Do you find the mixer section has limited overhead? Some patches have noticeable distortion that is alleviated by reducing each oscillator's volume in the mixer. I also find the output over the line out is fairly low. Is this just me? Otherwise, this synth is amazing! I have the 49 key and ordered the 61 key from you guys! Very excited about the SDK too.
The Prologue 8 does support 2 timbre, but with no physical controls. You have to menu dive to set it up, but it does work in the same ways. Just less convenient than on the 16 model.
Hi Elliott. You're half right. MIDI Notes for each Layer (or Split) are all on the same MIDI Channel. But... you can choose a second MIDI Channel for for the Sub's Control Change Messages in the Global section. One workaround is to use Split and then use MIDI Notes in each Key Range to play them separately. -_Daniel_
Can the layers on the Korg Prologue be routed to separate outputs? For instance, could I run one layer out of the left output and the other layer out of the right output?
Hi Chris. If I remember correctly, you can pan layers all the way to hard-left and hard-right, so that shouldn’t be a problem. But you probably can't use any effect types that would spread a hard-panned layer across both outputs.
Can you control an external synth with main or sub part partially, so that local can be on/off for user presets? Can you store midi assingments on user preset level? Is it like 2-part multitimbral?
Hello! You cannot control the main and sub oscillators independently of one another, but this synth is two-part multitimbral. In addition to single-timbre mode, Prologue features three dual-timbre modes for combining sounds. Split mode allows you to assign two different sounds to two different sections of the keyboard, while Layer mode allows you to play two sounds simultaneously across the entire keyboard. Crossfade mode offers even more performance potential, basically combining the two modes to create a smooth sonic transition between zones on the keyboard. Regarding MIDI implementation and presets, the Prologue stores MIDI settings Globally. But as far as I can see, there are no MIDI settings that can be saved with a user preset. Hi John. I'm not completely sure of your question, so I'll try to answer all possibilities. The Split (Timbre Type) is used in the very first sound of the video. The Split feature is the third position of the Timbre Type switch. The Split was set to Middle C for that preset. The Split Point is set in the Edit Mode, Button 3 (TIMBRE). Hope one of those is your answer. -_Daniel_
@@sweetwater can you confirm that by splitting you devote half the voices to each split? I want to use left hand for monophonic bass. I would want at least five voices for the right split. Would that mean I would need the prologue 16?
Answered my own question. Indeed the prologue 8 is 4+4 and prologue 16 is 8+8 when split. That's useful for playing two different timbres with chords in each hand, but I wish you could assign one split to monophonic while the rest of the range took advantage of all other voices .
The best sounds I have heard out of this machine so far.
Wow, thank you, Weird Music. You probably wouldn't have liked my performance as much if your name was Elevator Music. Thanks for watching!
Love these short tutorials, I've got a 16-voice on the way and I can't wait to mess with it!
Great stuff. Thank you.

I hear it too. I'd also like an answer to this.
On both synths 8 or 16, is like having 2 separated instruments either 4 to 8 voices each on split mode and use it in different midi channels? Thanks
Love this demo. Are these 2 timbre controls available on the 8 voice model? or only on the 16? Thanks
Hi Power Quip. The Main and Sub controls are only found on the 16-voice version of the Prologue. Thanks for watching!

How do I send each layer to different midi channels? Can't find a way unlike my Rev2. It seems it isn't Bi-timbral when it comes to MIDI.
