I was a teenager during the 90s and I love that they added the highlighted hair around Nikki’s face..so accurate, so many girls had that lol. These two are so pretty!
I was a teen in the 90s. The technology back then seems so ancient now. No cell phones, typewriter classes and that old dial up sound. Brings back memories!😅 I even had a phone like Courtney has. I remember once a week my best friend would come over and we would watch 90210. I think it came out when I was in 8th grade. It was something to look forward to each week.
Isabel and Nicki are adorable! I love Isabel’s shoes too! They look so cute with the glasses on. The pajamas are really nice, it’s great that you can make them. I used to watch Melrose Place and sometimes 90210. Another good show in the 90’s was Ally McBeal. Thank you for showing your new twins!
I’m obsessed with Isabel’s shoes! I hope American Girl releases more shoes like them. I got Isabel and I loved her journal it’s so fun to read and kind of reminds me of The California Diaries (which was a spin-off series of The Babysitters Club) which was also around in the late 90’s.
I love the twins! I was 10 in 1999 - they are my childhood! I hope to get them for Christmas maybe? I have another doll I want first. I may change their names since we’ve already had other dolls with these names. My favorite set of theirs is the Book It set as I have fond memories of doing Book It in school, but everything is spot on. My favorite show Providence started in 1999. I got my favorite cat that year (who lived till 2019). I started drinking coffee. My parents got back together after a separation (and later separated again). My dad had some health issues. My best friend visited me in the summer of 1999 - she had moved a state away. I was very into digital pets like Isabel and obsessed over pop music.
Thanks for sharing. The twins' age is perfect for you. That makes it so much fun. I loved reading all of your memories. I still don't drink coffee. 1999 was a big year for you! We bought a new house and moved to a new town that year. My children are younger than you. One thing that I forgot to mention that makes me think of the 90s were Barnie and Teletubbies. I tried to keep my children from liking those shows because I didn't want to watch them, but they liked them anyway.
@@sew4dolls I grew up watching Barney, but laughed over Teletubbies when it came out. It’s definitely a show for babies and toddlers only. The girl who played the sun is all grown up with a baby of her own. Or so I read!
I love the twins. Because, the clothing is so expensive, I bought some outfits on EBay. I also bought the twin’s with their accessories and pajamas. The computer was great. I had a great time using the computer and meeting people on line, before people got creepy. I watched the same shows. I was in my late 30’s. So, I had a lot of friends. I remember hanging out with them. I also remember that I had a good job. They put up with me learning slowly. Isabel has thinner hair than Nicki. I have to get a couple of Isabels, because there’s no store nearby. I found a few bell bottom pants for the girls, as well as cargo pants. I also made about 8 chokers for the twins. Then, there’s a bed that I bought for $50. It’s an old AG bed with the bedding and pillows. I’m just having trouble getting it, right now. I love the pajamas. You are very talented.
Thank you! I enjoyed reading all of your memories from the 90s. You are lucky that you didn't find people creepy at the beginning. There were some creeps that used to send really dirty messages during online chats when I chatted with my Cabbage Patch Kid friends. I think that those chats were on Yahoo. It was dirty popups that we just ignored.
I haven't finished either journal. but I took a peek for you. It looks like the Isabel book has 10 girl power moments in history that happened in the 90s.
The 90's was a life-changing decade for me. I graduated from Wayne State University in December 1993, got married in January 1994, and accepted Jesus as my Lord and Savior in May 1994. After five years of prayer, my husband accepted Jesus as his Lord Savior in 1999. It was a very good decade. :) Oh, and I also had my first nervous breakdown around 1996, which got me on meds and into counseling, which was also a very, very good thing. :) Thanks for the trip down memory lane and the review of the girls! :)
Wow! Thank you for sharing. The 90s did a lot for you! How amazing that you both you and your husband accepted Christ then too! I was saved in the 80s. The family that I have all started in the 90s. I am overwhelmed with the feeling of spending so many of the 90s being pregnant and nursing that I missed out on a bunch of fashion trends.
@@sew4dolls I didn't have my kids until 2002 and 2006, but I really liked my maternity clothes (a bunch were given to me by someone who had really good taste) and I had nifty nursing tops too that served me well. I'm not much for fashion, anyway, as long as it's comfortable, fits well and good quality, I'm all set. :) My favorite clothes are the ones I've had for years and still look good. Well, they look good to me. My 16 year old daughter would beg to differ. :)
@@bethbacarella That is great that you liked your clothing. I was mainly in jeans and Disney tshirts. I wear jeans and tshirts now so I don't know why looking back I am so bothered. It had to be how I felt about my body being pregnant and then nursing. That was almost 6 years of that. My boobs got huge and barely went down after I stopped nursing.

Since these are “Historical” dolls, do their journals have the section that’s called “A peek into the past?”

what’s funny is everyone making the decision to make them historical has probably been around since 1999
It was bound to happen!
