lost the final fight, but the screen hangs for a moment before going to game over, and then one of the party members hobbles into a kneel as the camera cuts and pans across every place the party has visited as you see the characters you've met on your journey living their lives unaware of the danger before them. The party member stands up, and their H.P. goes into the negatives, but the good news is that there's no longer a lower limit. Bad news? This is a last ditch effort, and as the rest of the party stands up, though they're going to finish this fight, the cost is going to be heavy. But to save their friends they made along the way, no cost is too high to pay.
I don't know what's up with the Lain recommendations, but I'm all for it. This song & anime holds a special place for me, so thank you uploader & algorithm.
I want this in an SNES bootleg game of Lain. I want to play it back to back with SNES Slayers. Lina Inverse and Lain share the same letters in their english games and that's blessed. ✨✨❤️✨✨
Interesting choice using the oot soundfont and not a snes or gba soundfont, payed off I think tho. Sounds like that era of lost media that vaporwave was spawned from. You should check out my soundcloud, I've got a couple songs playing with samples from majora's mask mostly
